Park equipment vandalised while under construction
Wooden benches were graffitied and fencing was damaged in order to gain access to the site at Bridgford Park over the weekend of 24 and 25 May.
Rushcliffe Borough Council said it was now increasing security patrols at the park while the work continued.
Councillor Jonathan Wheeler, the authority's portfolio holder for leisure & wellbeing, said it was "exceptionally disheartening" that the features were vandalised before even being used.
"We have worked hard with Nottinghamshire Police to lower anti-social behaviour in the area in recent times including using CCTV to identify culprits.
"In the last 12 months police have also been engaging with young people that in some cases led to home visits to speak to parents and saw arrests of those who refused to curb their criminal behaviour," he said.
Sgt Che Sands, from Nottinghamshire Police, said they took reports of vandalism at the park "very seriously" and they were working with the council to ensure high-visibility patrols were taking place routinely.
"Bridgford Park falls under a Public Spaces Protection Order, meaning any anti-social behaviour or criminal damage offences will be dealt with by either criminal or financial punishment regardless of age.
"We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in West Bridgford and continue our work to clamp down on it," he said.
The council has urged anyone with information on the vandalism to contact them.
The authority said the new features were still due to open in the coming weeks following a £300,000 investment.
They include a new climbing structure as well as a "balancing trim trail, social hammocks and inclusive equipment".

Man jailed over 'extreme' assault on woman
A man who stormed into a woman's home and dragged her from her bed before launching an "extreme and prolonged assault" has been jailed. The attack on 14 December last year left Samuel Kelham's victim with a complex facial fracture that required surgery, said Nottinghamshire Police. The 37-year-old, of Cherry Tree Close in Brinsley, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage and possession of cocaine during a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday. On the day of the attack, Kelham stamped on and kicked his victim's head several times after punching her and pulling her on to the landing by her hair. The woman managed to run outside to get help, but Kelham chased her, police said, and threw her to the ground before kicking her in the head twice. Officers arrived minutes later, by which time Kelham had already posted about what he had done on social media and fled in a car. After ramming a police car to make his escape, Kelham's vehicle was spotted by officers in Derbyshire later that day and he was arrested. Det Sgt Parminder Ahluwalia said Kelham "deserves" his prison sentence. "His decision to subject his victim to the extreme and prolonged assault he did that morning was cowardly and disgraceful," she said. "In contrast to Kelham's cowardly behaviour, the victim deserves immense credit for the strength and bravery she's shown in helping us lock him up." Seven arrests and weapons seized after street fight
Seven people have been arrested and weapons seized following a street fight in Nottingham. Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to Alfreton Road, at about 23:55 BST on Wednesday to reports a group of men were involved in an altercation. One man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries, a force spokesman said. The road has been closed in both directions at the junction of Raleigh Street. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes. Police said after receiving descriptions of the suspects they conducted searches and recovered weapons. Seven men, aged between 23 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and serious assault, and are currently in custody. Det Insp Luke Todd said: "Detectives will now be carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened. A60 to stay closed 'for hours' after man injured
A man has been taken to hospital after being found injured on the A60 in Nottinghamshire. Emergency services were called to the road in Arnold in the early hours of Tuesday, Nottinghamshire Police said. Officers have closed off a stretch between Redhill roundabout and the Ram Inn on Mansfield Road.
