Serena, 43, hasn't played since the 2022 US Open, where she announced she was 'evolving' away from tennis. Venus revealed that during a recent practice session, Serena unexpectedly joined in for 15–20 minutes, still striking the ball cleanly. "You can't teach that kind of talent," she said.

'He has only himself to blame': Rishabh Pant's reckless shot sparks debate

Rishabh Pant (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: India's Rishabh Pant suffered a foot fracture during the ongoing Manchester Test against England after attempting a reverse sweep on Day 1. The injury occurred when he was on 37, as Chris Woakes delivered a yorker that struck Pant's right toe, reportedly causing the fracture. Despite the setback, Pant resumed his innings on Day 2 and battled through the pain to notch up a gritty half-century before falling to Jofra Archer . His injury has now cast doubt over his availability for India's second innings and reignited conversations around the use of injury substitutes in Test cricket. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott, speaking on The Telegraph Podcast, criticised Pant's shot selection and said the injury was avoidable. 'It is always sad when a player gets hurt and affects his ability to play a part in the game—especially someone as talented as him. But he has only himself to blame,' Boycott said. Poll Do you think Rishabh Pant's injury could impact India's performance in the match? Yes, significantly Yes, but not too much No, it won't affect the team Not sure 'They were nicely in control, batting orthodox—there was no need to try something outrageous. Rishabh tries amazing strokes. When they come off, people are astonished and cheer him, and that is the essence of his batting. But when they don't, it can look silly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How Smart Are You Really? Speaking to TalkSport Cricket, former England batter David Lloyd offered his take: 'I'm probably against runners, but I'm in favour of substitutes for external injuries. It does open a can of worms, but if it's a break and medically he's out for six weeks, then maybe a like-for-like replacement is worth considering. Not something like replacing a batter with a spinner, though.' For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here. IND vs ENG: 'A major red flag' — Sanjay Manjrekar slams Shubman Gill over Washington Sundar snub on Day 3

India bowler Washington Sundar (C) with captain Shubman Gill. (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has questioned Shubman Gill's captaincy instincts, calling his decision to delay Washington Sundar's introduction into the attack on Day 3 of the fourth Test in Manchester 'a major red flag. ' Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! England, resuming from 225/2, ended the day at a formidable 544/7, taking a 186-run lead and putting India on the back foot. Much of the scrutiny, however, fell on Gill's choice to wait until the 69th over to bring on off-spinner Sundar — despite the pitch showing signs of turn and India's pacers struggling to make breakthroughs. Poll Should Washington Sundar have been introduced earlier in the attack? Yes, definitely. No, it was the right timing. Sundar made an immediate impact once introduced, removing Ollie Pope for 71 and then dismissing Harry Brook for just 3 runs. The late double-strike provided India a brief window back into the game, but many questioned why the off-spinner wasn't used earlier — especially after taking 4/22 in the second innings at Lord's. Shardul Thakur opens up on being under bowled, gives inside details on Rishabh Pant Speaking on Star Sports, Manjrekar didn't mince his words: 'So him [Gill] not bowling Washington Sundar… and there's no plausible reason for him to not bowl. I see this as a major red flag with Shubman Gill's, you know, trait as a captain.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like TV providers are furious: this gadget gives you access to all channels Techno Mag Learn More Undo Manjrekar further criticised Gill's preference for sticking with underperforming pacers on a track that clearly offered turn, noting it showed a lack of tactical awareness. Former England pacer Stuart Broad echoed Manjrekar's sentiments. 'Everybody's been saying, where's Washington Sundar? Why are we not seeing him? They're 300-odd for two and we haven't seen the off-spinner who got 4 for 22 in the last innings at Lord's,' Broad remarked on the broadcast. India now face a daunting task on Day 4, with England already firmly in command and Joe Root's sparkling 150 ensuring the hosts are on track for a series-clinching win.
