
Majlis Ash'shura to host commerce minister on Wednesday
This was stated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash'shura. He said: 'The council will discuss the statement of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion at its 13th and 14th regular sessions. The ministry's statement will address six main topics, the two sectors' contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), the ministry's vision for the future of the industrial sector, the ministry's projects for the 2020-2023 period, an evaluation of free trade agreements, Nazdahir programme and the foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.'
The statement will elaborate on the efforts being made by the ministry to develop digital platforms and national initiatives such as Invest in Oman and evaluate the results of economic agreements signed with GCC countries and other countries, Al Nadabi said.
Meanwhile, the Youth and Human Resources Committee of the Majlis Ash'shura on Sunday hosted Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and a number of specialists from the ministry, to discuss the ministry's efforts to empower and develop the national workforce in the energy and minerals sectors. The meeting was chaired by Younis bin Ali al Mandhari, Chairman of the Youth and Human Resources Committee.
The Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals provided an elaborate explanation of the Ministry's role in supporting and developing employment policies, highlighting the most prominent obstacles facing institutions and companies operating in the oil sector and the innovative solutions required for the next phase to enhance employment and Omanisation opportunities in the oil and gas sectors The Committee members were briefed, through a visual presentation by a specialist from the ministry, on the ministry's efforts to enhance Omanisation in companies operating in the oil and gas sector as well as contracting and service companies. The visual presentation also provided an overview of the Energy Sector Human Resources Forum, an important platform for exchanging ideas and experiences and enhancing national competencies.

Oman, Belarus sign 3 memoranda on understanding in technology transfer, transport sectors
Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus on Wednesday signed three memoranda of understanding (MoU) in Muscat to enhance cooperation on technology transfer in automotive and smart technology sectors. The first memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed by Karwa Motors and Belarusian company Amkodor, established a joint framework for industrial and commercial cooperation between the two sides, enabling them to expand into the markets of the Sultanate of Oman, the GCC states and African countries. The second MoU, signed by Karwa Motors and the Belarusian company MAZ, provides for cooperation between the two sides in the field of manufacturing and distributing transport vehicles, specialised vehicles and trailers. The MoU also includes studying joint marketing, establishing an integrated production line at Karwa Motors automobile plant in the Sultanate of Oman, transferring technical knowledge from the Belarusian side, offering specialized training programmes and providing technical support to enhance the efficiency of national cadres in this field. The two MoUs were signed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Karwa Motors, along with the Deputy General Manager for Marketing at Amkodor company and the Deputy Commercial Director of MAZ. The third MoU was signed by Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC) and the Belarusian company Delivery Software "Delivio", deals with providing the latest digital solutions and advanced software to the Omani and regional markets. Key areas of cooperation, through the third MoU, include developing innovative solutions in the fields of ICT (information and communications technology), artificial intelligence (AI) applications, financial technology, and advanced technical services that support digital transition, automation and modernisation of corporate operations. The MoU was signed by Eng. Aziz Alhasani, General Manager of Information Technology and E-Business at ONEIC, Andrei Sudakov, CEO of Delivery Software. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Dr. Abdullah Masoud Al Harthy, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman, among other officials from the two countries. The signing of the memoranda of understanding stems from the Omani-Belarusian Joint Committee's efforts to consolidate strategic partnerships between leading companies in the two countries, contribute to technology transfer and the development of national competencies and highlight the Sultanate of Oman's status as a regional hub for attracting quality investments projects.

Agreement signed to establish mattress manufacturing facility in Sohar Freezone
Muscat: Sohar Port and Freezone has signed a land lease agreement with Sweet Night Fine Home (FZC) LLC to establish a mattress manufacturing facility in Sohar Freezone. This investment reinforces Sohar's role in driving industrial diversification and sets the foundation for clustering opportunities within the home and comfort manufacturing sector. The project also advances integration into global supply chains, with the potential to localize sourcing and strengthen regional value chains in the long term. The factory will cover an area of 96,000 square meters, with a total investment of USD 70 million. It is designed to produce up to three million mattresses annually, with an initial export focus on the United States, followed by expansion into GCC markets, India, the European Union, and the local market in Oman. Raw materials will be sourced from China, Thailand, Japan, and Korea, enabling the company to manufacture high-quality sleep products for international markets from a single strategic base in Sohar. Johnson Lim, General Manager of Sweet Night Fine Home's upcoming factory in Sohar Freezone commented, 'Our decision to invest in Sohar Freezone was driven by its unmatched location, efficiency, and long-term potential as a regional manufacturing hub. Brookfield acquires major stake in Oman Tower Company
Muscat: Oman Tower Company (OTC), the independent telecom tower infrastructure provider in Oman, announced today that Brookfield acquired a substantial stake in the company.
