Nothing to lose for Swifts after finals 'nightmare'
The Swifts will be out for redemption - and a spot in the 2025 decider - when the 13-times finalists host the Melbourne Vixens in a do-or-die prelim at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday.
Housby and her teammates were left reeling after a disastrous 77-45 semi-final mauling to grand final-bound West Coast in the RAC Arena "dungeon".
After a perfect 8-0 start to the season, NSW have lost five of their past seven games.

Meanwhile, the Vixens are riding high after sensationally ending Adelaide's bid for a third-straight title with a 58-56 win last week.
The road to grand final glory works favourably for the Vixens, who will enjoy home-court advantage - despite finishing fourth - if they reach the decider.
Despite the Fever finishing on top of the table, Rod Laver Arena will host the grand final on August 2 under Super Netball's controversial policy of selling hosting rights for the decider.
NSW can't look that far just yet, with Housby saying her side was taking a nothing-to-lose approach against Melbourne.
"It kind of feels like we've lived our nightmare but, in saying that, the sun came up the next day," Housby said.
"I don't want to say it was a relief but to get that game out of the way but still have a game to play, it almost feels like it can't go any worse than what it was (against West Coast).
"We've got nothing to lose and everything to gain going into this game."
Housby has seen this movie before too, saying NSW have never had it easy on the way to a grand final.
The Swifts were thumped 58-48 by Sunshine Coast in the 2019 major semi-final before rebounding to win the title.
Housby also points to their 2023 run, where the Swifts eliminated the Fever by one point in the dying seconds.
They later lost the grand final by one point to Adelaide.
"It does feel like a bit of deja vu," Housby said.
"It always seems like there's a bit of adversity in our wins and in our premierships, so I quite like that.
"I love to be on the edge of performance. This group is itching for it. Just itching for another chance to prove ourselves and to show the netball world that that's not what we stand for."
Swifts co-captain and mid-courter Paige Hadley is expected to return from a leg injury in a massive boost for coach Briony Akle's team.

'Couldn't hit the side of a barn': Dockers miss chances
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has urged his team to become more ruthless after being left to rue yet another missed opportunity to build all-important percentage. The Dockers posted their ninth win from their past 10 matches on Saturday when they defeated struggling West Coast by 49 points at Optus Stadium. The 18.18 (126) to 12.5 (77) triumph kept Fremantle (13-6) within percentage of the top four. Although a 49-point win on paper sounds strong, Fremantle created enough opportunities to win in the vicinity of 75 points. It continued a trend for Fremantle, who have only won in excess of 50 points once this season. Out of the top nine teams, Fremantle (111.7 per cent) possess by far the worst percentage. If could be a big issue that comes back to haunt them in the next month as they attempt to lock down a finals or even a top-four berth. Longmuir didn't mince his words when talking about the missed opportunity of building percentage after the win over West Coast. "We just couldn't hit the side of a barn, especially in that second quarter - 1.6 and two out on the full," Longmuir said. "When you're 18.18 and there are four out of the fulls (it is a missed chance). "I said to the players after the game, it's been a bit of a trend for us. "I think we held Adelaide to 38 points or something until three-quarter time, and then coughed up three or four goals out of our back half just by going to sleep in that game. "It was a bit the same with the GWS game. And you do that across the course of the year - take one per cent here or there - it adds up. "So we need to be a bit more ruthless in that sense. And maybe that's the next step." Fremantle will have another chance to boost their percentage next Sunday when they host struggling Carlton at Optus Stadium, before rounding out their home-and-away campaign with games against Port (away), Brisbane (home) and Western Bulldogs (away). Given the Dockers' poor percentage, they will probably need to win all four in order to nab a prized top-four berth. There were plenty of big contributors in the win over West Coast, but the most pleasing aspect of the triumph was the hot form of Hayden Young. The 24-year-old made his return from hamstring surgery as the sub last week in the one-point win over Collingwood. He was handed a start against West Coast, and went on to tally 23 disposals, seven clearances, 555m gained and three goals before being subbed out early in the last. His efforts earned him a maiden Glendinning-Allan medal as best afield, and he looms as a key player in Fremantle's push for premiership glory.

Eagles left to sweat on painful Harley Reid injury
Star West Coast midfielder Harley Reid could be set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a painful ankle injury in the dying moments of his team's 49-point western derby loss to Fremantle. Reid injured his right ankle while being crunched in a Karl Worner tackle late in Saturday's 18.18 (126) to 12.5 (77) loss. The 20-year-old was helped off the field by two trainers before gingerly limping to the change rooms. Reid will undergo scans to determine the extent of the damage. McQualter was proud of Reid's efforts. "I thought we saw a selfless version today of Harley," McQualter said. Reid even had a measured chat with an umpire at quarter-time to discuss several aspects of the game. "I didn't know that happened, but if that's what Harley wants to do, that's great," McQualter said. "And if the umpires are happy to chat, that's good. "It certainly beats screaming at them, which we've all wanted to do at times, and Harles has done. "But that's a good sign of maturity, if he's growing in that space." Toby Greene under fire over 'dirty' act as swipe at Swans rival divides AFL world
Toby Greene could find himself in hot water with the AFL's Match Review Officer after a controversial hit on Swans star Isaac Heeney. But the GWS Giants captain and his coach have both brushed off Greene's 'overweight' jibe at Swans rival Tom Papley that has divided the AFL world.
