Inclusive, accessible and welcoming: 26 community projects in Lethbridge receive funding
More than two dozen non-profits in Lethbridge have received funding to create more inclusive, accessible and welcoming spaces for residents.
Funding was awarded to 26 community projects through two grants totalling $1.2 million.
Some of the projects include a new shuttle bus for Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre, communication boards at playgrounds for the Lethbridge School Division and the Lethbridge Sport Council received $25,000 to purchase a sanitization system and storage space for used sports equipment.

'Having the support to purchase this is fantastic,' said Susan Eymann, Lethbridge Sport Council executive director.
'It helps with that one more step in the logistics of getting a distribution centre started here.'
'To see the amount of non-profit groups and the amount of really great projects that could be possible in our community, I think the challenging part is with a finite amount of money, you're having to say no to a lot of really great projects,' said Andrew Malcolm, City of Lethbridge community social development general manager.
'It was extremely competitive, but I know that the projects that were awarded funding are going to make a big impact in the community.'

This Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stock Has Outperformed Palantir in 2025. Is It Still a Buy?
Key Points Symbotic is bringing AI to the warehouse. The stock's sizzling performance in 2025 is largely due to strong revenue growth. Symbotic might not be able to keep its current momentum going, but it should be a big winner over the long term. 10 stocks we like better than Symbotic › What's the "it" stock right now? Many investors would probably vote for Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR). I'd go along with them. Palantir is, without question, one of the hottest stocks on the market. It's the biggest gainer in the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) so far this year, almost doubling year to date as of the market close on July 15. However, one artificial intelligence (AI) stock has outperformed Palantir. Bringing AI to the warehouse As hot as Palantir has been, Symbotic (NASDAQ: SYM) has been even hotter -- at least so far in 2025. Shares of the AI-powered supply chain robotics company have skyrocketed by around 105% compared to Palantir around 95%. Rick Cohen founded Symbotic in 2007. Cohen wanted to address the distribution challenges that he'd seen firsthand at his family's business, C&S Wholesale Grocers, the largest wholesale grocery supply company in the U.S. Symbotic's technology automates the processing of pallets and cases. Its fully autonomous mobile robots, called Symbots, move goods throughout the company's proprietary storage facilities. These Symbots are controlled by AI software developed by Symbotic. The company has assembled an impressive roster of customers. Retail giant Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is Symbotic's largest customer, accounting for roughly 87% of revenue in the last fiscal year. Walmart is also an investor in Symbotic. Other key customers include Greenbox (a joint venture between Symbotic and SoftBank (OTC: SFTB.Y)), Albertsons (NYSE: ACI), C&S Wholesale Grocers, and Target (NYSE: TGT). Behind Symbotic's spectacular performance Symbotic's revenue soared 40% year over year in the second quarter of fiscal 2025. That's slightly higher than Palantir's revenue growth in its latest quarter. Unlike Palantir, though, Symbotic remains unprofitable. I suspect many investors are encouraged by Symbotic's significant gross margin improvement, due in large part to eight lower-margin projects wrapping up. You can't help but be impressed by Symbotic's nearly $23 billion backlog. Even better, this backlog continues to grow, and the company's future looks bright. Another important recent milestone for Symbotic was its acquisition of Walmart's Advanced Systems and Robotics (ASR) business in January 2025. This deal opens the door for Symbotic to compete in the micro-fulfillment market, which involves using small fulfillment centers near customers to accelerate order processing and shorten delivery times. Symbotic estimates that the Walmart ASR acquisition adds more than $300 billion to its total addressable market in the U.S. Is Symbotic stock still a buy? Is this high-flying AI stock still a buy? I think the answer is "yes" for long-term investors. Granted, Wall Street might seem to view Symbotic stock as overbought. The consensus 12-month price target for the stock is more than 30% lower than the current share price. However, I suspect this is largely the result of Symbotic stock soaring so quickly. Of the 19 analysts surveyed by LSEG in July, two rated the stock as a "strong buy" with nine rating it as a "buy." Some investors could be concerned about Symbotic's valuation. Shares trade at 238 times forward earnings estimates. However, that's lower than Palantir's forward earnings multiple of 263. More importantly, earnings-based metrics aren't as useful for Symbotic at this point. However, the company's price-to-sales ratio of 2.4 is quite reasonable (especially compared to Palantir's P/S ratio of 119.) Symbotic's total addressable market, with the Walmart ASR acquisition included, is over $1.2 trillion. The company's technology gives it a leg up in capturing much of this market. Its relationship with Walmart and other retail and wholesale leaders also helps. I don't know if Symbotic's current momentum is sustainable, but I expect this stock will continue to be a winner over the next decade and beyond. Symbotic might not be the "it" stock that Palantir is, but perhaps it should be. Should you invest $1,000 in Symbotic right now? 1 Quantum Computing Stock to Buy Right Now
Key Points Rigetti achieved 99.5% 2-qubit gate fidelity, making meaningful progress toward the 99.9% threshold needed for fault-tolerant quantum computing. With $575 million in cash, Rigetti has the runway to execute its modular scaling approach. While quantum advantage likely remains two to three years away, Rigetti offers compelling exposure to this transformative technology. 10 stocks we like better than Rigetti Computing › The quantum computing revolution has arrived ahead of schedule. What seemed like science fiction just two years ago now powers real computations in research labs and data centers worldwide. The market has taken notice -- quantum computing stocks have delivered strong gains since late 2024. IonQ, Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI), and D-Wave Quantum have all outperformed the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) over the past 12 months. The momentum in quantum computing stocks reflects a fundamental shift: Breakthrough innovations have compressed the timeline to commercial quantum advantage from decades to years. ^SPX data by YCharts Yet not all quantum stocks deserve your investment dollars. After yesterday's groundbreaking announcement, one company has positioned itself as a compelling contender in the race to commercial quantum computing. When progress is measured in decimal points Rigetti Computing just achieved what many thought would take years: 99.5% median 2-qubit gate fidelity on its new 36-qubit modular system. This represents a 2x reduction in error rates from Rigetti's previous best -- meaningful progress toward the 99.9% threshold many experts cite as necessary for fault-tolerant quantum computing. The company demonstrated the industry's largest multichip quantum computer yesterday, built from four 9-qubit chiplets tiled together. This modular architecture matters because it offers a practical path to scaling beyond the fabrication limits that constrain single-chip designs. While Rigetti isn't alone in pursuing modular approaches -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) and others are exploring similar architectures -- the company's execution stands out. Gate speeds remain a key advantage Rigetti's superconducting qubits operate orders of magnitude faster than competing technologies like ion traps and neutral atoms. In quantum computing, speed translates to more calculations before quantum states decay -- a critical factor in solving complex problems. The company plans to launch its 36-qubit system on Aug. 15, with a 100+-qubit, chiplet-based system maintaining that same 99.5% fidelity before 2025 ends. These are ambitious targets in an industry known for delays. Government contracts signal confidence, not dominance Rigetti's Q1 2025 results revealed growing government interest in the company's approach. The company secured several research contracts: DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative worth up to $1 million, Air Force Office of Scientific Research leadership of a $5.48 million consortium, and a 3.5 million pound U.K. Quantum Mission award. When the Department of Defense and the U.K. government invest millions in your technology, it signals confidence in your approach. These remain R&D contracts rather than full commercial deployments, but they validate Rigetti's technical direction. Strategic partnerships amplify this validation. Rigetti has partnered with Nvidia on hybrid quantum-classical workflows, suggesting the chip giant sees potential in Rigetti's platform. Quanta Computer closed a $35 million investment in April, bringing manufacturing expertise to the partnership. The balance sheet provides runway, not immunity Rigetti completed a $350 million equity offering in June, bringing total cash to approximately $575 million with zero debt. This war chest funds operations without immediate dilution concerns. Q1 2025 revenue came in at $1.5 million -- minimal for a company at current valuations. While building transformative technology often precedes revenue, investors should monitor cash burn carefully. Operating expenses of $22.1 million quarterly suggest roughly six years of runway at current rates. The company operates quantum computers over the cloud, sells on-premises systems to national laboratories, and manufactures chips at Fab-1 -- the industry's first dedicated quantum device manufacturing facility. These are real assets, but they're not yet generating meaningful revenue. The path to quantum advantage remains challenging Quantum computing represents a generational opportunity comparable to the transistor or the internet. The potential applications -- drug discovery, materials science, cryptography, financial modeling -- could be worth trillions. Rigetti's modular architecture provides one viable path to scale. By tiling smaller chiplets into larger systems, the company leverages semiconductor industry techniques while working around certain physics constraints. But execution risk remains high, and competitors like IonQ command higher valuations with more commercial traction. Reality check for quantum investors Most experts project true quantum advantage -- where quantum computers solve commercially valuable problems faster than classical systems -- arriving between 2026 and 2028. Rigetti's 99.5% fidelity represents real progress, but crossing the final technical hurdles often proves hardest. For investors willing to accept substantial risk, Rigetti Computing offers exposure to quantum computing's tremendous upside potential. The company has solid technology, adequate funding, and credible partnerships. But in a field where IonQ, IBM, Alphabet, and several others compete fiercely, picking winners remains a speculative exercise. In other words, position sizing with this name should be paramount right now. Should you invest $1,000 in Rigetti Computing right now? Before you buy stock in Rigetti Computing, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Rigetti Computing wasn't one of them.
