NJ man qualifies for 'Jeopardy!' Tournament of Champions. How long could his streak last?

A New Jersey man's latest win on "Jeopardy!" ensures he will be back for the quiz show's coveted end-of-season tournament later in the year. Scott Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, claimed his fifth consecutive victory July 9 to qualify him for the Season 41 Tournament of Champions. The annual competition is generally reserved for contestants who earn at least five "Jeopardy!" wins, although the show may invite champions with fewer victories if there are not enough five-game winners. The Tournament of Champions tracker shows Riccardi trails only four people — an eight-game champion and a trio of six-game winners — in the number of victories so far this season. However, his total winnings of $144,902 and counting are already the most of any contestant this year, more than $7,000 ahead of the runner-up. Riccardi earned $12,500 in his most recent win, the lowest payout of his five-game run, after playing it safe for the Final Jeopardy clue to ensure he could not be caught. His $12,000 total after both "Jeopardy!" rounds was more than double the $5,400 accumulated by second-place Sarah Mulligan, resulting in a modest $500 wager for his last guess of the episode. With his victory already assured, Riccardi was the only one of the three contestants to respond correctly in Final Jeopardy, in the category "Ancient Builders." The clue: "A 2nd c. inscription in Northern England records that the gods imposed 'the necessity of keeping intact the empire' on this man." The answer: "Who is Hadrian?" Riccardi will look to continue his "Jeopardy!" reign against two new challengers July 10. The dates of the next Tournament of Champions have not yet been announced. You can find them here: Forbes Today's Wordle #1496 Hints And Answer For Thursday, July 24th By Erik Kain TGIF! It's Friday at last and the weekend is just around the riverbend. It's also 2XP Friday, so Competitive Wordlers don't forget to double your points, positive or negative. It's the last Friday of July. Maybe some places celebrate Final Friday instead of First Friday. Next Friday is the 1st of August, so enjoy these last days of July. Now let's solve this Wordle! Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer: Green : The letter is in the word and in the correct spot. : The letter is in the word and in the correct spot. Yellow : The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot. : The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot. Gray: The letter is not in the word at all. Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post. Wordle Bot's Starting Word: SLATE My Starting Word Today: CRANE (191 words remaining) The Hint: Errand boy. The Clue: This Wordle has more consonants than vowels. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . The Answer: Today's Wordle Screenshot: Erik Kain Wordle Analysis Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here . This was a tough one! Even starting with CRANE, Wordle Bot's second favorite opening guess, I took five tries today and I got lucky. HOIST only cut my 191 remaining possible solutions down to 28 and POWER only slashed that number down to 9. I was running low on guesses, but couldn't think of any good words to get rid of more letters. LOVER only cut my total down to 6, and at this point I started to get worried. Fortunately, GOFER did the trick. Yikes. Competitive Wordle Score Today's Wordle Bot Screenshot: Erik Kain Miraculously, the Wordle Bot took six tries today. I don't think I've ever seen Wordle Bot take six tries before. Five a couple times, but six? I don't think so. Good news for me, though! I get -1 point for guessing in five and 1 point for beating the Bot, which leaves me with 0 points. Even doubling 0 for 2XP Friday just equals zero. However, the Bot gets -2 for guessing in six and -1 for losing to me. That's -3 x 2 for 2XP Friday, or -6 total. Even getting o today, I take the lead for the first time since the very beginning of July. Our totals narrow to: Erik: 8 points Wordle Bot: 6 points How To Play Competitive Wordle Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points. If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day. Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative. You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy! Today's Wordle Etymology The word "gofer" comes from the phrase "go for" as in someone who "goes for" things on behalf of others. It originated in American English in the 1950s, especially in office or film settings, to describe a junior employee or assistant sent to fetch items or run errands. The word is unrelated to the animal gopher , though the similar spelling often causes confusion. Woman seen in Coldplay kiss cam video resigns from Astronomer

The woman seen in the now-viral video of a couple attempting to hide after being featured on a giant "kiss cam" screen at a Coldplay concert last week has resigned from her position at Astronomer. Kristin Cabot resigned from the data company, it said in a statement Thursday. The company confirmed Cabot was the woman seen in teh Cabot did not respond to a request for comment. It was not clear what position she held at the company, but an archived version of Astronomer's website lists her as its chief people officer. Cabot was identified by online users as the woman in the viral video. Online users identified both her and Astronomer CEO Andy Byron as being in the video. The company on Saturday said Byron had resigned. Cabot and Byron catapulted to international fame last week after Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, called them out for hiding their faces once they were caught on a kiss camera during a show in Massachusetts, hypothesizing that they were either shy or might have been having an affair. A video of the moment made rounds online and went viral on social media platforms X and TikTok. Internet sleuths almost immediatelyidentified the man and woman in the clip. On Friday, Astronomer, a New York-based data company, said its CEO had been placed on leave and that it was investigating the viral moment. Byron's resignation followed
