Nayef Aguerd Leaves Real Sociedad After Impressive Spell

Morocco World2 days ago
Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd will not return to Real Sociedad after his season-long loan from West Ham expired on 30 June.
The 29-year-old centre-back confirmed his departure with a farewell message on Instagram on Tuesday, thanking fans for their 'respect, affection, and love' and promising to keep supporting the club that 'left a deep mark' on him.
Real Sociedad also confirmed his departure in a brief statement.
Aguerd joined La Real last August and quickly became a starter in Imanol Alguacil's backline, making 36 appearances and logging 2,926 minutes across all competitions.
Though discussions over a second loan took place in May, West Ham has decided to pursue a permanent transfer, setting the price at around €20 million.
Aguerd is now considering offers from Marseille, Juventus, and other Champions League clubs. His short spell may not have delivered silverware, yet his calm distribution and aerial strength were vital in securing a top-six LaLiga finish.
He won more than four aerial duels per game and had a success rate above 60%. On the ball, he made close to 60 passes each match, with a solid accuracy of 87.3% in La Liga last season
The loan helped the Moroccan international to get back on track following injury struggles in England. Tags: JuventusmarseilleNayef Aguerdreal sociedadwest ham

Chelsea vs Palmeiras: Preview & Score Prediction

Chelsea and Palmeiras meet once again at the FIFA Club World Cup – this time in the quarter-finals – three years after the Blues beat the Brazilians in extra-time to lift the 2021 title. Kick-off is at 2 a.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia and fans can catch the action live for free on the DAZN website and app. Palmeiras arrive off the back of a tense, all-Brazilian brawl with Botafogo, where they held their nerve to advance. But the win came at a cost — key defenders Gustavo Gomés and Joaquín Piquerez are both suspended. Ferreira is expected to plug the gaps with Micael and Vanderlan, while veteran striker Paulinho, still carrying a knock, is likely to be used sparingly once again. All eyes will be on Estêvão, the 18-year-old gem already Chelsea signed. This could well be his farewell in green. In midfield, Richard Ríos has quietly run the show all tournament and will fancy his chances against a Chelsea side missing suspended Moisés Caicedo. Chelsea scraped past Benfica after a chaotic, storm-delayed match, but questions remain. Enzo Maresca's side has yet to hit top gear, and Palmeiras won't be pushovers. The Blues are missing Caicedo and could also be without Roméo Lavia, meaning Andrey Santos may be handed a rare start alongside Enzo Fernández. Cole Palmer, still Chelsea's best creative outlet, is expected to play centrally again with Madueke and potentially Pedro Neto flanking him — the latter playing through personal grief after the loss of close friend Diogo Jota in a car crash in Spain. João Pedro, the latest addition, may start on the bench but could feature if things get tight. Nicolas Jackson returns from suspension and is expected to start up top over Liam Delap, who is one yellow away from suspension. Predicted Lineups: Palmeiras (4-2-3-1): Wéverton; Giay, Micael, Fuchs, Vanderlan; Martínez, Ríos; Estêvão, Torres, Allan; Roque Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; James, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Cucurella; Santos, Fernández; Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Jackson Score Prediction: Chelsea have more firepower, more depth, and a golden path to the final. Palmeiras will fight, and Estêvão may have his say, but this should be the match where Maresca's men finally click. The Blues are to advance — and convincingly. Youcef Belaïli Released After In-Flight Dispute

Algerian international Youcef Belaïli was briefly detained by French police on Wednesday following an incident aboard an Air France flight returning from New York. The 33-year-old winger was taken into custody at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport after reportedly refusing to fasten his young son's seatbelt during the flight. The disagreement escalated, prompting staff to call for police intervention upon landing. Belaïli was questioned at a nearby police station and released in the afternoon. French authorities deemed the case a minor infraction and did not proceed with formal charges. Following his release, Belaïli posted a photo of the flight crew on Instagram, writing: 'Algerian and proud, you bastards.' His father, Hafid Belaïli, defended him in an interview with the Algerian media outlet Ennahar, saying that his son was humiliated by the French police. Videos circulating on social media show the player being handcuffed and escorted to the police station. The Algerian winger, who previously played for Angers, Brest, and Ajaccio in Ligue 1, recently featured for Espérance Sportive de Tunis in the Club World Cup in the United States. EST were eliminated after defeats to Flamengo and Chelsea, with Belaïli scoring the team's only goal of the tournament.

Arsenal in Talks to Sign Real Madrid Outcast Rodrygo

Arsenal has reportedly opened talks with Real Madrid to sign Brazilian winger Rodrygo with the Spanish club willing to listen to offers at around €90 million. Sources suggest the Gunners are exploring creative ways to structure the deal, potentially through the sale of Gabriel Martinelli. Rodrygo, 24, is understood to be frustrated with his current role at Real Madrid following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and intense competition from Vinicius Junior. New head coach Xabi Alonso is believed to favour a two-forward system and doesn't view Rodrygo as a regular starter. Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Rodrygo has made 352 appearances, scoring 87 goals and providing 59 assists across all competitions. In La Liga alone, he's featured in 172 matches, netting 32 goals and delivering 30 assists, while in the Champions League, he scored 25 goals and 14 assists in 64 appearances. Despite a dip in form during the last season, scoring just six league goals, his overall contribution remains significant, especially considering his versatility across the front line remains a valuable asset. A move to the Premier League could be a turning point in Rodrygo's career. At Arsenal, he would likely operate from the left flank, where he has played most naturally. The chance to link up with Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Bukayo Saka could suit his style and offer the regular minutes he has lacked at Real Madrid. Tags: ArsenalReal MadridRodrygo
