This is the, shall we say, imaginative suggestion coming from former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar who outlined his thinking twice this week — first on BBC NI's The View and then in conversation with Rev Karen Sethuraman at the Ireland's Future discussion event as part of Féile. He argues that if Farage were to become UK PM it would 'change the picture in terms of attitudes towards independence in Scotland.'

The heated exchange began when Polumbo called out Navarro for labeling Trump's immigration agenda as a 'reign of terror'. 'I think you're definitely being hyperbolic when you talk about a reign of terror. When the doomsday alarm from Democrats or media critics is always at a ten, it doesn't hit the same,' Polumbo said. Navarro issued a blistering response, saying, 'It might be hyperbolic for you as a white man… It's certainly not hyperbolic for me as a Latino.' Polumbo was offended by her comment and accused Navarro of being racially discriminatory, 'Oh okay, so we're being racist now,' he clapped back. Navarro insisted she was not being racist, but Polumbo disagreed. 'To dismiss my opinion for being a white man, is racist,' he responded. The two continued to bicker, with Navarro asking, 'Being a white man is an insult?' and Polumbo responding, 'When you invoke it to dismiss my opinion, yes.' 'I just want to make a point that, Brad, all she's saying is that her view of the situation is different from yours. I don't think that's an insult,' Philip said. But Polumbo maintained his position that Navarro was being racist, saying, 'She basically said that I'm wrong because I'm a white man.' Philip attempted to wrap the conversation, saying, 'No, no, no… She said I see it differently from you — which is not an insult. And it's also not a racial insult.' A clip of the dramatic back-and-forth has gone viral on X, where many users shared their opinion on the dispute. One user wrote, 'She is a bigot. Why does @CNN and the @TheView allow this behavior. White people should form a class action suit and sue her and these networks!' Another said, 'Being an insufferable, rude woman, makes her opinion invalid.' In April, an argument between Navarro and a black conservative pundit turned so vicious that the network had to abruptly cut to a commercial break. Navarro and Shermichael Singleton got into a shouting match as they discussed the case of undocumented migrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration. The back-and-forth turned quickly ugly after Singleton appeared to mishear something Navarro said and became furious at what he called a comparison between undocumented migrants and African Americans who are the descendants of slaves. 'They are not the same as black people who were brought here against our will!' he shouted. 'They decide to walk their way across the border, there is a big difference!' Phillips then chimed in to tell Singleton, 'I think you actually misheard what she said.' Navarro added: 'You think I would say something like that after advocating for black people my entire life?' But the argument continued to escalate, with Singleton sarcastically replying: 'Great. Congratulations. Last time I checked, I'm black. You're not, okay.' Navarro fought back: 'That's right. I'm Latino and my people are being racially profiled.' 'Do I have to remind you the history of my people? Do you really wanna go there?' an agitated Singleton continued. That's when Phillips cut their shouting match and sent the cameras to commercial break.
