Ralph Lauren CEO sees ‘resilient' demand amid tariff uncertainty
'Our core consumers are actually still very resilient,' Louvet told Bloomberg TV on Thursday. Customers dealing with financial strain are gravitating toward trusted names like Ralph Lauren, he said. 'When you look at the part of our lineup that is responding really nicely right now, it's our core products.'
The company, best known for its menswear—Oxford shirts, tweed jackets and timeless wardrobe staples—said in May that it expects revenue growth to slow later this year, in response to more cautious U.S. consumer spending.
Louvet said the impact of President Donald Trump 's trade policies remains uncertain, though he noted that Ralph Lauren's diversified supply chain—sourcing fewer goods from China compared to competitors—offers a strategic advantage. He also emphasized the brand's pricing flexibility, adding that Ralph Lauren could engage in 'promotional activities' if market conditions require it.
Louvet highlighted womenswear as a 'significant opportunity,' noting it is currently a $2 billion business for the company.
Ralph Lauren shares have risen just over 25% this year through Wednesday's close, outperforming many of its fashion industry peers.
Louvet was speaking from London during the Wimbledon tennis championships, which Ralph Lauren sponsors. He said the company sees cricket as another potential area for expansion, building on its existing sports collaborations with the U.S. Ryder Cup golf team, New York Yankees player Aaron Judge, and Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.

Shelton ends Mannarino jinx in Toronto
The American fourth seed came to the court with a pair of losses against 37-year-old qualifier Mannarino, but said he was able to vary his serve to get over the line for a welcome first victory in the series. "This win was huge for me. He's a shotmaker, he can take the racquet out of your hands," Shelton said after his 56-minute win. "I've played well against him in the past and come up short, he can make things really difficult." Shelton broke twice to lift the opening set and cruised to a 5-3 margin in the second. Musetti, Rune set winning pace for ATP seeds in Toronto
