Eddie Murphy confirms he will play Inspector Clouseau in next Pink Panther movie, Entertainment News
The Shrek star was first reported to be in talks to take on the iconic character back in 2023, and he has now revealed it's among his upcoming roles.
He told Al Roker on Today: "I'm getting ready to do a [biopic of] George Clinton, [his music collective] Parliament-Funkadelic. I'm getting ready to do George Clinton.
"I've already started Shrek 5. And I'm going to be — I'm Inspector Clouseau in the next Pink Panther."
When asked if Clouseau will still be French, Murphy quipped: "Maybe. Well, he has to be French, but he could also be Haitian. I will tell you, he's Black. He's Black, for sure."
Sources previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the movie is to be a live-action/ CG hybrid.
The original comedy film, The Pink Panther, was released in the US in 1964, and saw the late Peter Sellers play Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
Sellers reprised his role in 1964's A Shot in the Dark as well as The Return of the Pink Panther in 1975, The Pink Panther Strikes Again in 1976, and Revenge of the Pink Panther in 1978.
The Pink Panther told the story of the French police detective as he aimed to catch a jewel thief known as The Phantom, who attempts to steal precious diamond The Pink Panther.
David Niven, Robert Wagner, Claudia Cardinale, and Capucine also appeared in the movie.
A pink, cartoon panther appeared in the animated opening credits and then starred in several Pink Panther cartoons.
In 2006, Shawn Levy directed a Pink Panther movie reboot, which saw Steve Martin play Inspector Clouseau.
Kevin Kline, Emily Mortimer, Kristin Chenoweth and Jean Reno also starred in the film.
Martin, Reno, and Mortimer reprised their roles for the 2009 sequel The Pink Panther 2, in which John Cleese replaced Kline as Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus.

Mark Ruffalo to join Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Entertainment News
Mark Ruffalo will join Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 57-year-old actor will reprise his role of Bruce Banner / The Hulk in the upcoming Sony/Marvel movie sequel, alongside Tom as Spider-Man. Michael Mando will also return to his role of the Scorpion, the villain from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, along with Jon as vigilante the Punisher. Tom, 29, recently revealed how excited he is to return to the Spider Man universe, after Covid-19 restrictions made shooting difficult on the third movie, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. He told Flip Your Wig: "I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of Covid-19. We shot the entire film on stages. Now we're really going to lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations. "We are going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together." Tom added that playing Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego is like "like hanging out with an old pal" and filming the fourth movie is "going to feel like making 'Spider-Man 1 [2017's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming] again". He added: "It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's going to feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we're putting together." Zendaya will also be returning as MJ in Spider-Man 4, along with Jacob Batalon as Peter Parker's best friend Ned. Sadie Sink has joined the cast, but her character has not been revealed. Gary Busey pleads guilty to groping woman at horror film convention, Entertainment News
Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to groping a woman at a New Jersey horror film convention. The 81-year-old actor admitted that he deliberately touched a woman inappropriately while posing with fans as he pleaded guilty to criminal sexual misconduct at a virtual court appearance on Thursday (July 31). The incident occurred at the Monster-Mania Con in August 2022 as Busey was accused of groping several women who filed reports with the police. The Lethal Weapon star was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one count of attempting criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree and one disorderly count of harassment. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will drop the remaining charges against Gary - who faces between one to five years of probation and fines. He has also agreed not to contact the victim. Gary - who appeared distracted during the hearing and was scolded by judge Gwendolyn Blue for drinking from a soda can - will be sentenced on Sept 18. His guilty plea comes after he initially claimed that the women had made up their accusations. Busey told TMZ in 2022: "None of that happened. "There was a partner, a camera lady, and me and two girls. It took less than 10 seconds, and then they left. Then, they made up this story that I assaulted them sexually - but I did not." It is not the first time that the Oscar-nominated actor has fallen foul of the law as he faced drug charges in 1995 after being hospitalised following a near-fatal cocaine overdose. The Point Break star - who suffered permanent brain damage in a 1988 motorcycle accident - has previously been arrested on charges of spousal abuse and was also accused of sexual assault by a female employee when he took part in the Celebrity Apprentice in 2011. [[nid:714983]] Busey's son Luke previously recalled how the motorcycle accident completely changed his father's personality after he underwent brain surgery to recover from his serious injuries. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "At 17, I had to teach him with my mom to talk, to eat, to feed himself. To walk again. To write. That was very difficult for me at that age. The post-accident version of him turned his personality up to 11. I feel like I lost my dad on Dec 4, 1988."

An online personality that has accompanied millions across the globe through hours of study, work and chill sessions has finally finished her homework. Jade, better known as Lofi Girl, the face of the popular French YouTube channel of the same name, announced on X on July 30 that she had finally graduated. In a video animation, Jade is holding up a laptop with the words 'The End' on the screen. Initially in her signature red and green outfit with headphones, she is seen donning a navy-coloured graduation gown and mortarboard once the laptop is shut . 'Finally finished with all my homework. I don't know what I learned, but I know I'm done learning.' she laughs, recreating the dialogue from a a teen sitcom that has become a trend on TikTok. Since its inception in 2015, the YouTube channel has amassed more than 15 million subscribers, racking up more than a billion views through its videos – the most popular of which is the constantly-running 'lofi hip hop radio beats to relax/study to' stream, which features Jade in an animation loop over music. It is unclear what this may mean for the future of the channel. So far, despite her graduation, it seems to be business as usual on the popular stream, with Jade still doing what she has done for the past eight years: Writing in her notebook and occasionally looking out the window as her cat lounges beside her, through a never-ending stream of lo-fi music. Lofi Girl first appeared in her first iteration in November 2017, while the channel was still known as ChilledCow. Although the channel's most famous videos are the 24/7 lo-fi streams, it also features short animation clips. Lo-fi music, according to Forbes , has roots dating back to the 1960s, but is best known today as a 'subgenre of downtempo electronic music containing hip-hop beats with a relaxed aesthetic'. The Lofi Girl channel has cemented its place in pop culture, with myriad of memes inspired by its content. A multitude of similar streams - which include a central animation looping as lo-fi music plays - have spawned on YouTube and other video streaming platforms. Lofi Girl has even found her way into politics. In the 2019 UK general election, the Conservatives YouTube channel released a video featuring then-prime minister Boris Johnson titled 'lo fi boriswave beats to relax/get brexit done to'. Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te in 2023 called for members of the public to submit their lo-fi music for his '2024 Healing Music Submission Project' , describing the subgenre as 'an essential healing companion for modern people'. His channel, called Lofi on Lai, features 'healing, vocal-free versions of the Democratic Progressive Party's presidential campaign songs from 1996 to 2024'.
