Neil Diamond popped up in an Los Angeles theatre audience on Saturday evening and sang an impromptu performance of his hit Sweet Caroline.
The 84-year-old singer attended A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical at the Pantages Theatre this weekend when he took to the microphone from the crowd, seven years after he announced his Parkinson's diagnosis and retirement from touring.
A glorious Instagram video shows Neil, wearing a low-key cap and a blue jumper, popping up from the audience with a microphone as the surrounding crowd sang the lyrics back to him and cheered in appreciation.
The footage, posted by the musical's official account, showed the lead – American Idol winner Nick Fradiani – introducing the Forever in Blue Jeans hitmaker, before he erupted into his greatest hit.
They captioned the post: 'A moment we'll never forget.'
Fans were loving the moment, as Instagram user mbk11341106 said: 'What a treat for his long time fans…I saw the show twice on Broadway and it was phenomenal.'
'This is so beautiful to see Neil so happy and to hear him sing, I love Neil Diamond forever,' wrote birgitkniepert.
In 2018, Neil revealed his Parkinson's diagnosis and announced he would not tour again, though he's made the occasional performance since as he did this weekend.
Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects the body's motor system, often causing shaking and movement difficulty, which can become debilitating.
Announcing his diagnosis, Neil insisted at the time he would 'remain active' in the business.
'I plan to remain active in writing, recording, and other projects for a long time to come,' he assured fans.
'My thanks goes out to my loyal and devoted audiences around the world. You will always have my appreciation for your support and encouragement.'
In a nod to his biggest tune, Neil concluded: 'This ride has been 'so good, so good, so good' thanks to you.'
In 2023, Neil updated fans on his condition, revealing he'd finally come to terms with the diagnosis.
'A calm has moved [into] the hurricane of my life, and things have gotten very quiet, as quiet as this recording studio,' he said.
'And I like it. I find that I like myself better. I'm easier on people. I'm easier on myself. And the beat goes on, and it will go on long after I'm gone.'
Neil was joined at the LA show by his wife Katie McNeil, who he married in 2012 after they first met in 2007 when she worked with the star's manager, Irving Azoff.
'Part of me said, 'Don't get involved; he's a client,'' McNeil told Parade in June 2012. 'There are a lot of complications for a lot of reasons. But our chemistry grew into something that couldn't be denied.' More Trending
In 2022, Neil sold his entire music catalogue including 110 unreleased tracks and a never before heard album, to Universal Music.
Diamond said about the decision: 'After nearly a decade in business with UMG, I am thankful for the trust and respect that we have built together.
'I feel confident in the knowledge that…the global team at UMG will continue to represent my catalogue and future releases with the same passion and integrity that have always fuelled my career.'

Posting a now-deleted rant on Instagram, Shappi said she and her fellow students had popped in for an end-of-term drink when the incident unfolded. She wrote: "I'm at The Grange pub in Ealing for the last time because they told my friend off because her skirt showed the outline of her knickers in a certain light. And she was told that it was a family pub.' "We're never coming back here again because in the summertime at The Grange pub, you're not allowed to wear summer clothes. Otherwise you get shamed. But the bar staff have all got their bra straps showing.' Shappi said her friend was too upset to appear on camera. She explained: 'We were just mature students having a pint, not a threat to anyone's 'family values'. She was wearing a completely normal summer outfit.' The TV personality also questioned how closely the staff must've been looking, asking: 'How hard was she staring??? I couldn't see it. The bar manager's bra straps, also underwear, were visible. She got quite annoyed when we respectfully pointed this out.' Shappi said she approached another member of staff to calmly point out how unfair the situation was - but claimed she was met with aggression. She wrote: "I (mildly sunburnt, drinking shandy responsibly) calmly pointed out to a (again, female) member of the bar staff that this was ridiculous and was promptly shoulder-barged in a strop. When contacted for comment, a spokesperson said: 'We recognise that on this occasion, our manager may have misjudged the situation in her interpretation of the smart casual dress code we respectfully ask customers of the Grange to adhere to, and we have apologised to the impacted party for any offence caused. Stranger Things teaser promises explosive finale as fans worry for characters' fate

Stranger Things is returning this November for the fifth and final season, with fans worrying about the fate of some of the characters Netflix just dropped a teaser trailer for season five of Stranger Things, airing almost a decade after the very first episode was released. The almost three-minute-long trailer made fans panic about the fate of a beloved character as they rushed to social media to beg for their safety. ‌ Fans noticed a lot of crying in the trailer, making them question who will be meeting their demise. The trailer starts off with the main characters waiting around in what appears to be a bunker as a voice rings out: "Burn commencing in five... four... three... two... and one," before writing appeared on screen telling fans the show is coming out in November. ‌ ‌ One scene shows Lucas Sinclair, played by Caleb McLaughlin, crying as he sat by a hospital bed occupied by a unconscious girl - who fans are convinced is Max Mayfield (played by Sadie Sink). Later in the trailer, Lucas was seen protecting what could be the same person, now awake and rocking a hospital gown. In the previous season, Max was left comatose after a harrowing encounter with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), and despite Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) efforts, she remained unresponsive in a hospital bed as the season concluded. ‌ Another showcased Dustin Henderson (played by Gaten Matarazzo) kneeling by Edward Munson's (Joseph Quinn) grave, which was vandalised with the words 'Burn in hell.' "This thing," one voice said. "It ties us together. Forever." Fans were over the moon with the trailer as they rushed to the comment section to share their excitement over the upcoming release. ‌ One user said on Netflix's Instagram post: "Oh my gosh. Goosebumps," while another posted: "Please, leave my favourite character alive. my man Steve Harrington." Another repeated to themself: "Steve is safe steve is safe steve is safe steve is safe steve is safe," while one worried fan commented: "When Steve is hugging Dustin that looks like something bad just happened." The much-anticipated final season of Stranger Things is set in the autumn of 1987, and according to the official synopsis: "Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. ‌ "But he has vanished - his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. "As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. "The final battle is looming - and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone - the full party - standing together, one last time."

American Idol's Jessica Sanchez announces pregnancy as Simon Cowell shares sweet reaction

American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez announced during an audition on America's Got Talent, which aired this week, that she's expecting a baby with her husband Former American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez has announced that she's pregnant. The singer-songwriter shared the news in her latest audition for America's Got Talent (AGT), which aired earlier this week in the US. ‌ Jessica, 29, returned to AGT this year after having previously been a semi-finalist on the first season of the NBC show, which began in 2006. She auditioned again for the latest season and got a golden buzzer from Sofia Vergara, 53. ‌ Ahead of her performance for the judges and audience, Jessica updated them on her life since her first appearance. She shared: "I'm married now and I'm actually ... another surprising thing is ... I recently found out that I'm pregnant." ‌ Simon Cowell, 65, who has an 11-year-old son, said: "What? Oh my god. Congratulations. This is amazing." After Jessica confirmed that it's her first child, he said: "Let me tell you - this is the best thing that can ever happen in your life ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. I'm very happy for you." Jessica has since announced the news on Instagram. This afternoon she shared a series of photos alongside a caption about expecting her first child with her husband Rickie Gallardo. She began by writing: "Our hearts are so full." ‌ She continued in the post: "This is my first time sharing about the pregnancy, and it's been so hard keeping it quiet these past 5 months! Thank you all for the love, support, and sweet messages — it truly means the world. Most of all, thank You God for this beautiful blessing growing inside me." The post included photos of Jessica showcasing her baby bump, with her seen beside her husband Rickie in some of them. It also featured a photo of an ultrasound scan and another included several positive pregnancy tests. After first announcing her pregnancy on AGT, Jessica performed a cover of Benson Boone's Beautiful Things. She received a standing ovation from the judges before being met with praise from Simon, Mel B and Howie Mandel. ‌ Sofia was the last of the judges to share her feedback. She described the performance as a "special moment" and ended up hitting the golden buzzer, which guarantees Jessica a place in the upcoming quarter-finals. Sharing her thoughts, judge Sofia told her: "Something very special happened on this stage with you. It's so amazing that we're on the 20th anniversary, the 20th season, of AGT. You're here again after 20 years. You're pregnant. I mean ... you're so beautiful. You're so ready to do all this." ‌ Earlier in the audition, Jessica had reflected on her return to AGT after first competing in the debut season when she was a child. She reached the semi-finals of the competition in 2006 but didn't progress through to the grand finals. Six years after appearing on the show, Jessica competed on American Idol in 2012, though Simon had already left the judging panel by then. She reached the final of the Fox show and placed as runner-up behind winner Phillip Phillips. Jessica, who has released music since then, shared with the judges on AGT that she had "fell out of love" with music over the years. She said in her latest audition: "Throughout the years, I kind of fell out of love with music because I was really young and I was so swayed by what everybody wanted me to be, who they wanted me to be. And so y'know, maybe it took me 20 years but I know exactly who I am. I know exactly what I want. I'm excited to be back."
