Charli XCX tells LIDO Festival crowds Brat Summer is ‘forever'
She worked her way through her hit album Brat, turning the stage into a club with strobe flashing lights, heavy techno beats and a waterfall.
The crowd, a sea of lime green, sunglasses and mobile phones, roared hysterically as ragged green curtains emblazoned with Brat rolled down to the opening song 365 remix, featuring Shygirl.

Dressed in a cropped top resembling cellophane, yellow bra, studded black leather hotpants with XCX in diamantes on the bottom and thigh-high boots, the 32-year-old strutted across the stage and down the runway, twerking to fans and the rolling cameras.
'Where the f*** you at?' she yelled to the crowd, who shouted the lyrics back at her.
She tore down the Brat curtains and walked into the aisle, touching outstretched hands as Von Dutch started playing.
The singer needed no background more than the alternating flashing white, black, blue and red lights as she filled the stage with her presence, club dancing and attitude.
Fog surrounded her as she danced and scowled at the camera, dropping to the floor, headbanging and shaking her body.
As the sun set, she asked: 'You ready?' and yelled with autotune: 'Put your hands up' as Club Classics began, jumping up and down with her hands in the air.
A sudden cameo showed YouTuber and presenter Amelia Dimoldenberg performing a viral TikTok dance to the song Apple, while Charli XCX sipped an Aperol spritz on stage.
She asked: 'Are you getting f***** up tonight?' To which the crowd roared.
She introduced Girl, So Confusing in autotune by saying: 'If you came with your best friend, then this one is for you.
'Especially when sometimes you had a fight and you make up with them and you're in a way better place than before.'
Speed Drive, a song she wrote for the Barbie movie, was introduced as a song 'for my girls who want to drive really really, really fast'.
Charli told fans: 'this was a real pleasure to come here with basically all my favourite artists. I hope you had as much fun as I did. This is not the end though, I promise'.
She teased the audience, asking: 'Is this like a Brat Summer again or should I put a bullet in it?'
During a techno version of Sympathy Is A Knife, she furiously stabbed at her chest and tossing her hair around while crawling on the floor.
After another remix of 365, Bladee and AG Cook came on to help Charli sing.
There was a technical error when she realised they were singing the wrong rendition and she laughed as she went off stage to correct the song, running back on and awkwardly hugging her friends, telling the crowd, 'My bad'.
The trio danced around the stage together, and Charli joyfully told them 'love you'.
She said: 'F*** them other cities' to thunderous cheers from the crowd as Party on U began.
The crowd was delighted to hear Charli sing an older song, Vroom Vroom.

The stage went black and a creaking noise was made before a waterfall started cascading from the sky.
Charli stood under it and raised her arms to sing Blame It On Your Love. She flicked her hair back and dropped to the floor as the camera spun around her.
The final song was Icona Pop's I Don't Care (I Love It).
'This is it', she said, leaving the stage while the screens in her iconic Brat font asked the crowd whether Brat Summer was truly over.
It read: 'But actually I don't think it is.
'So tell me the truth. Will you hate me if I stick around?
'Because I don't know who I am if it's over.
'And so I have decided. I want this to last forever.'
Followed by fireworks, the message signed off: 'It wasn't just a summer thing. It's a forever thing. Please don't let it be over.' .
The singer curated the line-up for the day, inviting her friends and co-creators The Dare, FiFi, Rose Gray, 070 Shake and Gesaffelstein among others for a dance, club-like atmosphere.
The star-studded event saw the likes of actor Harris Dickinson, Lily Allen, Paul Mescal, singer Shygirl, Will Poulter and Lewis Capaldi walking around enjoying the music and beating sun.
Named after Victoria Park's historic Lido Field, the music series was announced last autumn in East London.
Jamie xx, Massive Attack and London Grammar have also headlined across the festival which has been attended by celebrities including Harry Styles and Naomi Campbell.

Massive Attack, Kneecap, Fontaines D.C. and Brian Eno have formed an alliance to protect artists openly supportive of Palestine from censorship and intimidation from the music industry The British band Massive Attack have formed an alliance for artists who are facing intimidation from within the music industry over their support of Palestine and Gaza. The collective known as Ethical Syndicate Palestine (ESP) is supported by Kneecap, Fontaines D.C. and Brian Eno and cites 'organised censorship' of artists who have spoken out about Israel 's military action. The statement shared by Massive Attack and others on Instagram reads: 'The scenes in Gaza have moved beyond description. We write as artists who've chosen to use our public platforms to speak out against the genocide occurring there and the role of the UK government in facilitating it.' In their statement, ESP alleges accounts of organised intimidation: 'We're aware of the scale of aggressive, vexatious campaigns operated by [UK Lawyers for Israel] UKLFI and of multiple individual incidences of intimidation within the music industry itself, designed solely to censor and silence artists from speaking their hearts and minds.' In a statement to The Mirror, Caroline Turner, Director of UKLFI, wrote: "The claims that we have bullied Massive Attack and operated aggressive vexations campaigns are false." She further describes Massive Attack's June 2025 performance at Lido Festival as "divisive and offensive political theatre." In their ESP Instagram posts, Brian Eno, Kneecap and Massive Attack all tagged the activist group Led By Donkeys, which released a film on July 17, 2025 calling for an investigation into UKLFI's charitable wing. Turner says UKLFI responded to Led by Donkeys before they screened their film and contends that their allegations mainly concerned UKLFI Ltd, which is not a charity, rather than UKLFI Charitable Trust. In recent months, UKLFI reported the band Bob Vylan to the police for leading a chant of 'death to the IDF [Israel Defence Forces]' during their Glastonbury set. It also reported the BBC for broadcasting the set and wrote to the Academy of Music Group advising them to cancel Vylan's Radar Festival performance. Mr Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh (aka Mo Chara), a member of the music trio Kneecap, was charged with a terrorism offence in May 2025 after being reported to the police by UKLFI. Mr Ó hAnnaidh will appear at court for the next hearing on August 20, 2025. UKLFI wrote to all the UK venues where Kneecap was due to perform over the summer, to warn them of the risks of allowing them to perform. The musicians of ESP say their goal is to protect other artists, particularly those at early stages of their careers. 'Having withstood these campaigns of attempted censorship, we won't standby & allow other artists – particularly those at earlier stages of their careers or in other positions of professional vulnerability – to be threatened into silence or career cancellation. 'In this spirit, we encourage artists who've been placed in this position, or those who now wish to use their platforms to talk about Palestine, but are concerted about industrial or legal repercussions to contact us,' their statement reads. The syndicate also urges artists to make a stand on demands including immediate unfettered access to Gaza for recognised aid agencies, an end to UK arms sales and licences to Israel, and an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Artists including Paloma Faith, Bob Vylan, Aja Monet, Saul Williams, and AURORA all commented expressions of support on Instagram. Paloma Faith wrote: 'I've been shadow banned for some time!!! Keep going everyone, it's going to eventually change! Hang in there'. The Scottish rock band Garbage have also publicly joined the syndicate. Lily Allen was spotted sporting a diamond ring over the weekend whilst out in London following her apparent split from Stranger Things cast member David Harbour last year Lily Allen, 40, has been spotted wearing a diamond ring months after splitting from her estranged husband David Harbour. She sported the jewellery whilst out in London just a few days ago after fulfilling a childhood dream. Lily, who recently hit out at a 'horrible' ex who questioned her hygiene habits, was seen out in the capital city over the weekend. The podcast host rode a bike through Notting Hill, where she grew up, on Sunday, whilst seemingly out on her own in the community, where she's said to have bought a flat. The singer-songwriter opted to wear a striped shirt underneath a brown cardigan and a pair of jeans. Her outfit, which included dark footwear, was accompanied by a brown bag. Lily was also spotted sporting a band on her ring finger. It appears to be different from the silver band and engagement ring that she wore during her marriage to David, 50. The new jewellery, which isn't believed to be an engagement ring, features a pear-shaped stone on gold bands instead. Lily being spotted out in Notting Hill comes following reports last year that she had bought a property there. Earlier this year, she confirmed on her podcast Miss Me? that she had bought a flat in the area of London where she grew up. On an episode released in March, Lily spoke to her pal Miquita Oliver that the flat is in a social housing building, though assured that it had already been privately owned prior to her buying it.
