Boomer Esiason thinks Derek Jeter is lying about daughter's birthday as Old-Timers' Day feud escalates

Boomer Esiason caused a stir when he said Derek Jeter seemed 'elitist' for skipping this year's Yankees Old-Timers' Day, and the WFAN host is doubling down. Jeter says he's missing the event, a celebration of the Yankees' 2000 World Series team, for his daughter's birthday party, but Esiason isn't convinced that's the real reason. 'I believe there's an inaccurate part of this story out there,' the ex-Jets quarterback said on 'Boomer and Gio' on Tuesday morning. 'There is something going on, I believe. But I don't believe it's what everybody thinks it is. But maybe I could be wrong.' Advertisement That statement came after WFAN co-host and former Giants running back Tiki Barber relayed that Jeter was 'hot' about Esiason's skepticism. Esiason said earlier on the show that he received an email from someone in Jeter's sphere indicating the true reason for Jeter's absence is a separate family matter, although the former NFL quarterback did not divulge details. Last Tuesday, Esiason said on his radio show that it was 'a little bit insulting' for Jeter to skip out. 'I think he should be there, he should be part of it. It seems elitist to me,' Esiason said, adding: 'Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio played in an Old-Timers' game together…if those guys put a uniform back on, then [Jeter] certainly can.' Getty Images Barber approached Jeter about the comments, with the pair both in Cooperstown to celebrate CC Sabathia's induction into the Hall of Fame, and Jeter voiced his frustration, according to Barber. '[Jeter said] 'He should have called me,'' Barber recalled Monday on his show with Evan Roberts. 'Don't speculate about me. Just talk to me.' He was hot. I had to calm him down.' Esiason retorted that he didn't have Jeter's contact, saying the legendary shortstop could have called him about the comments, before he reiterated his skepticism about Jeter's excuse.

Heidi Klum 'doesn't worry about age-shaming'

Heidi Klum thinks society has become "more welcoming of wrinkles". The 52-year-old model has suggested that attitudes towards ageing have changed in recent years, observing that it's now "okay to be older". Heidi told People: "I feel like we're more welcoming of wrinkles and rolls on our body. Being accepted at every age is amazing. That we've changed and come all that way." Heidi doesn't have any fears of "age-shaming or body-shaming". She shared: "For me to be older, it doesn't matter. I don't have this age-shaming or body-shaming thing. I feel like everyone should do what they want to do. I like to run around sexy — even now at 52." Heidi actually loves posting sexy photos of herself on social media. The model suggested that she's been posting so-called thirst traps since before social media was invented. She said: "I've been photographing nude or in lingerie since 1992, way before Instagram. "So for me, it's nothing new. For the past 15 years, other people are now doing what I've been doing for 30 years. Instead of being in my little bottoms in a magazine, I'm on Instagram. It's the same thing." The model has also encouraged other women to not "hide" once they reach 50. She said: "The biggest misconception [about] being in your 50s is that you are off the shelf. You're not off the shelf. We are very much on that shelf for everyone to see. "Don't hide in your 50s. Beauty is ever-changing, and I'm here for the change. If it's always the same, life is boring." Heidi is married to 35-year-old musician Tom Kaulitz, and she previously described her husband as a "great man". The model also rubbished criticism of their age gap. Asked why it's such a big issue for so many people, Heidi told Glamour magazine: "I think it's often just spitefulness. "Perhaps many people also think I've had too much luck in life. I have a great job, I get to travel the world, I can buy expensive things. And now I've also got myself such a great man."

Sydney Sweeney Is Facing A Backlash Over Her New American Eagle Campaign. Here's What People Are Saying

Sydney Sweeney's new collaboration with the fashion brand American Eagle has become the centre of a whole lot of debate. The Euphoria star unveiled a new campaign with the American clothing brand last week, to promote their line of denim last week. However, it didn't take long before social media clips to promote the deal sparked a wave of discomfort among many critics, largely due to some of the language that's used in the campaign. This is the story so far… What is Sydney Sweeney's new ad campaign for American Eagle all about? For American Eagle's autumn 2025 campaign, Sydney Sweeney can be seen sporting items from the brand's denim range, including a new pair of jeans inspired by her. The campaign also makes use of the slogan 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans', a pun on the term 'great genes'. In another, she explains: 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality and even eye colour.' 'My jeans are blue,' she then quips, at which point a narrator delivers the line: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.' Why are some people upset about Sydney Sweeney's new ads for American Eagle? Unfortunately this repeated use of the slogan 'great jeans', a pun on 'great genes', has put some viewers in mind of the language used by white supremacists and eugenicists. By centring a blonde, white star in a campaign referencing 'genes', some critics are accusing the brand of tone-deafness at best – particularly in the current political climate – and deliberately pushing a white supremacist agenda at worst. HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for both Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle for comment. Others are pointing out that Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle campaign doesn't mention one other important aspect of the product American Eagle's new 'Sydney Jean' features a butterfly detail on its back pocket, in a nod to domestic violence awareness, a cause which the White Lotus star has championed throughout her career. In fact, an American Eagle press release confirmed that '100% of the purchase price from 'The Sydney Jean' will be donated to Crisis Text Line', a charity in the US which aims to help those affected by domestic violence. However, the ads are also being criticised for not highlighting this key part of the campaign, with some saying its accompanying slogan is even more jarring as a result. Has Sydney Sweeney or American Eagle said anything about the controversy?
