English down, Wynd up
Harris English bogeyed the par-four 11th before McIlroy and Fitzpatrick got there, so he's fallen to -9, but Wyndham Clarke is now five-under for the day and into a share of second at -10 as he birdies the par-four 14th following a superb approach to three-feet. He could set a good target in the bid to be best of the rest behind Scottie.

More danger for McIlroy
After driving it into the rough on 11, McIlroy can't find the front right pin and inside sees he ball roll into the bunker nearby. It shouldn't be that troublesome an up-and-down from there, but it's not the something special he needs.
Edit: And it's good! A couple of feet tap-in for par.

Six-shot lead
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER HAS MISSED A BIRDIE PUTT.
This is not a drill, it actually happened.
The leader has nine-feet for the three on the par-four ninth after a stunning approach but this time he can't convert as he under-reads the break and it misses right. But he's still -16 and his lead is up to six shots as Haotong Li, who found trouble off the tee, bogeys to fall to -10.

Too much to 'berg
Ludvig Åberg has played his last seven holes in one-over-par - and has had just one par in that time.
That's largely due to a quadruple-bogey at the par-four 11th where he lost his drive and then had to hit backwards out of the greenside bunker, but around that he's recorded birdies at the ninth, 12th, 13th and 14th, before bogeying 15th.
The funny thing is if he had parred the 11th he would be in a share of sixth at nine-under.

Meanwhile with Scheffler...
His drive on 10 is crushed 320 yards down the fairway and he continues his charge towards the Claret Jug.
Rory duff
The lie over the back of 10 is not a good one for McIlroy and he makes terrible contact with the chip, the ball kicking off the slope in front of him and rolling back down the slope and through the crowd more or less back to his feet.
The second effort is better, but he still has 19-feet just for bogey. His chances are already slim, if he made double and fell back to -8 you feel like that's him definitely out of it.
And he does. It touches the right edge of the hole but stays up. So that's a double-bogey for Rory McIlroy and he's dropped back to -8, which is a share of 10th.

Rebound birdie
Remember the hope that he was coming back to the pack? Well that didn't last long. No surprise as Scheffler converts his short birdie putt to halve the damage of that double with a bouneback birdie. His lead is five once again.

"SIT."
Rory knows he's got a flier out of the rough on the par-four 10th the moment he's hit it and it's gone a long way over the green and down the path towards the tunnel that leads to the 11th, so he's going to have a really tough up-and-down coming up if he wants to save par.
That's why they're in the final group
Li and Scheffler have both hit two absolute crackers into the ninth green. Both are well inside 10 feet for birdie. Li used the slope left of the green to guide his ball down to the pin, which Scheffler just went straight at.
As his ball drops, Sky Sports throws up a phenomenal stat: The last player to card a double bogey in the final round and win? Padraig Harrington in 2007 - that double on 18 before beating Sergio in a play-off.

Getting 'rup-and-down
Really impressive up-and-down from left of the green for Chris Gotterup, who uses the slope beyond the hole to bring it back down to beside the pin and he's able to roll in the six-foot putt for par and stay -11, keeping Scottie Scheffler's lead at four.
Along the course, Wyndham Clark has followed a bogey at the 10th with birdies at the 11th and 12th and he's back to -9 as well.

In trouble off nine
Unfortunately for Rory, I'm talking about Haotong Li rather than Scottie Scheffler, who is in good shape just off the fairway. Li blazes his into the crowd as he continues to struggle to get things going, level par for the day after eight.
Ahead on the 10th, Rory misses the fairway too. It's only a few yards offline but he'll be playing his second with his ball well below his feet from 185-yards on the par four that hasn't been birdied by any of the last 15 players coming through.

'It was a fun three days': Bryson DeChambeau on his Open Championship, finishing -9
"It was fair conditions the past few days. I always told you guys I like it when it's fair conditions. I can play well. I still have to crack the code when it's raining and windy. But I feel like we're getting close to some opportunities and solutions for that. It just takes a long time to develop stuff, I'm starting to learn. It was a fun three days. I was really proud of the way I turned it around and gave myself actually some hope on the third round, after I was three-under. That first nine I thought, okay, if I go shoot four- or five-under on the back and give myself a chance on Sunday, throw myself up there and go out and play just as good as I did, like I did today, I could be right up there and giving Scottie a run. Scottie's in a league of his own right now. I played with him a lot in college and he was not that good, so he's figured out a lot of stuff since then. It's really impressive to see and something we can all learn from for sure."

It's a DOUBLE for Scheffler... but Rory misses chance
And the putt stays up on eight. That moves the world number on back to -15 and cuts his lead over McIlroy to five shots. So Rory's finally made some ground since the start of the day, when his was six shots adrift. You just never know...
However, Rory isn't helping himself with that failure to get up and down on nine. His putt was always too high up the slope and so he makes the turn -2 for the day and at -10 for the tournament. He just hasn't been able to find a putt out there. If he had holed even half of those attempts, this would be well on.

Groans for Rory
The Holywood man has his hands on his knees and shakes his head towards Harry Diamond as he follows up another stunning drive of 352 yards with a wedge from 72 yards to... 22-feet. I appreciate I'm an eight-handicapper saying this but that's just not good enough at the business end of a Major championship.
It still might be a birdie but he's got a lot more work to do than he should.

Hiccup for Scottie...
Audible gasps as the runaway leader hits a bump in the road. He tries to blast out of that fairway bunker on eight but it catches the very top of the lip and drops back down to his feet. He pitches the second attempt out and he'll have to get up and down from 121 yards just to save bogey. IF he fails to do that, Gotterup is all of a sudden within four, Rory within five.
Edit: He's done the first part anyway, and is now within around 10 feet to save bogey and drop to -16.
He's Gott it going
Chris Gotterup is now Scottie Scheffler's biggest rival as he fires a beauty into the par-four ninth to five-feet and converts the putt for his third birdie of the day - and second in three holes - and he gets up to -11, six shots back!
In comparison...
Rory McIlroy can't convert his monster drive on the eighth into a birdie as his approach from 115 yards comes up woefully short, leaving him a 33-footer for birdie that he just rolls by the hole on the left side. That's more on his approach than his putting but it does feel like Rory has made nothing compared to Scottie (because he hasn't).
Matt Fitzpatrick joins the party at -10 as he hits an incredible approach to four-feet and slots in the putt for back-to-back birdies and he's into a share of second as well.
He just won't miss
Scottie Scheffler is only able to chip up to 15-feet with his effort from left of the seventh green, which is a really good effort from where he was... and of course he holes the putt. Right to left across the green, it never even looked like missing and he stays at -17.
Here's the length of the putts Scheffler has holed this round: 1ft (birdie), 1ft (par), 2ft (par), 7ft (birdie), 14ft (birdie), 16ft (par), 15ft (par).
The man is a machine.
There's only three Tommy Fleetwoods?
The masks are out for these three fans, who clearly have a favourite this week at Royal Portrush!
I'm still Harr 2.0
Harris English is really going under the radar here, but he's just posted another birdie on the par-four eighth, converting from 18-feet, and he's up into a share of second at -10.
Up on the ninth, there's a birdie there for Xander Schauffele, too, and he's gone out in 34 to reach -9. Plenty of guys making a move, just nobody closing on Scheffler as of yet.

Step forward Lottie Woad, who capped a fairytale July by winning the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open by three shots at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire. The 21-year-old from Hampshire won the KPMG Women's Irish Open at Carton House as an amateur at the start of the month before finishing second in The Evian Championship, the penultimate women's major of the season, in France. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Lottie Woad poses with the trophy after winning the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open at Dundonald Links |On the back of those eye-catching efforts, the spotlight was on Woad as she made her professional debut on Scottish soil and, boy, did she make the sporting world sit up and take notice. At no point over the course of the four days in the $2 million event did she ever look as though she was flustered, even if her reddened face might sometimes give that impression. The truth of the matter is that Woad is a bit shy and probably feels a bit uncomfortable being the centre of attention, but, on the evidence of the past few weeks, she is going to have to get used to it. In short, she's a superstar in the making. 'Very special to win in my first event,' she said of this success. 'You know, everyone was chasing me today, and I managed to maintain the lead and played really nicely down the stretch and hit a lot of good shots, which is nice.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Two ahead at the start of the day in the LET and LPGA co-sanctioned event, Woad was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Korean Hyo Joo Kim early on the back nine and the pair were still locked together as Woad played the 14th and Kim tackled the 15th. Almost at the same time, Woad rolled in a five-footer for a birdie at her hole while Kim missed from the same distance for a par in the match in front. Event over. Signing for a closing 68, Woad finished with a 21-under-par total, which had also been her winning aggregate in Ireland. Due to her amateur status, she didn't pick up the winner's cheque on that occasion, but this title triumph led to $300,000 being deposited in her bank account. Lottie Woad embraces her caddie Dermot Byrne as she celebrates victory on her professional debut |'I don't even know what the winner's cheque is,' she admitted. 'But, yeah, I mean, a lot of people have obviously talked about me not winning any money. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad But I knew going into this event, at the start, I wasn't going to win any money. Didn't make too much difference. And then I knew if I kept playing how I was, then it would all work out.' She described her exploits in July as 'pretty good' and, on this evidence, August could be tasty, too. It starts with an appearance in the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl and, 12 months after finishing as the leading amateur at St Andrews, it seems as though she'll be a contender for the top prize this time around. 'Yeah. Just looking to continue the momentum, really,' she said of her next assignment, which starts on Thursday. Woad, who underlined her potential when winning the Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2023, is just the third player to win in their first start on the LPGA Tour as a member, joining Jin Young Ko (2018 ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open) and Beverly Hanson (1951 Eastern Open). She also became the ninth player to win in their first professional start in an official LPGA Tour event since 1980 and the first since American Rose Zhang achieved the feat in the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open as a non-LPGA member. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I felt pretty good going down 18 because I knew I had a two-shot lead and just hit an 80-yard lay-up and an 80-yard shot,' said Woad. 'So I felt pretty confident coming down there. It was always nice to finish with a birdie. So just had like a two-footer, which is a nice length, so, yeah, happy.' Rightly so and, in addition to her mum and dad, Rachel and Nick, there to see it were her granny Marian and auntie Sarah. 'They are not Scottish,' she reported. 'They live in Edinburgh. So I'm up here quite a bit.' Her aunty moved to Scotland after marrying a Scot, but Woad was unsure why her granny is up here. 'Maybe Sarah, my aunt, is the favourite child and she wanted to be near her,' she joked. Though five players started out on Sunday still in with a chance, it had turned into a two-horse race at the turn and, though Kim gave it a great go and deserved to end up as the bridesmaid, there was no denying that Woad never looked under any pressure and, moreover, never wobbled at any point. Lottie Woad's grandmother Marian, who lives in Edinburgh, watches the last round at Dundonald Links from a buggy |'Yeah, it might have looked less stressful than maybe it was at times, but I think I only had like three bogeys,' said Woad of her week's work. 'On links golf, it's definitely about bogey avoidance. That was probably the key to winning.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad As was her wedge play, which was stunning from 120 yards in and also around the green, where she opted to take a club with loft on it rather than a putter. 'My wedges have always been a strength, and my approaches in general, I can usually rely on it and control the spin pretty nicely,' she said, smiling. After signing off with a best-of-the-day 65, Spaniard Julia Lopez Ramirez shared third spot with Korean Sei Young Kim on 14 under, with Nelly Korda finishing a further stroke behind in fifth spot.

England going head-to-head with women's highest-paid footballer in Euro 2025 final

England are taking on Spain in the Women's Euro final, with the current European champions and the best in the world facing off for the prestigious trophy England will have to contend with the highest-paid female footballer if they are to retain their Women's Euro trophy this year. The Lionesses are set to do battle with Spain in the final of the tournament, with a chance to create history as the first English side to defend a major international honour successfully. ‌ However, the Spaniards - who defeated England 1-0 to win the World Cup two years ago - stand in their way, and they have a pretty expensive weapon at their disposal. Aitana Bonmati is one of Spain's key players and is the sole reason the world champions are in the final in the first place. ‌ The Barcelona playmaker stunned Germany with a swerving strike in the 113th minute of the semi-final to send her country to their first-ever Euro final last week. ‌ The midfielder - who contracted viral meningitis before the tournament began - has been an extremely important star in the competition. Bonmati has scored and assisted once in five matches to help Spain to within 90 minutes of their ultimate goal. Bonmati is widely report to the highest-paid female footballer right now - and eveidently, for good reason. The Barcelona star is said to pocked a whopping £835,000 weekly wage, which is over a quarter of a million more than her nearest competition. Alexia Putellas, who also plays for Barcelona and Spain, earns the second-most with £584,000 - and England's biggest earner is fifth on the list, with Keira Walsh raking in £382,000 per annum. ‌ Bonmati is a highly decorated footballer, with six Primera Division league titles, three Champions Leagues, seven Copa de la Reina wins and five Supercopa de España triumphs. Individually, the 27-year-old has been named the Best FIFA Women's player on two occasions and has also won the Ballon d'Or Féminin twice, in 2023 and 2024. ‌ The midfielder is also a current world champion and Nations League holder with Spain and hopes to add to her international honours with a European Championship win. However, the Lionesses will be aiming to retain their Euros trophy and may have their own secret weapon. Both Lucy Bronze and the aforementioned Walsh played alongside Bonmati and a host of other Spanish players when they both starred for Barcelona, potentially giving them some insider information about their rivals' dangerwomen. Spain and England have both had to show mettle in the latter stages of the tournmanet, with Sarina Wiegman's team requiring a penalty shootout to get past Sweden in the quarter-final and an injury-time equaliser and extra-time winning penalty in their semi-final win over Italy. Meanwhile, Bonmati herself sent Spain to the final with a strike in extra-time against Germany last week, and may well be the hero once again for her country - although the Lionesses will hope that is not the case.
