Mum who tried to smuggle drugs through UK airport for ‘life-changing' £6k is jailed
Chelsea Blanton, 29, was stopped by Border Force officers after touching down in the UK with 28kg of cannabis.
She had flown from Texas to Saudi Arabia to Malaysia before heading to Manchester via Heathrow on May 7.
In her two suitcases, officers found 15 vacuum-sealed packages of the drug, with a wholesale value of £80,000.
American Blanton told Manchester crown court that she had been offered a 'life-changing' amount of cash.
But Judge Tom Gilbart said: 'You took a gamble.

Blanton, of no fixed address, admitted drug smuggling and got 17 months.
She will serve half in jail then could be deported back to the US.

A woman who was witnessing the horror abuse then tried to intervene but Bland turned on her - grabbing her by the scarf and threatening to "knock her jaw off" if she "didn't shut the f*** up". Bland then continued to assault the elderly man and even managed to withdraw £40 from his bank account before cops showed up. She was arrested and answered "no comment" in her interview. "I get abused daily. I lost all of my friends for my relationship. "My friends have told me what she is like and asks for money to buy drugs. "'Her behaviour is the last weeks has become worse. It has affected me to the point I want to give up with life. "I never want to come home due to the mess she has left in my house." The court heard how Bland, who appeared over a video link from HMP New Hall, had previous convictions on her record. She was actually the subject of a suspended sentence for another robbery at the time she committed those she fell to be sentenced for on Friday. Mitigating, Shila Whitehead, said: "What she tells me is she has been in custody since January. "She said she is aware her behaviour towards him was unacceptable and she is willing to accept help "She accepts at the time of committing these offences she was using drugs and was heavily dependant on them."

American citizen killed in the West Bank died from arson by Israeli settlers, his family say
THE US STATE Department has confirmed an American citizen had died this week in the West Bank, with family and Palestinian officials attributing his death to arson by Israeli settlers. The Palestinian Authority and witnesses reported on Thursday that Israeli settlers had set fire to homes and cars in the West Bank village of Silwad, the latest attack in the occupied territory. Khamis Ayyad, 41, died from smoke inhalation due to the fires, the Palestinian health ministry said. Speaking yesterday at a press conference in Chicago, Ayyad's family said he had moved to the West Bank several years ago with his wife and children, but continued to work for an American company. He is at least the second American citizen killed in West Bank settler violence in July, after a 20-year-old man was beaten to death while visiting family in the town of Sinjil.
