Jagan alleges ‘undeclared emergency' in state
During a one-day tour in Nellore district, Jagan visited former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison to offer support and later met the family of former Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy at their residence in Sujathamma Colony.
While Govardhana Reddy is in jail for his role in illegal mining, Prasanna Kumar Reddy is facing criminal charges for making derogatory comments against Kovuru MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.
Addressing the media, Jagan warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of 'severe consequences' for promoting vindictive politics, including orchestrating attacks on opposition leaders' homes. 'Criticism is common in politics, but sending armed mobs to attack Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house is clear evidence of the TDP's 'red book constitution' in Andhra Pradesh,' he said.
Jagan questioned the government's deployment of a large police force, road blockades, and unprecedented restrictions to prevent people from meeting him. He accused Naidu of using these tactics to divert attention from unfulfilled election promises. The YSRCP chief alleged that Naidu derives 'sadistic pleasure' by filing false cases to keep opposition leaders, including Kakani Govardhan Reddy, in jail for extended periods. He claimed that despite a village revenue officer's statement denying illegal quarrying at Rusthum Mines in Tatiparthi village, Podalakuru mandal, the government falsely implicated Govardhan Reddy in 14 cases, including an illegal mining case and an SC/ST case, as part of its vendetta politics.
Jagan further alleged that YSRCP leaders such as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Jogi Ramesh, Nandigama Suresh, Pennelli Ramakrishna Reddy, and others have been targeted.
He claimed PV Midhun Reddy was jailed due to a past college rivalry between his father, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, and Naidu. Condemning the TDP's use of foul language against YSRCP leaders like RK Roja, Rajani, and ZP Chairperson Harika, Jagan asked, 'If we retaliate in the same manner, where will democracy stand?' He said public discontent, noting that students have not received fee reimbursements for six quarters, farmers are denied MSP, and Aarogyasri dues remain unpaid, depriving the poor of quality healthcare.
Jagan vowed to hold all corrupt individuals accountable, stating, 'No one involved in wrongdoing will be spared, regardless of their position'.

Cong coined ‘Hindu terror' theory to target RSS & Vichar Parivar: Fadnavis
Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Friday alleged that the "Hindu terror" narrative was a politically motivated conspiracy crafted by the Congress-led UPA govt in 2008 to malign Hindutva organisations, particularly the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its Vichar Parivar affiliates and build a false equivalence to 'Islamic terrorism', a term coined globally at that time. He said the Malegaon blast case acquittals busted what he called as a "Cong-fabricated plot. " "The Congress and UPA govt coined the terms 'Hindu terrorism' and 'saffron terror' to deliberately target Hindutva organisations," Fadnavis said, a day after a trial court acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts. He was addressing media on the sidelines of the inauguration of a new administrative building and foundation of new hostel complexes of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University's new campus in Waranga near Wardha road. The CM was reacting to both the verdict and former Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) officer Mehboob Mujawar's claim, who recently alleged that he was pressured by superiors to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat as part of the investigation in an effort aimed at reinforcing the saffron terror narrative, he said. "From the early 1990s to early 2000s, the world was grappling with Islamic terrorism, with links pointing at Pakistan. The United States, Europe, and India all faced deadly terror strikes. Instead of confronting reality, the Cong sought to please its vote bank (with fabricated narrative)," Fadnavis alleged. He said that the attempt to brand Hindu organisations as terror outfits was not backed by any concrete evidence. "Many sincere and honest police officers took a stand. They categorically told the political leadership that there was no proof against RSS or Vichar Parivar functionaries. These officers refused to be part of any unlawful activity, which ultimately prevented the misuse of law enforcement agencies," he said. Fadnavis asserted that the fabricated narrative was a "deep-rooted conspiracy" to ban Hindutva organisations by projecting them as extremist forces. "This wasn't just about one case. The objective was to systematically defame nationalist organisations like the RSS. But now that the Malegaon verdict is out, truth is beginning to surface. More voices will emerge to expose what actually happened behind the scenes," he said. Targeting senior Cong leader Prithviraj Chavan, Fadnavis remarked, "Today, he talks about saffron as the sacred colour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. But he was in the PMO under PM Manmohan Singh when the same colour was being painted as a symbol of terror. Why didn't he oppose it then?" The CM emphasised that bhagwa (saffron), Hindu identity and Sanatan dharma are not separate entities. "They are inspired by the same source — nationalism and civilisational pride. There is no distinction between them. These are not fringe ideas but central to our cultural identity," he said.

No Demolition Without Pucca Houses: CM
New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta issued orders on Friday to all departments, including the railways and Delhi Development Authority, that no slum will be demolished in the city unless its residents are provided with pucca houses. Gupta said Delhi govt would amend the existing policy on JJ clusters, if required, and even move court to protect the housing rights of slum-dwellers. She added that nearly 50,000 flats built years ago for the economically weaker section (EWS) in outer areas of the city under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission would be renovated for slum dwellers. "Slums in Delhi are an inseparable part of the national capital, with residents living there for decades," Criticising the opposition for using slum-dwellers as a political vote bank, Gupta asserted her govt was making sincere efforts to ensure their rightful recognition as residents of Delhi. "The chief minister has announced that these flats will now be handed over to slum dwellers under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban. DUSIB and DSIIDC were allocated Rs 732 crore for housing, which remained unutilised and was to be returned to the Centre. Central govt has now approved their use for the renovation of these dilapidated flats," said an official. Gupta accused the previous govts of treating slum dwellers as a vote bank. "These settlements neither have drinking water nor roads, pavements, proper drainage and sewage system," CM said. AAP Delhi convener Saurabh Bharadwaj said CM and her party were "bluffing" the slum dwellers for many months now. "If Rekha Gupta is actually serious about what she is saying, she should ask central govt and its agencies to withdraw the cases against these JJ clusters in the high court and Supreme Court," Bharadwaj said. "On one hand, these agencies are going to the courts against poor people; on the other hand, they are not even providing them with any alternative places to live," he claimed.

Can OPS succeed where other AIADMK leaders who joined DMK failed?
Can former Chief Minister and expelled AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam, who is inching closer to the DMK, defy the trend of AIADMK leaders failing to make a mark after aligning themselves with the DMK? The earliest case of a senior AIADMK leader turning a critic of the party was S.D. Somasundaram, who was Minister for Revenue, Commercial Taxes and Food in the Cabinet headed by M.G. Ramachandran during 1978-84, according to a perusal of materials available with The Hindu archives. When he began openly accusing MGR of corruption, Somasundaram, also called SDS, was dismissed from the Cabinet and expelled from the AIADMK. In the 1984 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, he tried to strike a deal with the DMK, but the talks failed. SDS' party, Namadhu Kazhagam, fielded candidates in 150 Assembly constituencies and 15 Lok Sabha constituencies, but its performance was disastrous. SDS himself lost the deposit in his home constituency of Pattukottai, from where he was elected in 1980 on the AIADMK ticket. In 1986, he returned to his parent party. After the Dravidian major's defeat in 1996, SDS briefly aligned with rebels. Again, he led a party, Puratchi Thalaivar Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which merged with the AIADMK after his death in 2001. S. Thirunavukkarasar [earlier known as S. Thirunavukkarasu], once a close aide of Jayalalithaa, fell out of favour with her on two occasions. Between 1988 and 1997, he was shown the door thrice. His expulsion in 1990 forced him to launch Anna Puratchi Thalaivar Tamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam (APTTMK), with his colleagues including K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, now Revenue Minister with the DMK. In the 1991 Assembly poll, the APTTMK tied up with the DMK and won two out of the nine seats it contested. Considering that the election took place against the backdrop of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, the APTTMK's performance was considered impressive. Mr. Thirunavukkarasar, currently with the Congress, later renamed his party as MGR ADMK. After a brief reunion with Jayalalithaa during 1996-97, he revived his party and contested the 1998 Lok Sabha election as an ally of the Congress. In the now-abolished Pudukottai constituency, he finished third but polled about 2.26 lakh votes with a vote share of 29.28%. The following year, he was part of the DMK-led front and bagged the seat. However, he could not run his party for long, and merged it with the BJP a few years later. R.M. Veerappan, once a powerful Minister in the MGR Cabinet, found himself on the wrong side when he was in the AIADMK led by Jayalalithaa. During her first term as Chief Minister (1991-96), Veerappan was dropped from the Jayalalithaa Cabinet in September 1995 in the wake of a controversy over what the party regarded as his silence when actor Rajnikanth, in his presence, talked of the 'bomb culture' in the State. A veteran leader who was with the AIADMK says it is the party name and symbol that matter more than anything else, and this is why those who leave the party fade away.
