Minister Bharath exhorts students to adopt technology
The Minister on Monday gave away the Shining Stars awards to the students who excelled in the recently announced SSC and intermediate examination results, at an event organised at a private function hall in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bharath said the State government had decided to give the awards and also a certificate and ₹20,000 cash to encourage students to further excel in academics. He said students are game changers and they can change the world with their innovative ideas.
The Minister asked the parents to encourage their children to choose a career of their interest and not to force their ideas on the children. He said engineering and medicine are not the only careers for the students and there are several other sectors which can be explored by the students.
Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy expressed happiness over students of government schools excelling on par with those from private schools. She said poverty should not come in the way of academics and the State government is providing many opportunities for the children to study. She said the NDA government had sanctioned ₹5 crore to KGBV schools in four mandals and another ₹3 crore for taking up repairs to BC and SC hostels in Panyam Assembly Constituency alone. Further, steps are being taken to develop the IIT Ambedkar NEET Academy at Chinna Tekur and ₹10 lakh has been sanctioned from CSR funds.
Incharge Collector B. Navya said the State government is providing all facilities at the government schools on par with private schools.
In Nandyal district, Minister for Minority Welfare N.. Md. Farooq gave away the awards to 182 SSC students and 35 intermediate students. He said the good performance of the students with a pass percentage of 82 in SSC has placed the Nandyal district on top among other districts of the State.
District Collector Rajakumari Gania said the State government is not differentiating between government and private schools and had decided to encourage students of both the sectors by awarding the best performing students with Shining Stars awards.
Meanwhile in Anantapur district, 184 SSC students and 35 intermediate students were given the Shining Stars awards by Collector Vinod Kumar V.

CPI Thrissur district meet concludes; K.G. Sivanandan new district secretary
A four-day Communist Party of India (CPI) district conference came to a close in Irinjalakuda on Sunday. K.G. Sivanandan has been elected as the new district secretary. The announcement was made by CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam while addressing the elected representatives at the conference. A 57-member district council and 50 representatives to the upcoming CPI State conference were also elected during the meet. Centre-State relations The resolution alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration is deliberately weakening the Centre-State relations and centralising power as part of a larger Sangh Parivar agenda. The discontinuation of the Planning Commission, a body that once played a key advisory role in strategising national development and welfare programmes, was described as a politically motivated move, especially targeted at States where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has little political footing. By replacing the Commission with NITI Aayog and simultaneously denying financial aid to States like Kerala, the Centre is allegedly crippling progressive development models, the party stated. Despite being consistently ranked at the top in indicators like health, education, and social welfare, even in the NITI Aayog's own reports, Kerala is being financially squeezed by the Centre, the resolution claimed. The CPI pointed out that the State has witnessed a shortfall of ₹2,942.29 crore in Central revenue share between 2023 and January 2025 . The 15th Finance Commission's recommendations are being ignored and the ₹12,000 crore annual GST compensation Kerala was entitled to has been discontinued, the conference said. Cultural complex The meet demanded a cultural heritage complex in Thrissur. The resolution pointed out that Thrissur has, for more than half a century, been home to the State's most prestigious official cultural institutions, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, and Lalithakala Akademi, Kerala Kalamandalam and Unnayi Warrier Smaraka Kalanilayam. The district's contribution extends beyond the arts. It is etched into the social and political fabric of modern Kerala through landmark struggles like the Guruvayur Satyagraha, the Kuttan Kulam protest for social justice, the Veloor Manimalarkavu women's liberation movement, the Pariyaram farmers' agitation, and labour movements in Anthikad and Amballur. Thrissur was also the land of action of visionary leaders like E.M.S. Namboodiripad and C. Achutha Menon. In light of this profound cultural, literary, artistic, political, and social heritage, the CPI district conference has urged the Kerala government to establish a comprehensive cultural heritage complex here.

Make RTI Act part of varsity curriculum: Karnataka Information Commission
BENGALURU: The Karnataka Information Commission has recommended several measures to the State Government to strengthen the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, including introducing RTI-related curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The move aims to foster awareness among youth and improve transparency and accountability in government administration. The State Information Commissioner recently met Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and submitted a detailed list of recommendations ahead of a high-level meeting on RTI scheduled for July 14, to be chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta. The Commission has proposed integrating the RTI Act into university curriculum and competitive exams conducted by the KPSC, KEA, and other recruitment bodies. It further recommended that passing RTI-related examinations be made a criterion for promotions and pay reviews in the government sector. The Commission also highlighted the need for RTI training in institutions such as the Administrative Training Institute (Mysuru), District Training Institutes, and the Monetary Policy Institute (Bengaluru).
