Rookie Mouw rallies to win first PGA Tour title in Kentucky
He walked off the 18th with a 10-under par total of 270 but had to wait two hours to see if his three-shot lead would hold up.
"I did all I can out there and played really good golf and left it all out there," Mouw said. "I guess I broke the course record, too, which is cool."
Paul Peterson, the 37-year-old tour rookie who led by one after completion of the weather-disrupted third round on Sunday morning, made it an anxious wait.
Peterson bounced back from two early bogeys with three birdies on the back nine. He pulled within one stroke with a 31-foot birdie at 16 but could get no closer.
"It's tough to come up short," Peterson said. "But I played some good golf this week. I'm proud of what I did."
Having started the round so far back, Mouw said he wasn't thinking too much about his position until a fan informed at the 12th that he was in the lead.
"Knowing you're in the lead on 12 and having seven holes to play and playing very, very good golf coming in is definitely the best round I played," said Mouw, who added his final birdie at the 17th.
Mouw's previous best finish was a tie for sixth at the Puerto Rico Open in March.
The Californian had gained dubious fame in January when he posted an octuple bogey 13 during the second round of the American Express, earning kudos for his ability to laugh at the disaster.
On Sunday, his first win had him fighting back tears.

NBA Sixers forward George undergoes left knee surgery
The 35-year-old American had a successful operation in New York and will begin a rehabilitation program with progress regularly monitored and a re-evaluation prior to the start of training camp in late September. George, a nine-time NBA All-Star, was signed by the Sixers last July after stints with Indiana, Oklahoma City and the Los Angeles Clippers. Philadelphia, which has not gone past the second round of the playoffs since losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2001 NBA Finals, was expected to contend for the crown with George joining star center Joel Embiid and guard Tyrese Maxey on a four-year deal worth $212 million. But the 76ers went 24-58, their worst record since 2015-16, and missed the playoffs. George was nagged by multiple injuries including a knee bone bruise and adductor issues and was benched for the season on March 17 with knee injuries, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 41 games, half a season. Embiid played in only 19 games due to injuries and the star trio with George and Maxey was only on the court together in 15 contests. Over a 15-season NBA career, George has averaged 20.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals a game.

Flag football federation 'hopes' US teams have reserve places at LA Olympics
Trochet, speakFlag football will make its Olympic bow at ting to AFP on Monday on the sidelines of an official visit three years ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics, said the federation was in discussions with the International Olympic committee on the qualifying path for six men's and six women's teams. "We will have the official version of the qualification program by the end of the year," he said. "We are already anticipating a scenario where the world's best might face a first stage of qualification in 2026. "After that, a mix with the best continental teams in 2027 could yeild a second group of qualified teams. We have quite a clear and precise idea of what we will propose." The fledgling Olympic sport -- a non-tackle version of the immensely popular gridioron game -- received a boost when the NFL gave the green light for its players to participate, and Trochet said the federation hoped they would be granted entry to the tournament as hosts. "Our board has made this proposal, and we hope it will be favorably received by those who need to approve our qualification pathway," he said. Trochet said the federation has also been working on flag football's place in the Olympic schedule, saying they had secured a "prime time" slot with a men's final on Friday, July 21, that "links culturally to the tradition of university games on Friday nights. "The women's final will have its own moment on Saturday evening at the heart of an important day, all at the end of the first week of the Games," Trochet added. Elsewhere the federation is focusing on the growth of the sport worldwide. "A few weeks ago, we concluded the first African Championship in Cairo, Egypt," he said. "Throughout the summer we will transition to the European Championships in Paris, the Americas Championship in Panama and then the Asia-Oceania Championships in China in October." Trochet said efforts to bolster the sport in the United States are somewhat different, but along with the NFL the federation is working to support youth flag football, train coaches and train and certify officials. "In the United States, flag football is experiencing phenomenal growth," he said, adding that the federation was working with the NFL to have flag football, long considered a recreational pursuit, recognized as a competitive collegiate sport in the United States. "Our ambition is to move faster than the 10 years usually required for this process," he said.
