
President Sisi orders acceleration of logistics projects
The ports are to be transformed into global-level, high-capacity hubs, integrated with the modern transportation network – comprising roads, highways and railways – providing the necessary components to position Egypt as a global center for trade and logistics.
During a meeting Sunday with prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel al-Wazir and General Advisor to the President for Financial Affairs Ahmed al-Shazly, President Sisi was briefed on progress of projects carried out under the Ministry of Transport and Industry, especially ventures related to the railway system, including Arish–Taba railway line and the completion of the Bir al-Abd–Arish railway project – expected to contribute to the development of the Sinai Peninsula and create a logistical corridor linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed al-Shenawy said, the meeting also covered updates on the development of seaports, given their central role in the country's development programs.
In this context, the implementation progress of construction, development and upgrading of several ports was reviewed, including Ras Sedr, Gargoub, Abu Qir, the Grand Port of Alexandria, the new El-Max Port, the expansion of Ain Sokhna Port, the construction of Taba Port and development projects at Damietta Port.
The spokesman added that the meeting also took up progress achieved in the fourth metro line in Cairo and the high-speed electric train project. It further discussed efforts to develop industrial zones in Wadi al-Sirriya and al-Motahhara in Minya Governorate and northern Fayoum in Fayoum Governorate.
All efforts are part of broader initiatives to promote industrial development in Upper Egypt and create more job opportunities for citizens, mainly in labor-intensive industries including, textiles, ready-made garments and weaving, according to the spokesman. (MENA)

Palestinian gov't praises Egypt's role, efforts in Gaza relief, reconstruction preparations
The Palestinian government on Friday 1/8/2025 praised the pivotal role played by Egypt's leadership, government, and people in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, consolidating the ceasefire, and working towards a comprehensive end to the war in the Gaza Strip. In a statement carried by WAFA news agency, the Palestinian government commended the ongoing efforts of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Egyptian government in coordinating relief operations with international and UN agencies active in Gaza, as well as the preparations underway for the upcoming international conference on Gaza's reconstruction. The Palestinian government also expressed its full solidarity with Egypt in facing political and media pressures and campaigns. It affirmed its appreciation for Egypt's firm stance rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinians from the enclave and supporting the unity of Palestinian national institutions and their political representation, ensuring the protection of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights and the realization of the Palestinian state in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and Gaza.

Sisi, Dutch PM discuss bilateral relations and support for Palestine
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call on Friday from the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof. The Spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed al-Shennawy, explained that the call touched on various aspects of the bilateral relationship between Egypt and the Netherlands. The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen and develop their relations, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, water resource management, financial services, and energy. The call also reviewed ways to enhance cooperation on migration. The Dutch prime minister praised Egypt's efforts in combating illegal immigration and lauded the continuous coordination between the two countries in this area. Additionally, both sides discussed cooperation in confronting terrorism and extremism. The Dutch prime minister affirmed Egypt's leading role and significant expertise in this area. The call discussed the current regional situation. President Sisi reviewed Egypt's unwavering efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and ensure the urgent and sufficient entry of humanitarian aid. The President also highlighted endeavors to secure the release of hostages and captives and to create an environment conducive to resuming the political process. The aim is to implement the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, along the June 4, 1967 borders, as the only path to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region. The Dutch prime minister expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's diligent efforts to secure a ceasefire, release hostages, and provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. President Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm stance rejecting attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land. He also stressed the need to expedite the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip as soon as a ceasefire is reached. Egypt's President also emphasized the necessity of respecting international law and relevant international agreements, which obligate countries to provide security protection for diplomatic missions and not to harm foreign embassies operating on their soil. This matter was affirmed by the Dutch prime minister.
