The Al-Ittihad team bus was set on fire
Chaos erupted in the derby, which was played behind closed doors, towards the end of the first-half when a group of hooligans broke into the stadium.
Hundreds appeared in the upper tier and began to climb down the stand wielding flares.
They then charged onto the pitch as away side Al-Ittihad's players ran into the changing room or into the terraces in fear.
The referee swiftly made the decision to abandon the match with the score 1-0 to Al-Ittihad.
Violence continued outside the group as their team bus was set on fire.
Members of security that are connected to the government were also targeted by supporters.
The ugly scenes continued late into the night and ammunition was reportedly fired to disperse crowds by the military.
It comes amid huge protests calling for Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to resign.
The uprising began after armed groups clashed in Tripoli over the weekend.
Demonstrators are demanding elections, while accusing Dbeibah of corruption and being to blame for the growing strength of armed groups.
Nationwide protests have turned violent.
Reports claim that at least eight civilians and a police officer have died.
Several Libyan ministers have resigned since the start of the protests.

North Korea ‘offers 30,000 MORE troops' for Putin's meatgrinder war after tyrant Kim Jong-un wept over soldiers' coffins

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NORTH Korea is reportedly planning to send 30,000 more troops to fight alongside the Russians against Ukraine. It comes just a day after tyrant Kim Jong-un wept over the coffins of his soldiers whom he sent to die in Vladimir Putin's meatgrinder war. And a new Ukrainian intelligence assessment says Pyongyang is preparing to dispatch 30,000 more soldiers in the coming months to join the fight with the Russians, CNN reports. According to the intel report, there is a high chance that troops from North Korea will soon enter Russian-occupied Ukraine 'to strengthen the Russian contingent, including during the large-scale offensive operations.' The document adds Russian Ministry of Defence is "capable of providing needed equipment, weapons and ammunition' with the aim of 'further integration to Russian combat units.' Ukrainian intelligence also reported that Russian military aircraft are being modified to carry thousands of military personnel. Last week, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) told a closed-door parliamentary committee meeting that a dispatch of those 6,000 additional military personnel will likely come as early as July or August, North Korea has begun recruiting soldiers to be sent to Russia, according to Lee Seong Kweun, one of the lawmakers who attended the meeting. He told reporters the NIS noted that North Korea's dispatch of combat troops last year came about one month after Shoigu visited North Korea and signed an agreement with Pyongyang officials. In return for North Korea's supply of troops and weapons, Russia is believed to have given North Korea military and economic assistance. South Korea, the US and their allies are concerned that Russia could even transfer sensitive technologies that can enhance North Korea's nuclear program. Watch moment North Korean quadbike troops WIPED OUT as Putin sends waves into meatgrinder to retake Kursk from Ukraine In April, Kim Jong-un confirmed for the first time that North Korean troops were sent to fight alongside the Russians against Ukraine. Pyongyang's state TV and Kim's propaganda machine KCNA reported that North Korean soldiers made an "important contribution" to help the Russians flush out Kyiv's troops from Kursk. It said Kim deployed "sub-units of our armed forces" to Russia as part of a treaty with Moscow. The troops "participated in the operations for liberating the Kursk areas," the report added. North Korea "regards it as an honor to have an alliance with such a powerful state as the Russian Federation," KCNA said. Just two days ago, Kim draped flags over at least six coffins, and could be seen resting his hands on them in reflection. Watching the scenes back, the dictator's eyes shone with emotion. Other members of the audience - which reportedly included North Korean and Russian soldiers - were also visibly moved. Kim hosted a ceremony which remembered the soldiers taken out by Zelensky's brave army - and things got emotional for the tyrant. Thousands of North Koreans stood to attention in the vast auditorium, with Kim in the front row. Images of Kim draping the North Korean flag over soldiers' coffins were broadcast on a giant screen at the front while a huge orchestra played emotional music. Women in long dresses sang passionately and there was even a harp player stationed on the stage. 12 Kim Jong-un teared up as he watched himself laying the North Korean flag over soldiers' coffins Credit: Reuters 12 The coffins are thought to contain the bodies of North Koreans killed while fighting for Russia in Ukraine Credit: X 12 Russia's President Vladimir Putin and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un attend a state reception in Pyongyang Credit: Reuters 12 North Korea's Storm Corps pictured in Moscow Credit: X In January, Ukraine claimed to have captured two North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. They were among the first 11,000 of Kim's troops drafted into Putin's illegal war after the pariah pair sealed a pact to unite against the West. The military card of one of the captured men shows that the Russians gave the North Koreans fake identities with the pretence that they were from a remote region of Siberia. One of the captives was given a false Russian identity of Antonin Ayasovich Arankyn, born 03.10.1998 in the republic of Tuva. His document shows him to be single, with secondary higher education and the profession of a tailor. The ID was issued by the Military Commissariat of the Pyi-Khemsky district, of Tuva, a mountainous Russian republic bordering Mongolia. The other had no documents. The SBU believes the pair are North Koreans after saying that the captive soldiers do not speak Ukrainian, English or Russian. The soldier with the Russian identity said this was issued to him when he was brought to fight in the war. Images have shown a line of dead North Korean troops laid out in the snow moments after they joined the fight on the front lines. Numerous reports have shown a disturbing pattern beginning to emerge of North Korean troops being sent out on suicide missions on behalf of Russia. Footage emerged recently of Kim Jong-un's fighters being sent to jog through snowy no-man's-land and fatally soak up Ukrainian ammo. 12 One of the men was found with documents giving him a fake identity Credit: East2West 12 The Russian-issued false document claimed that the man was from a remote region of Siberia Credit: East2West 12 A captured North Korean soldier said he thought he was sent for training

Ageing Dalai Lama sets up chilling clash with enemy China as he reveals succession plan in defiance of communist regime

The Dalai Lama has said he is open to a successor who isn't a child or a man - breaking a centuries old tradition HOLY WAR Ageing Dalai Lama sets up chilling clash with enemy China as he reveals succession plan in defiance of communist regime Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE Dalai Lama has reignited a long-standing feud with the Chinese government after he confirmed he will appoint his own successor. Xi Jinping's communist regime has warned only they will get the final say over who takes over as the next Buddhist leader. In recent years, speculation had grown that the 14th Dalai Lama currently in power could be the final one. Just four days before his 90th birthday, the head of the religion announced: "I am affirming that the institution will continue." Tibetan tradition holds that the soul of a senior Buddhist monk is reincarnated in the body of a child upon his death. It often takes years to identify the child who is said to be the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. His recorded video message also appeared to take aim at China as he said: "No one else has any such authority to interfere in this matter." The Chinese have tried to muscle their way into conversations around the Dalai Lama across the past few decades. Beijing sees the spiritual leader as a 'separatist' who is seeking independence from Tibet - therefore weakening China's grip on the region. The Chinese army first invaded Tibet to bring them under the control of the Communist Party in 1959. Since then, the 14th Dalai Lama, born Tenzin Gyatso, has been living in exile in Dharamsala, a Himalayan town in Himachal Pradesh in northern India. Dalai Lama explains how to train your mind to tackle destructive emotions in India The Nobel Peace Prize-winning Buddhist leader has traveled the world to advocate for nonviolence and the 'true' autonomy and cultural and religious freedom of Tibetans. Angered by the Dalai Lama's comments, China has been trying to bring elements of the Tibetan religious institution under state control. They also want to absorb the people into one nation around the Communist Party. The Chinese government has reportedly assumed they will select the next Dalai Lama. Beijing insists the next Dalai Lama needs government approval before being declared with the best way of deciding being through a lot-drawing system. But Beijing's hopes appear to have been dashed as the sitting leader gathered senior Tibetan Buddhist monks in Dharamsala today and said his office has the 'sole authority' over the next reincarnation. He said he consulted with the heads of Tibetan Buddhist traditions and other religious leaders to search for and recognize a successor as per the traditions. He has said in the past that his successor would be born in a 'free country', indicating that the next spiritual head could come from Tibetan exiles. How is the Dalai Lama chosen? APPOINTING the Dalai Lama has been a centuries-old tradition upheld by Tibetan buddhists. Believers say the next leader is always reincarnated once the previous one passes away. Senior monks are tasked with discovering who the holy successor is by searching for them far and wide. Many believe the chosen one harbours the soul of his predecessor. The current Dalai Lama, the 14th ever, was identified when he was just two years old. The sitting Dalai Lama has set up the Gaden Phodrang Foundation to help maintain and support all religious duties - including his successor. The group's senior officers, which include his aides, will carry out the procedures of search and recognition in accordance with past tradition, according to his website. The successor has always been a male child from Tibet but in recent years speculation has grown that the future pick could not be male. The Dalai Lama himself has even admitted his successor will not be from Tibet or China due to the growing number of believers living outside of the region. Of the 140,000 Tibetan exiles, half live in India. He has also expressed being open to a successor who isn't a child, or not a man, in a break with centuries of tradition. The Dalai Lama was born Lhamo Dhondup in 1935 to a family of buckwheat and barley farmers in what is now the northwestern Chinese province of Qinghai. At the age of two, he was deemed by a search party to be the 14th reincarnation of Tibet's spiritual and temporal leader after identifying several of his predecessor's possessions. Nine years after he assumed his position, fears grew that the Dalai Lama could be kidnapped by Beijing. A subsequent crackdown by the Chinese army forced him to escape disguised as a common soldier from the palace in Lhasa, where his predecessors had held absolute power. In 2011, he announced he would relinquish his political role, handing over those responsibilities to an elected leader for the Tibetan government-in-exile. Penpa Tsering was appointed as he said today Tibetans from around the world made an earnest request with single-minded devotion that the position of the Dalai Lama should continue for the "benefit of all sentient beings in general and Buddhist in particular." He said in a statement: "In response to this overwhelming supplication, His Holiness has shown infinite compassion and finally agreed to accept our appeal on this special occasion of his 90th birthday." Tsering also warned China not to meddle in the decision-making process of the successor due to it being a unique Tibetan Buddhist tradition. "We strongly condemn the Peoples Republic of China's usage of reincarnation subject for their political gain, and will never accept it," he added. 5 King Charles with the Dalai Lama back in 2012 during a visit to London Credit: AFP

Phil Foden's classy gesture to help boxing pal and childhood fishing rival Niall Brown achieve his ring dream

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PHIL FODEN is helping best pal and childhood fishing rival Niall Brown punch above his weight in the boxing ring. The Manchester City and England superstar grew up with the 27-year-old super-middleweight in Stockport. The 25-year-old left-foot wizard was snapped up by City at just four years old, privately educated by the Abu Dhabi billionaires and currently earns around £225,000. But the working-class lad still prefers maggots to millions, carp over cash and roach over riches. And he has now cast his rod into boxing by sponsoring his mate's training camps and helping him rise from small-hall shows in Eccles, Oldham and Bolton, to a Manchester Arena break-out on July 5. 'We've been friends forever,' Brown told SunSport with genuine affection. 'So he has always seen the sort of dedication I have and, for the last couple of years, he's just been helping me and looking after me, sponsoring me and stuff. 'I massively appreciate it. It's mint that he's in a position to be able to do that for me because he's just a normal lad. 'We played footy, liked going fishing, everything we liked to do back then, we still do now, but it has to be a bit more 'behind-closed-doors''. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS It's clear - and thoroughly decent - to feel that Brown is cautious of speaking about his high-profile pal to a reporter he has never met. But he's ruthless when asked which of the super-talented Stopfordians is the biggest hit with a fish hook, instead of a right hook. Anthony Joshua vows to take heavyweight division 'by storm' in boxing return and reveals reason for YEAR long break 'If I have to be honest,' he grinned. 'It's him. But If I gave it a bit more time, it would be me! But Phil is just fishing crazy, fishing crazy. 'And he gives it everything, like you said, he's not out, falling out of nightclubs. 'If he's doing something, it's probably fishing, which is not detrimental to his sport. 'And, like you said, he's a good lad, he's just a normal lad who happens to have millions of cameras on him.' Foden has been headline news since 2017, when stole the show at the under-17 World Cup, scoring twice in the final against red-hot favourites Spain and running away with the player-of-the-tournament prize. His skyrocketing to mainstream attention and Pep Guardiola's first team appeared to be down to his wand of a left, his versatility in attack and his quiet dedication to his craft. But former Thai-boxer Brown jokes it might have been more to do with a few kicks, elbows and knees he threw around just before his big break. 6 Foden is a Champions League winner with City Credit: Richard Pelham / The Sun 6 The two bond over dinner and fishing Credit: instagram @brown_niall When asked if their sporting worlds and disciplines have ever crossed, Brown revealed: 'I could have taken credit a few years ago actually. 'When he was in the England under-17s that won the World Cup. Because he actually did come down to my old gym and did a bit of training just before they went. 'Since then though he's been down to my Collyhurst and Moston boxing gym, but just to see the kids in the gym and sign some stuff for them.' In a sport built on hype and bragging - and increasingly contaminated by fake friendships and feuds - Brown could boost his own profile and pulling-power on Foden's name. Instead he admits that such commitment to two demanding sports keeps the boys apart much more than they would like. And he still manages a second to express how proud he is of his little pal. 'As we've got older and can drive now, we sometimes go night fishing or out for food. 'But it's rare that we see each other these days, because usually one of us has training or I am on a diet to make weight. 'We both understand it, because we are just both doing our best. And it's great to see how well he is doing for himself.'
