Nathan Fillion spoke with Etalk at the world premiere of the new 'Superman' movie. He says his superfan was a teacher from Edmonton. Edmonton-born actor Nathan Fillion is living out a childhood dream playing a super hero in the new Superman movie. Fillion attended the world premiere of the film on Monday night at the TCL Theater in Los Angeles. Fillion stars as the Green Lantern in the James Gun remake of the DC Universe's man-of-steel film. The cast is led by David Corenswet in the titular role of Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as the villainous Lex Luthor. 'This is crazy. I had a comic book back in my room when I was a kid,' Fillion told an Etalk reporter on the red carpet. 'I was steeped in all of this stuff and here I am.' He added that he is 'living the dream' as an actor who gets to do what he loves. 'All the stuff I got in trouble for as a kid – daydreaming, drawing in the margins of my binders when I should have been studying or taking notes – and who's laughing now.' Halifax hip-hop veteran Tachichi drops new album, celebrates with hometown party
One of Halifax's legendary underground hip-hop artists is marking nearly three decades in the scene with a new record and a big hometown show. Tachichi, a mainstay of the city's rap community since the '90s, is set to drop what he estimates is around his 20th album. 'Peak Performance' blends socially conscious rhymes with hard-hitting, boom bap-inspired beats. 'It's an album with an assortment of producers,' Tachichi said in an interview with CTV Atlantic's Katie Kelly. 'It's hard but funky at the same time.' The album's first single, 'Vibe Glidin,' sets the tone with a message to stay positive. 'That one touches on the political climate. It was just to be like shake off the state that we're in. Just try to live your life. Move forward.' Tachichi will celebrate the release – and his birthday – with a party at Halifax's Seahorse Tavern on Saturday, July 12. The night will feature special guests including LXVNDR, Alfie, KXNG Wooz, Kaleb Simmonds, Megz & Paollo, and more, with DJs Double A and OKAY TK spinning jams from the '90s and '00s.
