He also stressed upon fresh initiatives including creation of a committee consisting of five persons from each state below the age of 35 years to bring out fresh ideas and perspectives on museums in the country.
"Prime Minister advised that a compilation of all the legal battles and documents relating to the Emergency period may be prepared and preserved in light of the completion of 50 years after the Emergency," said culture ministry.
Modi was chairing an annual general meeting of the PMML Society, which was also attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other members.
Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat were also present. The government re-constituted the PMML Society early this year, with former Union Minister Smriti Irani and noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur finding a place in it.The PM helms the key decision-making body of the PMML as its president and the defence minister as vice-president.
Modi also put forward a visionary concept of a 'Museum Map of India', aimed at providing a unified cultural and informational landscape of museums across the country.
Underlining the importance of increased use of technology, he further suggested development of a comprehensive national database of all museums in the country, incorporating key metrics such as footfall and quality standards. He suggested regular workshops for those managing and operating museums, with a focus on capacity building and knowledge sharing.
According to the ministry, PM also asked to engage top influencers and invite them to visit the museums including the officials of embassies to Indian museums to increase the awareness about the rich heritage preserved in Indian Museums.
"During the meeting, Prime Minister emphasised that museums hold immense significance across the world and have the power to make us experience history. He underlined the need to make continuous efforts to generate public interest in museums and to enhance their prestige in society," said ministry's statement.
Later, PM also planted a sapling of Kapur (Cinnamomum camphora) on the campus of Teen Murti House symbolizing growth, heritage, and sustainability.
The PM also highlighted the importance of preserving and documenting the present in a systematic manner. He noted that by strengthening our current systems and records, we can ensure that future generations and researchers in particular will be able to study and understand this period without difficulty.
Other Members of the PMML Society also shared their suggestions and insights for further enhancement of the Museum and Library.
Besides Irani, newly appointed director of Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) Ashwani Lohani and former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Nripendra Mishra, who got another five-year term as the organisation's chairperson, also attended the meeting.
There are many new entrants in the prestigious institution's society, including Irani, Kapur, former NITI Aayog Vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar, retired Army officer Syed Ata Hasnain and Sanskar Bharati's Vasudev Kamath. PMML is housed in Teen Murti Bhawan, which also hosts the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Raising his demand for a comprehensive probe into alleged irregularities in ANERT (Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology), senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty is also involved in the scam. Chennithala alleged irregularities in a Rs 240-crore tender issued for installing solar pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme. It's the second time Chennithala is raising the issue. He has called for legislative scrutiny and accused the power minister of being involved in the alleged scam. Chennithala alleged that ANERT CEO Narendranath Veluri exceeded his authority by sanctioning the tender, despite being permitted to approve contracts only up to Rs 5 crore. Chennithala said he would release more documents in the coming days related to the project. Both the minister and the ANERT CEO dismissed the allegations, stating that all relevant files had already been reviewed by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). Speaking to TNIE, Veluri said, 'The CAG has examined all our files and found no irregularities. Kerala is the only state that successfully implemented the PM-KUSUM project, and our model has even been shared with Telangana. Details of the implementation are available with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. This allegation seems to be a politically motivated.'

AP Chambers seeks a ban on export of raw human hair
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) has submitted a detailed representation to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu urging his personal intervention to stop the export of raw human hair, especially non-Remy (comb waste/GAoli/Chutti) hair, to safeguard the domestic human hair industry. In the representation, AP Chambers' president Potluri Bhaskara Rao and general secretary B Rajasekhar highlighted that in the last 20 years, the demand for Non-Remy Hair had gone up exponentially and Chinese buyers were buying huge quantities till 2012-13 from Indian exporters. But in the last 10 years, China has started reducing legal imports by smuggling Non-Remy (Comb Waste Hair) through Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Nepal where it is processed with child labour and again smuggled to China across border to avoid duties. Despite an earlier ban imposed in March 2022 by DGFT, exports resumed shortly after, including by previously blacklisted traders. Non-Remy Hair forms 85 percent of total exports and only 15 percent of hair is Remy Hair, sourced from temples, which is sold in auction/direct sales by temples. They pointed out that the Indian Human Hair Extension and Wig industry, currently valued at Rs 8,000 crore, has the potential to grow to Rs 30,000 crore in the next decade. The industry, which has a major presence in Madepalli and Eluru, provides employment to over 10 lakh women across rural India. AP Chambers also made key suggestions including the export of raw human hair having ITC (HS) Code 05010010 should be strictly prohibited to make it available for Indian hair processors for value-addition, Remy-type hair from temples should not be sold to China or Chinese agents, restrict temple hair auctions only to registered manufacturers/exporters and not to illegal trader to support 'Make it India' initiative of the Union government, establishment of a dedicated research chair for human hair at IIT Chennai to foster R & D, reduction of duties on human hair imported by countries wherever India has any bilateral agreements, incentives or subsidies to hair exported to African countries as they are the biggest consumers of hair and wigs as they will help boost the exports to African countries. Bhaskara Rao emphasised that this is a unique industry that transforms waste into valuable foreign exchange while empowering lakhs of women through rural employment. He requested the Chief Minister to take up the matter with the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the human hair industry in Andhra Pradesh and India.

Elocution competition on Indian Constitution from July 20
Ongole: Prakasam Zilla Abhivriddhi Vedika president Chunduri Rangarao announced that in association with Organisation for Protection of Democratic Rights, Constitutional Rights Protection Forum, and other public fronts, they are conducting an elocution competition on Constitution of India, from July 20 to 26 in Ongole, to educate citizens about their fundamental rights and responsibilities. Speaking at a press conference in Ongole on Friday, Rangarao emphasised that every citizen must develop awareness about the Constitution and protect the rights and responsibilities it guarantees. He highlighted that the Indian Constitution, crafted under Dr BR Ambedkar's leadership and implemented on January 26, 1950, is the world's finest constitution after studying the constitutions of various countries. He described the Constitution as India's 'Dharma Sastra', and noted that all Indian citizens are duty-bound to accept it. Chunduri Rangarao, OPDR AP president; Chavali Sudhakar, PTSU AP vice president; Rajasekhar, and others explained that the elocution competition will be held in students and youth categories, from July 20 to 26, between 10 am and 2 pm, at Media Cameramen Association Bhavan, in Devudu Cheruvu, Ongole. They informed that there is a cash prize of Rs 10,000 for first, second, and third positions, along with 10 consolation prizes and prize distribution will be held in August first week, with retired Central Information Commission Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar as the chief guest. The organisers encouraged maximum participation in the competition to ensure the program's success. They emphasized that awareness of the Constitution at the student level is crucial for the nation's comprehensive development.
