Delhi Police unveils emblems for Finger Print Bureau, bomb squad
Delhi Police unveiled emblems for two of its key units, the Finger Print Bureau (FPB) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), at an event at the police headquarters on Thursday. Officials said that the emblems will start being featured on jackets worn by team members and in official communication as well.
Police commissioner Sanjay Arora unveiled the logos and said that they symbolise the 'professionalism and dedication' of these specialised units.
Special commissioner of police (crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastava said that the FPB has been a part of the crime branch since 1983, and plays a key role in crime-solving through forensic analysis. 'The FPB currently maintains a database of over five lakh criminals and uses advanced systems like AFPIS, CRIS, and the national-level NAFIS to match chance prints lifted from crime scenes,' he said.
'The BDS, along with the Bomb Detection Team (BDT), was set up in 2002 and remains at the front lines of Delhi's counter-explosive operations. Equipped with state-of-the-art devices and trained in collaboration with NSG, BSF, and CRPF, these teams respond round-the-clock to bomb threats, conduct anti-sabotage checks, and secure high-risk venues,' he said.

Jaipur: A hoax email about explosives planted at Jaipur International Airport triggered a major security operation on Sunday, leading to a multi-agency response and a sweeping search that lasted for several hours. Officials said airport authorities received an email warning of imminent explosions at the airport complex, prompting security forces into action. Within minutes, bomb disposal squads (BDS), anti-sabotage teams (AST), and quick reaction teams (QRTs) were deployed to the site. All agencies coordinated under standard operating procedures and carried out a thorough search of the terminal and adjoining areas. Sniffer dogs assisted in the operation as personnel combed through every nook and corner of the facility. The search continued for several hours, leading to temporary disruptions in routine airport activities. Senior officers of Jaipur police said the airport premises were cleared after an exhaustive inspection, in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force. "We followed all mandated safety protocols and found no suspicious object during the operation," a senior officer said. In addition to the physical search, police teams also reviewed CCTV footage from across the airport to check for any unusual activity. However, nothing out of the ordinary was detected. Speaking to TOI, police officers said preliminary investigation strongly suggests the email to be a hoax. "It appears to be a case of mischief with malicious intent to cause panic. In light of repeated attempts to disrupt public peace, the city police constituted a dedicated cyber investigation team to trace the source of the latest email. Officials said efforts were on to track down the origin server and IP address used to send the message. "Action will be taken against whoever is found responsible for this false alarm," an officer said.

Churu girl rescued in Delhi from being trafficked to Oman
Jhunjhunu: An 18-year-old girl from Taranagar in Churu district was intercepted by police at Indira Gandhi International Airport with the assistance of Oman embassy and Delhi Police, just before she was to board a flight to Oman. Yadav said the girl's brother reported that his 18-year-old sister left home without informing anyone, taking along Rs 1 lakh and gold and silver jewellery. The police formed a team, contacted Delhi Police and the Oman embassy, and intercepted the girl at the international airport in Delhi, he said. Yadav said that the girl was brainwashed by a man named Mohammad Islam on social media and was trapped by him. Three months ago, he arranged for her passport and transported her from Taranagar to Delhi Airport by cab. From there, he planned to take her to Muscat, Oman, by flight, where she would likely be sold. However, the police managed to intercept her beforehand. Action will be taken against Islam, a resident of Taranagar who lives in Muscat, Oman, he said. Yadav appealed to the public to monitor their children's activities when giving them mobile phones.

Caught ‘taking bribe', Delhi cop suffers anxiety attack, lands in hospital
Caught in the act of allegedly taking a Rs 25,000 bribe, a Delhi Police head constable suffered an anxiety attack and landed in the hospital, officers said. The incident took place at North Delhi's Burari police station on Friday night when a team from the Vigilance department was lying in wait to arrest the head constable. DCP (Vigilance) Anyesh Roy confirmed the developments and said that the policeman is out of danger. 'He would be arrested as soon as he is discharged from the hospital, and further investigation will continue,' DCP Roy said. According to the police, the Vigilance team received a complaint from a businessman in Burari; he alleged that the head constable demanded a bribe of Rs 75,000 to not remove his personal mobile tower from his terrace. The resident, who lives in West Kamal Vihar, had a complaint registered against him at the Burari police station by his neighbours, who claimed that he had put a mobile tower on his terrace. 'The head constable then contacted the resident and demanded Rs 75,000 from him for not initiating the removal of his tower,' a police officer said. The resident then filed a complaint with the Vigilance department. Police said he was asked to offer the bribe to the accused officer in three tranches of Rs 25,000 each while they laid a trap. 'On Friday night, the complainant went to the Burari police station with the money, and the team from the Vigilance department caught the head constable in the act,' the officer said. Police said the head constable had a bout of anxiety and complained of uneasiness. He was taken to the Burari hospital, where he is in the ICU. On Saturday, senior officers also ordered an inquiry against the SHO of Burari station to ascertain his role in the bribery case. In the meantime, the responsibilities of the SHO would be taken over by Inspector (ATO) Jaspal Singh.
