Salford City announces that the Club has been acquired by a new ownership group led by David Beckham and Gary Neville, and includes US-based businessman Declan Kelly and Lord Mervyn Davies who will both serve as new Co-Chairs of the Club's board.

'We're definitely not doing it for a laugh and it's also not for the romantic side of things. Yes, we care about the club — but we're doing it to win. We want Salford to be successful and we have had success, but then we want it to go on to the next level.
'I always dream big so I'm always going to want us to get to the pinnacle of football and be in the Premier League. But there's a lot of hard work and a lot of investment to be done up until that point.'
Beckham first invested in Salford in January 2019, joining former 'Class of 92' team-mates Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt as a shareholder.
Gary Neville bought out the stake of former co-owner Peter Lim last August.
The club confirmed on Thursday that Phil Neville, Scholes, Giggs and Butt were no longer shareholders but would still be contributing 'with roles in the club across technical, football, commercial, recruitment and the SCFC foundation'.
Kelly and Davies will serve as co-chairs on the club's board.

The club said the acquisition includes 'a commitment by the new shareholders to invest significantly in the club, the team and its facilities'.
Salford missed out on the League Two play-offs by a single point, so will again play in English football's fourth tier next season.
Kelly and Davies said in a joint statement: 'We have been close friends and partners for more than a decade and we look forward to partnering with David, Gary, this phenomenal new ownership group, the Class of '92 and everyone at SCFC to take this project to the next level and hopefully bring more success to Salford City's wonderful fan base, players and everyone associated with the club.'
An advisory and investment firm, Consello, will lead the club's commercial strategy, with the club said to be 'looking forward to bringing on a series of commercial partners across the UK, US, Europe, and Asia'.

Salford hope they can follow Wrexham's lead in attracting overseas interest and investment following the buyout of the Welsh club by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Since the takeover Wrexham have risen from the National League to the Championship, having achieved three successive promotions.
Beckham added: 'We've all been inspired by what Ryan Reynolds has been doing at Wrexham and I'm not saying this is why we're doing it because it's not.
'But I've spoken to Ryan about it so many times now and he said the feeling around the city, the feeling around the club, is so exceptional. That's the kind of thing that we want to create.'

Massive investments by technology and defense firms in new technologies like artificial intelligence, which require significant computing infrastructure, have boosted demand for Amphenol's equipment. The company's communications solutions segment, which makes high-speed cable and antennas, reported sales of $2.91 billion in the second quarter, more than doubling its sales from a year ago. Total second-quarter sales were $5.65 billion, above estimates of $5.04 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. The Connecticut-based company forecast third-quarter revenue between $5.4 billion and $5.5 billion, a growth of about 34% to 36% from a year ago. Analysts expected $5.25 billion. Amphenol also projected quarterly adjusted earnings per share between 77 cents and 79 cents, above expectations for 69 cents. Amphenol provides high-speed cables, sensors and antenna solutions for end markets such as automotive, commercial aerospace, defense, industrial and data communications.

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, who has a three-word nickname that was given to him by former PSG team-mate Lionel Messi At just 23 years old, Hugo Ekitike already holds the impressive distinction of having shared the pitch with some of the sport's biggest names - a trend set to continue at Liverpool. Following a dramatic few days of speculation, the Reds are close to finalising a deal which could rise to £79million for the Eintracht Frankfurt forward. Liverpool hijacked Newcastle's bid for the player when the Magpies refused to sell Alexander Isak. The Premier League champions then moved swiftly to agree a transfer, which, once completed, will push the club's summer spending to just under the £300m mark. Ekitike, who will become Liverpool's second-most expensive striker in history behind Darwin Nunez, is expected to sign a six-year contract at Anfield. The Frenchman found the back of the net 22 times and tallied 12 assists in 48 matches across all competitions last season, after making his move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Bundesliga permanent just one year ago. Fans were promised that they'd be informed of the exact dates and kick-off times for matchweeks four, five and six by July 9. But only now have top-flight chiefs been able to finalise them. The Premier League say that their late announcement still falls in line with their commitment to giving supporters at least six weeks' notice when it comes to fixture changes before January, allowing fans to make plans in good time. In a statement, the league said: "While the Premier League's fixture announcement dates advised that September's fixtures would be released on 9 July, delays in local approvals for fixtures unfortunately meant only August fixtures were announced on this date. "The Premier League would like to apologise for not being able to confirm these fixtures until now. However, today's announcement is in line with our commitment to give at least six weeks' notice for fixture announcements before January." The Manchester Derby headlines September's list of fixtures. United's visit to City will now be played at 4:30pm on Sunday, September 14 on Sky Sports. That match follows Liverpool's trip to Burnley, kicking off at 2pm. Arsenal have also had a fixture moved that weekend. The Gunners are scheduled to host Nottingham Forest at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 13. The Merseyside Derby at Anfield has been selected to take place at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 20 on TNT Sports.
