Rosie O'Donnell supported by fans after sad admission ahead of Edinburgh shows
The Hollywood star, known for The Rosie O'Donnell Show and hosting The View, will be performing at the Fringe from August 1 to 10. The eleven-time Emmy and Tony Award winner, who recently moved to Ireland, has promised an evening of 'humour and honesty' where she'll share her opnions on the 'subjects that matter the most'.
The show, Common Knowledge, will be at The Gilded Balloon at Appleton Tower. However, with only a number of weeks before it kicks off, the actress has admitted it 'isn't easy'.

Speaking in a clip posted on TikTok, she said: "I've got this sore throat starting, not exciting.
"I've got Wimbledon on mute and I'm trying to memorise my show for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which is August 1 to 10. I've got about three weeks to do it.
"I've got to tell you, it's not as easy as it was when I was younger. I used to read it a couple of times and I'd be good.

"A little overwhelming, but I'm very excited. Luckily I have a whole bunch of people working with me, and we're going to get it done."
Her followers rallied behind her in the comments section. One posted: "You will knock it out of the park."
Another added: "We are behind you every step of the way, sending much love and support as always."

I can't stop rewatching this dark comedy show from the 2000s on Prime Video – here's why it's still worth streaming

The British sitcom from the early 2000s has been my go-to whenever I don't know what to watch for quite some time now, and for good reasons. For the uninitiated, Peep Show follows the miseries of self-doubting, uptight loan manager called Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell), who rents a room in his South London flat to Jeremy Usbourne (Robert Webb), aka Jez, an overconfident and impulsive musician. Together, they stumble, blindly through day-to-day life, usually ending up in a desperate situation of their own making. There's something weirdly cozy about watching two awkward flatmates spiral through life's small humiliations, especially when their internal monologues are so brutally honest – and endlessly quotable. I'm not ashamed to admit that I often find myself referencing memorable lines from the series. Don't believe me? Given that I'm writing about a TV show, I can't help but think about a fitting scene from one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, 'Seasonal Beatings' (episode 5 of season 7), where Mark is discussing what to watch next: "We watched all the Losts and they were… somewhat okay, and Heroes had some interesting themes, but also quite a lot of… not so interesting themes. And Prison Break, by the end I very much wanted to break out of the prison that Prison Break had become for us." Unlike many other shows, Peep Show isn't just "somewhat okay". It does have interesting themes and I never want to break out of my habit of streaming it on repeat. Whether you're discovering it for the first time on one of the best streaming services or rewatching it for the umpteenth time like me, Peep Show remains one of the most unique and rewarding comedies out there. Why you should (still) watch Peep Show The series features some of the best side characters you'll ever meet. From Jez's 'moreish' bandmate Super Hans (Matt King) and Mark's ruthless boss Alan Johnson (Paterson Joseph) to Mark's love interests Sophie (Olivia Coleman) and Dobby (Isy Suttie), the supporting cast are every bit as quirky and engaging as the two leads. Peep Show's cringe humor often sees the show get compared to another well-loved sitcom you might have heard of: The Office. But while both shows are filled with awkward silences and cringe-inducing lead characters, Peep Show is in a class of its own. Its humor is more polished (yes, there are moments of chaos but it doesn't turn slapstick), its underlining themes are much darker (in one episode it goes to the 'heart of darkness') and its characters are far more deluded (the show really doesn't hold back on just how much so at times). But at the same time, it's not doing any of this in a pretentious way. Indeed, there's no gloss here. The flats are grim, the jobs are soul-crushing (although one character does get close to the 'big three': 'museum, lunch and a snooze'), and the dreams are small. But that's what makes the show so easy to watch, because it doesn't pretend to be anything grand. The secondhand embarrassment you feel from the comedy is all amplified by the shaky point-of-view (POV) filming that the show is known for. There's nowhere for the viewer to hide. You see everything up close, making you feel like you're inside the lead characters' heads. While the filming style is unique, it can also take some getting used to. The first season was very much still finding its (rainbow) rhythm with the POV camerawork, and mounted head cameras to the actors to produce the effect – the quality of the footage these cameras produced was quite low, which is why they're used less later in the series. Basically, don't skip the first season because you're put off by the video quality; stick with it, because you'll be rewarded with some of the best gags in the series, including one that makes a reappearance in season 5, which you wouldn't otherwise get if you skipped it. What also makes it such a comforting TV show to stream is that the episodes are short, usually just under 30 minutes, but a lot still happens throughout. Peep Show is the perfect series for short sittings when you need something light to watch because you can easily tune in and out of it. So what are you waiting for? Pour yourself a massive drink. Turn on the TV and crack open this exceptionally funny show that deserves your attention immediately. Merry Peep Show watching everyone! Girl, 10, given birthday surprise by Myles Smith
A 10-year-old girl had the surprise of a lifetime when singer Myles Smith visited her at school and sung her happy birthday. Matilda from Ipswich, along with her classmates, was given the surprise on Friday ahead of Smith, 27, supporting Ed Sheeran at Portman Road stadium that night. Secretly her mother, Kate Nunn, had set it up after she saw Smith went on "side quests" when visiting places across the UK. Matilda said at first she thought it was going to be "some random singer". "We went into the performing arts room and we had to close our eyes because someone was going to come in," she explained. "Two people came in and we had to close our eyes again, then Myles Smith came in." "I felt dizzy and I thought it was all just a dream. "He sung some of his songs and then he sung me Happy Birthday." Matilda said her friends had told her she was "so lucky" and she had watched a video of the moment back "a million" times. "He was very kind," she added. She later attended the Sheeran concert that night and saw Smith during his support act. Ms Nunn organised the surprised two weeks before it happened and kept it from her daughter. "I'd seen that he'd done side quests when he has gone places, surprised fans, and been and done things," she explained. "I just reached out to his management team and they were happy to arrange it all. "[They were] so, so lovely." Smith shared the visit on his TikTok account and described the visit as "so wholesome". The video has been seen over 84,000 times with 7,700 likes and 236 comments. At the end of last year, Smith, who is from Luton, was announced as the winner the Brit Awards' Rising Star prize for 2025. The singer started posting covers online during the Covid lockdowns and quickly gained popularity. His top streamed songs on Spotify include Stargazing, Nice to Meet You and Solo. Billie Eilish is heading up north to perform at the Co-Op Live for four nights - but what can you bring in with you? The 23-year-old singer-songwriter is finally bringing her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour to Manchester for four night at the Co-Op Live on July 19, 20, 22 and 23. Billie announced this major world tour back in April 2024, a month before she released her latest album of the same name. She kicked off her tour in Canada before heading to America, then Europe. Devices like laptops, iPads, Go Pros, and similar items are also not allowed, unless pre-approved for medical reasons. Other banned items include: Weapons, ammunition, explosives, horns, whistles, drums, fireworks, flagpoles and any other item which in their reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to any event or other visitors (regardless of whether such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes). What is the bag policy? Co-op Live operates on a one bag per person policy. Small handbags are permitted as long as they are no larger than A4 in size. However, large bags, like backpacks and laptop bags, will not be allowed inside the venue. There will be limited bag storage on site priced from £15. This facility is located on Sir Howard Bernstein Way - opposite Gate J in the Orange Car Park on the Etihad Campus.
