Rail passengers face delays from signalling fault
Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of disruption due to a broken down train and a signalling fault.
National Rail said the issue with the signalling system between Wolverhampton and Sandwell and Dudley on Friday morning meant trains were running at slower speeds on all lines.
A spokesperson said lines have since reopened but trains between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street might be delayed for up to 45 minutes, with disruption expected until at least 08:00 BST.
Passengers were urged to check their journeys before travelling, with tickets being accepted on some alternative train and tram routes.
National Rail said a train had also broken down between Wolverhampton and Stafford, with some services running through the stations delayed or diverted.
On X, CrossCountry Trains said "due to the theft of signalling cables," between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, services would not be calling at Wolverhampton until further notice.

Disruption continues following train derailment
Commuters have been warned of disruption for a second day after a train partially left the tracks near Milton Keynes. London Northwestern Railway said no passengers were on board when it derailed in the Bletchley area on Thursday. National Rail said trains between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston could be cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes throughout Friday. "Rail replacement buses have been ordered to run in place of the cancelled services and will be in operation as soon as possible," a company spokesperson said. Two trains per hour are due to operate between Northampton and London Euston via all stations. However, problems with overhead wires in the Northampton area have led to additional cancellations. Specific advice has been given out to passengers travelling on Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern services to avoid the issues as best as possible. Fallen tree on tracks at Portchester halts trains
A fallen tree has halted trains between Cosham and Southampton Central and Eastleigh. The large tree across the railway line near Portchester means all lines are closed with trains unable to run affecting Great Western Railway, Southern and South Western Railway services. National Rail said its staff were working to remove the tree as quickly as they can, however "the tree in question is very large and will take some time to remove". Buses are replacing trains with major disruption expected until about 12:00 BST. Engineering work closes line affecting rail services in York this weekend
A MAIN rail route out of York is closed this weekend. Engineering work is affecting train operating services between Leeds and York via Garforth this weekend (June 21 and June 22). As reported by The Press, Network Rail said five weekends of planned works are taking place as part of the TransPennine Route upgrade.
