Man Utd make Harry Maguire transfer decision after five offers for defender
Manchester United have decided to reject approaches from five clubs for their defender Harry Maguire this summer, according to reports. Three teams in the Premier League and two from Italy have made offers to sign the England international centre-back ahead of the 2025-26 season. Maguire's current contract is due to expire next summer – and while talks have not yet taken place over an extension – United are keen to keep him. That's according to the Daily Mail, who also report that Maguire has no desire to leave Old Trafford and sees his long-term future at the club. Maguire turns 33 in March but wishes to spend the rest of his career with United and wants to emulate the likes of Denis Irwin and Steve Bruce. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – click here and sign up before Friday to make sure you don't miss the first edition. The Englishman has made 246 appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club in a £80m deal from Leicester City six years ago. Should United change their minds and decide to offload Maguire, there are a number of other clubs – in addition to the five teams that made offers this summer – who want to recruit him. Turkish side Galatasaray are known to be admirers of Maguire, who has also attracted interest from French duo Monaco and Marseille. It's also thought that Fenerbahce and Besiktas could offer escapes if Maguire changed his own mind. Maguire used to be United's skipper but was stripped of the captaincy by former head coach Erik ten Hag. He came close to joining West Ham two years ago but has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence under current United boss Ruben Amorim. Maguire was recently put in a new six-man leadership group at Old Trafford by Amorim ahead of the upcoming campaign. 'We have a leadership group now,' Amorim said. 'It's not just Bruno, it's not just Harry, it's six guys now. 'They are responsible for the group. There are some things that in the last year I had to deal with that. 'I said to them in this year, you deal with that. Small issues are with you guys. 'You are responsible. All these small changes, I think it's helping the group. 'We have Bruno, we have Licha, we have Harry, we have Diogo, we have Tom and we have Nous. So it's not just the oldest ones. 'Nous is in the group because he's a character that I like. And I try to understand the dynamic of the group and try to reach every space. 'They are the guys that are responsible to keep everyone in line.' Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor being assessed for a knee injury as his team faces a nervous wait for news
New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor has suffered a knee injury during their training camp, in a major blow to the franchise. The news was revealed on Tuesday afternoon as head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed a number of injuries that his side are dealing with during their training camp. Glenn revealed that Taylor - who is expected to back up starter Justin Fields during the upcoming season - had taken a knock and is now being assessed by staff. Speaking on the day, Glenn said: 'Listen, we all know he's an older player and obviously when you get to that point, there's some wear and tear. 'So we wanted to make sure we get it taken care of so he can be ready for us when the season starts. 'I don't see it as a long-term (thing). But I don't want to just stamp that right now, but I am sure it is not.' Taylor has been marked as a backup to starting quarterback Fields, however the former Pittsburgh star has struggled in his opening days at training camp. According to reports, Field went two for ten, four for sixteen and two for six over his last three sessions in camp - sparking concerns over his form already. Meanwhile, the Jets suffered another setback with rookie tight end Mason Taylor picking up a high ankle sprain injury that will keep him sidelined for a week. Though this type of injury can often take weeks to heal properly, Glenn remained adamant that it will not derail his progress in camp. Glenn said: ''He's a damn good player. He has the pedigree of being an NFL player because of his dad. I think he's going to be just fine. I'm not worried about that player at all.' Taylor is a second-round pick out of LSU and had been noted as one of the bright spots on offense for the Jets during their early weeks of training camp. The tight end is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who spent the majority of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Report: Unrivaled salaries to rise; 90 percent of '26 rosters set
August 5 - The Unrivaled women's basketball league has already signed nearly 90 percent of its player pool ahead of its second season in 2026. "We have a few spots left open to fill and then we're pretty much ready to go," Unrivaled co-founder Alex Bazzell recently confirmed to Front Office Sports. With the 3-on-3 league expanding its pool from 36 to 42 players in 2026, the math adds up to about 35 to 37 spots already being filled across the six teams. The six additional players will form a developmental pool and will sub in for injured players throughout the season, as needed. Unrivaled has not officially announced any new players. Notable absences from the league's 2025 debut campaign included Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. Paige Bueckers was still in college in 2025 but is expected to join on a $350,000 salary for 2026, per reports. That's more than her entire four-year WNBA rookie deal. Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier told the podcast "A Touch More" last week that salaries are expected to rise in 2026 from the average of $220,000 last season. Bazzell, who is married to Collier, confirmed the salary hike to Front Office Sports, although without providing any specific figures. "The numbers are going up because the business outperformed every metric that we had," Bazzell said. "It's part of our business model that we built from the ground up, which is that as the business continues to drive more revenue, the revenue is going to get funneled back into the players." The Rose BC team, captained by Chelsea Gray, defeated Vinyl BC to win the inaugural Unrivaled season championship on March 17. --Field Level Media
