Anwar's Paris visit a success, marks revival of partnerships across all sectors, says Macron
PARIS - French President Emmanuel Macron has regarded Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit a success, with the two leaders jointly reviving partnerships across all sectors.
'You have had high-level meetings with the Prime Minister (François Bayrou) and other key officials, delivered an important speech at the Sorbonne (University), engaged with civil society leaders, and met with our business community,' Mr Macron said to Mr Anwar.
He added the rapprochement between the two nations' economies and shared diversification strategies were essential.
Mr Macron was referring to the newly signed project in the critical minerals and rare earths sector with the company Carester, which just opened a plant in Lacq; in transport, with the
historic cooperation between Malaysia Airlines and Airbus ; and also in the field of energy transition.
'In South-East Asia, I reiterated our support for regional electricity connectivity, including support for civil nuclear energy,' he said.
'I must also mention the exchanges between our artists, researchers, academics, and students — all those who bring the France-Malaysia relationship to life. New agreements are in view to continue weaving this human connection between our countries.'
Mr Anwar said the collaboration in the private sector is why Government-to-Government arrangements, exchanges with ministers, and exchange of policies should continue at the higher level.

Historians say the Ustashe systematically persecuted and murdered Jews, Serbs and Roma between 1941 and 1945. Thompson has previously said that his songs simply represent a love of God, family, homeland and people. His fans, many young and carrying or wearing Croatian flags, agreed. Elder Jose Arteaga, known as El Costeño, was arrested on suspicion of inducing the 15-year-old charged with shooting the politician at a rally in Colombia's capital Bogota on June 7 to commit the crime, the sources said. Arteaga, who the two sources said has a long criminal record, was detained in a neighborhood in western Bogota, a day after Colombian police said Interpol issued a red notice for his arrest. Colombian police chief Carlos Fernando Triana said in a post on social media on Friday that Arteaga was wanted for "aggravated attempted homicide; manufacture, trafficking and carrying of firearms or ammunition; and use of minors for the commission of crimes." Uribe - a 39-year-old presidential pre-candidate for the conservative opposition Democratic Center party - was shot twice in the head and once in his left leg, according to state prosecutors. He has undergone several serious surgeries since the attack, which left him in critical condition.
