Cabin crew help deliver Thai passenger's baby mid-air on Air India Express Muscat-Mumbai flight
Upon landing in the city, the baby and mother were admitted to hospital. Both are in good health.
The unscheduled birth has upset the travel plans of the mother, who boarded the Air India Express flight from Muscat with her one-year-old infant to fly to Bangkok via Mumbai, as now as travel documents need to be prepared, topmost being Indian visa for the three. For at least a week now, the trio will have to stay put in Mumbai because of the airline's age restriction for babies.
Also, the newborn will need a passport.
The passenger went into labour about 45 minutes before the flight was to land in Mumbai, said a source. Since Mumbai was the closest airport at that time, the flight did not divert.

Among the crew who helped with the delivery was senior cabin crew Sneha Naga, along with other flight attendants, Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid, and Muskan Chauhan. The flight was piloted by Capt Ashish Vaghani and Capt Faraz Ahmed.
"The pilots alerted the air traffic control to request priority landing at Mumbai, where medical teams and an ambulance were ready on arrival. Upon touchdown, both mother and baby were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for further care, accompanied by a female airline staff member to provide continued support," it said, adding that Air India Express is in touch with the Consulate General of Thailand in Mumbai to support the passenger's onward journey to their home country.

10 Indian Nationals Denied Entry Into Malaysia Despite Visa-Free Provision: Report
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) on Friday denied entry to 10 Indian nationals at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), despite the country's ongoing visa-free facility for Indian passport holders. According to MalayMail, the Malaysian authorities said that the group of Indians were among 99 foreign travellers blocked from entering the country. They were subjected to security checks at terminal 1 of the airport and part of a larger seven-hour operation to scan visitors. According to the outlet, the Malaysian immigration authorities said that over 400 passengers were screened during the operation targeting high-risk flights. Of those denied entry, 80 were Bangladeshi nationals, 10 Indian nationals and 9 Pakistani nationals. All were men, officials said. In a statement, the authorities stated that all 99 deported failed to meet immigration checks. "They were denied as they failed to meet immigration checks, including having suspicious reasons for visiting and travel records," officials stated. "They underwent further documentation processes before being deported to their countries of origin according to existing legal procedures," the agency continued, adding that the checks involved background screening, checks on travel documents and individual interviews. The AKPS stressed that such operations will be conducted regularly to curb misuse of social visit passes and prevent human trafficking. Notably, this comes after Malaysia extended its visa-free entry facility for Indian tourists until December 31, 2026. Under this, Indians can stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa. The Malaysian government is hopeful that by simplifying the entry process, it can attract more tourists and increase their spending within the country, thereby contributing to Malaysia's economic development.

Risky situations fail to dissuade Major Kavitha from rafting forward!
Visakhapatnam: Breaking stereotypes and braving the odds, Medical Officer of Indian Army Major Kavitha Vasupalli embarked upon a horrendous journey laced with life-threatening risks and insurmountable challenges. Spanning 1,040-km from the Indo-Tibetan border, Arunachal Pradesh to the Indo-Bangladesh border, she took part in a historic and daring river rafting expedition along the Brahmaputra River. Led by Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal, director NIMAS, a Tenzing Norgay awardee, the expedition is considered equivalent in challenge to summiting Mount Everest in the adventure space. Apparently, Maj Kavitha turned out to be the only woman participant in this world-record journey that began in the month of February. She successfully summited Mt. Gori Chen, the highest climbable peak in Arunachal Pradesh. Despite rough weather conditions, she rendered emergency medical aid to a fellow climber at high altitude. Serving the Indian Army from 2021, Kavitha, a native of nondescript village of Metturu, pursued her MBBS at Government Medical College in Srikakulam district. Apart from getting awarded with Chief of Army Staff commendation 2025, Major Kavitha was honoured with Vishisht Seva Medal on the Republic Day this year for her exemplary courage, service and dedication. Her name gained an entry into the World Book of Records (London) for this achievement. After wrapping up the outstanding feat along with the team, Kavitha met Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer. Heaping praise on her, the Governor said, 'We often hear spiritual or geographical tales of the Brahmaputra, but this is the first time I've heard of an adventurous story of battle and bravery on its waters. Major Kavitha's adventure is one of sheer determination and grit. She has brought pride to Andhra Pradesh and to every Indian who takes pride in the Armed Forces. The Governor encouraged Kavitha to continue inspiring others and keep bringing honour to the state and country. Sharing her experience, Kavitha recalled, 'The Brahmaputra was magnificent. But it's also merciless. One day, a giant wave had hit us with such force that our raft flipped. In those few seconds, we were completely underwater, unsure of whether we would be alive or not. But we didn't panic as we trusted our training. We held on to each other and eventually survived. That moment showed me how thin the line is between life and death and how powerful courage and calmness could be.' Fond of swimming since childhood, Kavitha says, 'I'm a girl from a remote village in Srikakulam. If I could make it, so can anyone,' she adds.

Haryana Chief Minister Highlights Van Mahotsav as Commitment to Environmental Preservation and Green Future; State-Level Van Mahotsav Symbolises Our Commitment to a Green Future: CM Nayab Singh Saini.
Kalesar (Yamunanagar): Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday reaffirmed the state's commitment to environmental sustainability, declaring the Van Mahotsav as a celebration of nature, citizen responsibility, and intergenerational well-being. Speaking at the state-level Van Mahotsav that the forest department had organised in Kalesar, Saini said: "When we plant a tree, we sow the seeds of life and hope." He urged citizens to stay rooted in nature even as rapid modernisation reshapes their lives. Before the main event, the CM visited the historical Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple, inaugurated a forest department rest house, and took part in a tree plantation campaign. Record-breaking plantation Saini has announced that Haryana aims to plant 2.1 crore saplings this year under the Centre's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched on World Environment Day. The state has exceeded its phase-I target already by planting more than 1.8 crore trees. The second phase, launched on June 5, aims to add 90 lakh more saplings, along with 1.20 crore under other schemes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Green corridors, eco-tourism Saini also outlined plans to develop the Kalka-Kalesar belt into an eco-tourism hub, calling Kalesar "a treasure trove of biodiversity and a haven for nature lovers". He said the region, known for its trekking trails and rich flora and fauna, was vital to Haryana's sustainable tourism strategy. Wildlife conservation Emphasising on forest and wildlife protection, the CM said the forest department had stepped up patrols and anti-poaching efforts in sensitive zones like Kalesar National Park. Recent sightings of elephant herds, including successful rehabilitation efforts in Bansantor, reflect positive ecological outcomes. The state has also constructed dams in the Shivalik region to store water for wildlife and recharge groundwater. Scheme honours old trees In a unique move, the govt is granting an annual ₹3,000 "pension" under the Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme to caretakers of trees over 75 years old. So far, ₹1 crore has been disbursed for the upkeep of 3,800 heritage trees. Since October 2014, more than 18 crore saplings have been planted across Haryana. Their survival and growth are being tracked through drone-based geo-tagging and five-year monitoring protocols. Publications released To mark the occasion, the CM released two forest ddepartment publications — Haryana Forest News and Pran Vayu Devta — aimed at educating the public on conservation efforts and native tree species. Environment and forest minister Rao Narbir Singh called the 'One Tree in Mother's Name' campaign a transformative initiative, while local MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora encouraged citizens to nurture saplings for at least a year. Additional chief secretary Anand Mohan Sharan and principal chief conservator of forests Vineet Kumar Garg were among the local dignitaries in attendance. The Van Mahotsav concluded with a message that sustainable development and ecological stewardship must go hand in hand. MSID:: 122956245 413 |
