A few months ago, a video from a social club in Houston called JokerStars went viral. Former Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson was seen getting into a fist fight with professional poker player, Joe "Baby Joe" Castaneda.
Now, the two rivals have signed for a Celebrity Boxing match, which will be set for some time in the near future. After their near brawls, this will be the perfect opportunity for both Peterson and Castaneda to release all the pent-up tension between them.
Adrian Peterson shares preparation video for his upcoming boxing match
Earlier this year, Adrian Peterson and Joe "Baby Joe" Castaneda had a disagreement during a game of poker which led to a physical altercation between the two of them. Then again, on May 27, a game of Poker led to another
altercation
that went viral.
Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman thus got the two of them to come forth for a boxing match, while he still irons out all the kinks before the two get inside a ring.
Ahead of their match, NFL legend Peterson has shared a video of his training session. Sporting a maroon tee, grey shorts, and black shoes, he gloved up for his upcoming match against his nemesis. The running back looked sharp as he practiced his moves with a training partner. TMZ shared the video, writing:
"Adrian Peterson's begun training for his celebrity boxing match with his poker rival ...
and while his hands could certainly use some more sharpening, it's clear he's in great shape."
While fans are yet to be informed of when and where the match will take place, both men are getting ready to gain the upper hand before they have to fight it out with each other.
Baby Joe is not slacking on getting prepped for the match
Joe "Baby Joe" Castaneda, the professional poker player who is getting ready for his first bout inside a boxing ring, is not slacking off. Similar to his opponent, he too has been preparing for the upcoming match and has hired combat sports coach Teddy Concepcion to train him.
Both of them have signed with Celeb Boxing for their boxing match, and we will get to know the details soon.
After their fight over a poker game dispute,
Adrian Peterson
had apologized, saying he "felt really bad" over what happened and did "regret" that things turned nasty. But that's not going to stop either of them from coming after each other inside the ring. Peterson already has prior experience with the matter when he faced fellow former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell back in 2022. Though he lost out on his first outing, maybe this time his luck has turned for him.

Los Angeles Chargers secure Rashawn Slater with record-breaking $114 m extension

The Los Angeles Chargers have bolstered their offensive line by signing left tackle Rashawn Slater to a historic four-year, $114 million contract extension. This agreement ensures the two-time Pro Bowler remains with the team through the 2029 season, providing long-term stability for quarterback Justin Herbert's protection. The four-year deal worth $114 million signed by Rashawn Slater includes $92 million in guaranteed money. This makes Slater the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history with an average annual salary of $28.5 million. The extension comes as Slater was entering the final year of his rookie contract, set to earn $19 million on his fifth-year option in 2025. With no long-term security beyond this season, negotiations between the Chargers' front office and CAA Football had been ongoing for weeks. The new deal not only rewards Slater's contributions but also ensures continuity for a team aiming to build a championship-caliber roster around Herbert. Drafted 13th overall in 2021, Rashawn Slater has been a significant performer for the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite a biceps injury limiting him to just three games in 2022, Slater has been a reliable player at left tackle. His exceptional play earned him Pro Bowl honours in two of his four NFL seasons. 'Rashawn Slater is a cornerstone of our offensive line,' Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz told local reporters during training camp. Slater's absence from training camp practices had been a point of speculation, as he held out while awaiting a contract extension. However, he reported to camp on July 16, signaling his commitment to the team despite the ongoing negotiations. The resolution of these discussions has paved the way for Slater to return to the field, likely rejoining his teammates for the Los Angeles Chargers' next practice session. The Los Angeles Chargers' investment in Rashawn Slater highlights their strategy to build a strong offensive front. With $92 million guaranteed, the team has shown confidence in Slater's ability to remain a top-tier performer through 2029. As the NFL continues to prioritize quarterback protection, Slater's record-breaking deal could set a precedent for future contracts at the position. This extension is a win for both Rashawn Slater and the Los Angeles Chargers, ensuring that one of the league's best young linemen remains a part of the franchise for the foreseeable future.

Even though the league offered that huge amount to Caitlin Clark earlier this year, it looks like Angel Reese won't be getting the same deal. And now, Ice Cube himself has made it clear why. Ice Cube says Caitlin Clark deal made financial sense, but not Angel Reese This week, on July 25, 2025, Ice Cube was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). TMZ Sports asked him if Angel Reese would get a similar offer to Clark. His answer was simple no. Not because he doesn't support Reese, but because the business side of things just doesn't make it work. Ice Cube, the co-founder of the BIG3 league, said he had no personal problem with Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. He said he respects her as a player. But he explained that sponsors told him Caitlin Clark would bring in big money and that same excitement wasn't promised with Angel Reese. 'They didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese,' Cube told TMZ Sports during the brief interview at LAX. The BIG3 had offered Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark $5 million in March 2024 to play in their 3-on-3 league while still playing in the WNBA. That agreement never materialized, though. Rather, Clark decided to concentrate on her first WNBA season. Angel Reese continues strong WNBA season without BIG3 offer Angel Reese is enjoying an amazing first year in the WNBA.
