In Gurgaon, FIR registered against school owner for breaking MCG seal

Gurgaon: An FIR has been registered against Nirmala Sharma, owner of International Delhi Public School, Basai Enclave, for allegedly tampering with an MCG seal placed due to illegal construction. The corporation had sealed the school on June 18, but subsequent inspections revealed the seal had been damaged. A case was registered against Sharma under section 223(a) of the BNS on Thursday. According to the police, the school operated on residential property. Varun, an MCG official who lodged the complaint, stated that the school authorities received a show cause notice regarding the illegal construction on Feb 19 and were served the sealing orders on March 20. Meanwhile, Sharma said that the seal was mistakenly broken by cleaning staff. She told TOI, "As the school was closed, the cleaning staff returned after a few days, and they did not know that it was a seal placed by MCG officials and removed the same, thinking it was a prank by some student. I was not aware of the same." A report by the district elementary education officer (DEEO), Gurgaon, indicated that the school lacked the required permanent affiliation from the education department and recommended action to the director, elementary education, Haryana, on March 10. Though Tanwar withdrew the court case on April 8, he allegedly filed fresh RTI applications a week later and lodged complaints with various departments, including the income tax, and this time he demanded Rs 5 lakh, involving Maurya. "After he filed an RTI with the education department against my schools, he tried to blackmail me. On Aug 1, 2023, he approached court against my schools and pressured me to give him money. After that, we both met in a park opposite my Sector 10 school, where he sought Rs 10 lakh from me to withdraw the petition. After he forced me for money, I paid him Rs 2.5 lakh advance in the Gurgaon court complex on Dec 5 last year, following which Tanwar withdrew the court case on April 8," Kaushik said. Following the alleged blackmail and monetary demands, Kaushik paid Rs 25,000 to them at his Sector 37 school. Tanwar, however, was captured on CCTV within the school premises accepting the money. Kaushik provided the footage to the Gurgaon police and filed a complaint with the police commissioner, who ordered an immediate investigation. After a probe, Sector 10 police registered a case against Tanwar on June 25 under section 308(2) (extortion) of BNS. Police later arrested both accused in relation to the case.
