Kalki Koechlin says was harassed as a student by big-shot Indian producer at Cannes; recalls casting couch experience in Mumbai: ‘Felt disgust'
Speaking to Zoom, Kalki opened up about facing harassment at Cannes years ago when she was working as a promo girl for a mobile brand at the festival. She revealed that she was a student at that time, studying in London. She said, 'I have been into incidences where I have been in uncomfortable situations. One such incidence wasn't in this industry. It was at Cannes. I was not even an actor, I was a student in London at that time and I had gone to Cannes as a promo girl for Nokia phones. There was an Indian producer, I'm not going to say the name. He knew somebody who knew my mother and they put me in touch with him saying, 'Meet him, he is a big guy.' So, I met him and went to see his screening at Cannes. He then asked me out for dinner in London, and when I asked him about any leads in work at that point, he made it very clear that I have to be with him in order for that to happen. I, obviously, said no, thank you, and that was the end of that.'
Kalki faced harassment again in Mumbai, where a producer directly approached her. Recalling the incident, she said, 'The other time it happened was when I went for an audition here in Mumbai for a film and the producer said, 'Oh you want to do this film, but I need to get to know you because it's a big launch.' He was basically saying the same thing, but I said, 'I'm sorry. I don't want to waste your time or mine.''
Kalki admitted that although she felt rage in those moments, her first instinct as a woman was to leave the vicinity of the producers for her own safety. Sharing her thoughts, she said, 'I have a raging fury inside me. I want to punch that person in the face but like any other woman, I tell myself to keep it in and just get out of the situation, cause it is also out of safety and other reasons. It's kind of disgust, kind of experience.'

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit Begins Filming This September
Last Updated: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit starts filming in September with back-to-back schedules. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially confirmed that his much-anticipated film Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, will begin shooting in September 2025. The announcement came during a recent chat with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments YouTube channel. Sandeep revealed that Spirit will have back-to-back schedules and a non-stop shooting plan once it hits the floors. Spirit made headlines earlier this year when Deepika Padukone exited the project following disagreements over working hours and compensation. Reports suggested that Deepika was advocating for a strict eight-hour workday, a demand that could not be accommodated by the production team. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was roped in to play the female lead opposite Prabhas. According to reports by Rangasthalam, Sandeep has already completed the musical compositions for Spirit in collaboration with composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit is one of the most awaited action dramas in Indian cinema and is expected to hit theatres in 2027. The film reportedly presents Prabhas in a never-seen-before avatar, adding to fans' excitement. Earlier, a source close to the project revealed, 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to shoot for Spirit in a certain way and has requested Prabhas to acquire a lean physique. The idea is to ensure most stunts are performed by Prabhas himself. The Rebel Star is excited about the challenge and is working closely with Sandeep to mold himself into the character." After wrapping up Spirit, Sandeep will begin scripting Animal Park, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. With high expectations riding on Spirit, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what cinematic magic Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas will bring to the screen. Akshay Kumar, the showstopper Talking to the media, Akshay Kumar stated, 'Well, thank you very much. Main Hindi mein bolunga. Aap sabhi logo ka bohot bohot dhanyawad, jitne bhi yahan log aaye, aur media. (Looking at his watch) Kaafi late nahi ho gaya hai?' Many joked that it was way past Akshay's bed time, referring to the actor's disciplined lifestyle. When someone said 'Dilli mein chalta hai sir', Akshay replied, 'Dilli mein chalta hai? Tabhi haal dekh tera.' After this quick banter, Akshay went on to share, 'Actually, after a long time I'm doing this walk, ramp walk. Sharing his experience, Akshay went on to add, 'I have enjoyed each and every bit of it. Specially, maine dekha hai ki kitna hard-work jaata hai ek show karne ke liye, organise karne ke liye aur 25 minute ke andar poora ka poora khatam ho jaata hai. Log itna saj dhaj ke aate hain aur 25 minute ke andar poora show khatam ho jaata hai.
