Bossier Parish, which includes Bossier City, voted Republican in every presidential election since 2000.
46.2 percent of the people voted Republican in the last presidential election, 24.4 percent voted for the Democratic Party, and the remaining 29.4 percent voted Independent. In the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump received 69.7 percent of the votes in Bossier Parish, compared to 28.7 for Joe Biden.
According to the Federal Election Commission, campaign contributions from Republicans in Bossier City exceed those from Democrats. From 2018 to 2021, Republican Party and conservative campaigns received 5,188 contributions totaling $2,480,309, with an average contribution of $478. Meanwhile, Democratic Party and liberal campaigns garnered 3,909 contributions totaling $1,084,764, averaging $278 per contribution.
Although Bossier Parish has consistently supported Republicans in recent presidential elections, the state as a whole has voted Democratic in some past presidential elections, most recently in favor of Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996, as well as Jimmy Carter in 1976.

No arrests made at anti-Trump demonstrations, police say
No protesters were arrested at demonstrations about US President Donald Trump after he began a visit to Scotland, according to police. A 50-year-old woman was issued with a recorded police warning in connection with alleged threatening behaviour at a Stop Trump Scotland protest outside the US consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday, but no arrests were made, according to Police Scotland. In Glasgow, a woman aged 49 was arrested at a 'mass deportation rally' led by Ukip's Nick Tenconi, which was met by a counter-protest in George Square. The woman, who was a counter-protester, was arrested in connection with an alleged obstruction of the police and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Police Scotland said two arrests were made in Aberdeen at 'other events' on Saturday, but not at a huge anti-Trump demonstration in the city. A spokesperson said the force 'took action at demonstrations and protest events' but did not make any arrests at Trump rallies across the country. In Aberdeen, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a number of outstanding warrants and will appear in court at a later date, according to Police Scotland. A 56-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal after an alleged assault in Aberdeen city centre. Police Scotland said they could not give further details.

Landlord jailed for decades in hate-crime attack on Palestinian American family has died
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A landlord jailed for decades after he attacked a Palestinian American boy and his mother has died. Three months ago, Joseph Czuba was sentenced to 53 years behind bars for the attack. He was found guilty in February of murder, attempted murder and hate-crime charges in the death of Wadee Alfayoumi and the wounding of the boy's mother, Hanan Shaheen. The 73-year-old Czuba targeted them in October 2023 because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas, which started days earlier. Czuba died Thursday in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Chicago Sun-Times reported, citing the Will County Sheriff's Office. The law enforcement agency did not return a call seeking comment on the death. Ahmed Rehab, the executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations' Chicago office, said in a statement on Saturday that 'this depraved killer has died, but the hate is still alive and well.' Evidence at trial included harrowing testimony from Shaheen and her frantic 911 call, along with bloody crime scene photos and police video. Jurors deliberated less than 90 minutes before handing in a verdict. The family had been renting rooms in Czuba's home in Plainfield, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Chicago when the attack happened. Central to prosecutors' case was harrowing testimony from the boy's mother, who said Czuba attacked her before moving on to her son, insisting they had to leave because they were Muslim. Prosecutors also played the 911 call and showed police footage. Czuba's wife, Mary, whom he has since divorced, also testified for the prosecution, saying he had become agitated about the Israel-Hamas war, which had erupted days earlier. Police said Czuba pulled a knife from a holder on a belt and stabbed the boy 26 times, leaving the knife in the child's body. Some of the bloody crime scene photos were so explicit that the judge agreed to turn television screens showing them away from the audience, which included Wadee's relatives. The attack renewed fears of anti-Muslim discrimination and hit particularly hard in Plainfield and surrounding suburbs, which have a large and established Palestinian community. Wadee's funeral drew large crowds, and Plainfield officials have dedicated a park playground in his honor.
