Sask. crop report shows rain came too little, too late for some

The RM of Big Stick in Saskatchewan. The province's southwest has suffered from nearly a decade of constant drought conditions. (Gareth Dillistone/CTV News) Parts of Saskatchewan saw some much-needed rain last week, but many areas saw very little to none at all. The government's weekly crop report says showers brought some help to crops still in flower and slowed haying in places. But for more mature crops, the moisture may have come too late to make much of a difference, as dry conditions are still a big concern. Most crops are holding steady in fair to good condition, but things like pests and heat are taking a toll in drier areas.
