The Blue Tigresses, placed in Group B, will compete against Mongolia, Timor Leste, Iraq, and hosts Thailand at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium.
The team will arrive in Thailand on Monday evening and train for a week in Chiang Mai before their opening game. The winner of Group B will secure a spot in the final tournament in Australia in March 2026, which also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027.
The squad completed a six-week camp at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru, where they played two friendly matches against Uzbekistan on May 30 and June 3, losing both games 0-1.
"I was happy with the preparations in Bengaluru. We trained for more than 40 days. The training ground and all the facilities were excellent. As far as the squad is concerned, we have a good mixture of young and senior players.
Unfortunately, we had to let go of forwards like Karishma, Sandhiya and Renu due to injuries. But that's part and parcel of football. And as compared to the Pink Ladies Cup squad, we have more experienced players with us now," said Chettri.

Do you think the Indian women's team will win Group B in the AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers?
Yes, they will win No, they will fall short
During the two preparatory friendlies against Uzbekistan, the Indian coach experimented with various combinations, rotating eight players for the second game and giving five players their debuts.

"We had a clear plan for those two friendlies. We were trying to find the right combination for the qualifiers because we have to play almost four games in 13 days. Rotating players and giving them proper recovery time is important. We created many more chances in the second game as compared to the first, but the conversion was the problem, and that's what we'll work on in the coming days," Chettri explained.
The team will arrive in Chiang Mai a week before their first match against Mongolia to adapt to the humid weather conditions.
They will have a five-day gap before their second game against Timor Leste.

"I'm pleased with the federation for sending us early to Thailand. There is ample time for acclimatisation and recovery. In Bengaluru, the weather has been very pleasant. But Chiang Mai is quite hot and humid at this time of the year. So, this week will help us a lot in our preparation," added Chettri.

India had lost the opening Test at Headingley by five wickets and came into this match at Edgbaston trailing 0-1 in the five-match series. Earlier in the day, Shubman Gill produced a knock for the ages — a majestic 269 that propelled India to a commanding total of 587 in 151 overs. From a shaky 211/5, such a score seemed improbable. But Gill rose to the occasion with a career-best performance that will be remembered for years to come. Tracing Moeen Ali's steps in Birmingham Gill's innings was a mix of grit, composure, and sheer class. He batted for over eight hours, crafting the highest-ever score by an Indian batter in Tests in England and the highest by an Indian Test captain. His knock was laced with 30 fours and three sixes, showcasing his technical precision in attack and defence alike. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now It was a defining effort that not only steadied India's innings but also stamped Gill's authority as a leader in red-ball cricket. His 269 is now the seventh-highest individual score by an Indian in Test history and made him only the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to score a double century in England.

Pakistan Hockey Team Must Play In India And India Should Reciprocate: Ex-Captain Rehan Butt
Describing the sports ministry's decision, which has paved the way for the Pakistan hockey team's participation in two major multi-nation tournaments here, as a "positive step", former Pak captain Rehan Butt said the Indian team should also cross the border in future and play in his country. A source in the Indian sports ministry said on Thursday that Pakistani hockey teams will be allowed to compete in next month's Asia Cup and the subsequent Junior World Cup. While the Asia Cup is scheduled in Rajgir, Bihar from August 27 to September 7, the Junior World Cup will be organised in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10. "I think it is a very positive step. I don't know what our government decides but my personal opinion is that sports should be kept away from politics and the Pakistan hockey team should definitely go and play in India," Butt, who has represented Pakistan in three Olympics and two World Cups, told PTI Bhasha from Pakistan. "Someone should have taken the first step and if the Pakistan team goes to India, then in future India should also cross the border to play here," added the ace forward, who was a member of 2010 Asian Games gold-winning Pakistan team. India and Pakistan have been avoiding bilateral sporting engagements after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks but even multi-lateral face-offs were in doubt after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 tourists were gunned down in April. In May, India retaliated with Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, leading to a tense military showdown. Rehan, known for his play-making and goal-scoring skills, also feels that the two countries playing against each other is very important for the popularity of Asian hockey. "Hockey lovers in the sub-continent love to watch aggressive and artistic hockey of these arch-rivals. The Indian hockey team has won consecutive Olympic bronze medals and has improved immensely in the last 8-10 years. Now, they are aiming to win an Olympic gold. Pakistan hockey is also trying to regain its old glory but for that it is necessary to play in the World Cup and the Olympics," he said. Rehan, who has played a lot of hockey in India, was the architect of Bangalore Lions' title win in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) in 2006. He also captained the Chandigarh team in the unsanctioned World Series Hockey in India. He came to India as part of the Pakistan coaching staff during the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai last year and the 2018 World Cup in Bhubaneswar. "India always felt like a second home to me because it was the same culture, the same language and everything was the same. When we played in Europe, we used to miss home but in India it felt like home. I have always received a lot of love in India and I've enjoyed playing in Punjab," said Rehan.
