SpaceX rocket to launch GPS satellite from Florida for the Space Force: When is liftoff?
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will potentially launch a GPS satellite for the U.S. Space Force on Friday, May 30.
Though rockets here blast off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, people beyond the Space Coast can sometimes see this phenomenon.
Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover, a rocket launch from Florida's Space Coast could be visible from Jacksonville Beach and Daytona Beach to Vero Beach and West Palm Beach (see videos and photo gallery with this story). When there's a launch window in the middle of the night or very early morning, there's an opportunity for unique photos — the rocket lights up the dark sky and the contrail after makes for a great photo.
Below is more information on rocket launches in Florida and suggestions on where to watch them.

Key Trump Ally Bolsters Missile Defense as Iran Threatens
Saudi Arabia has announced the deployment of its first Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and the operational readiness of its first associated unit, its Defense Ministry said. Saudi Arabia, a key U.S. partner, is strengthening missile defense capabilities amid escalating regional threats, particularly missile attacks from Iran and proxy groups such as the Yemeni Houthis. This step highlights Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 commitment to boosting domestic defense manufacturing, supported by U.S. firms to transfer technology and build regional capabilities. Saudi Arabia has officially activated its first THAAD missile unit, following successful system tests and troop training, the ministry said. Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces commander handed the unit's flag to the commander of the 1st Air Defense Group in a launch ceremony that took place at the Air Defense Forces Institute in Jeddah, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Saudi Arabia began deploying its first THAAD missile system in February, according to an analysis by the open-source intelligence company Janes of footage from a graduation ceremony at the Air Defense Forces Institute. The event marked the graduation of the first Saudi THAAD operators, who completed their training at Fort Bliss, Texas, in November. Arabian International Co. for Steel Structures, a Saudi company in Jeddah, was awarded a subcontract by Lockheed Martin last year to manufacture key THAAD components. In May, Saudi Arabia completed its first domestically produced parts of the missile launcher, Arab News reported. The missile system at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar intercepted ballistic missiles launched from Iran during the June conflict involving the U.S. and Israel, with the latter also benefiting from the THAAD system to intercept incoming ballistic missiles in Iranian retaliatory attacks. Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry wrote on X, in Arabic: "The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces inaugurated the first unit of the THAAD air defense missile system after completing testing, inspection, and operation of its systems, and conducting collective field training for its personnel within the Kingdom." Joseph Rank, the vice president and CEO of Lockheed Martin for Saudi Arabia and Africa, told Arab News in May: "We used to build things here. Now we're actually manufacturing things here. So the big opportunity is manufacturing, co-production, co-development and transfer of technology. This is jobs for Lockheed Martin in the U.S. and jobs for Saudi industry here. A win-win-win." As concerns over renewed military escalation with Iran grow, Gulf states are deepening cooperation with the U.S. and urging diplomatic efforts to avoid a wider regional conflict. 'He's Alienated The Wrong People' — Scott Galloway Blames Musk's Politics For Tesla's Fall From 8th To 95th In U.S. Brand Rankings
"He's alienated the wrong people," marketing professor Scott Galloway said recently, blaming Elon Musk for Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) brand slide. Galloway argued on the "Pivot" podcast that politics, not products, now steer the automaker after a string of rough quarters and mounting protests. Tesla ranked No. 95 in the latest Axios Harris Poll 100, down from No. 8 in 2021, Axios said. The brand stood at No. 42 in 2019 and No. 63 last year, underscoring a steady drift before the latest plunge. Sister companies SpaceX and X also landed at No. 86 and No. 98 respectively — a sign that the reputational chill is hitting all corners of his empire. Don't Miss: Named a TIME Best Invention and Backed by 5,000+ Users, Kara's Air-to-Water Pod Cuts Plastic and Costs — GoSun's Breakthrough Rooftop EV Charger Already Has 2,000+ Units Reserved — Financials mirror the fall. In its Q1 earnings report in April, Tesla said net income slumped 71%, automotive revenue slid 20%, and free cash flow turned positive, reaching $664 million. "Tesla was a great brand," Galloway said. He called the downturn, "one of the greatest brand destruction." He added, "the rivers have reversed, and the tide has turned entirely against them," referring to Musk's political alignment and its impact on Tesla's reputation. Musk steered almost $300 million to President Donald Trump–aligned committees while advising the White House's Department of Government Efficiency, angering early EV adopters who skew liberal. "3/4 of Republicans would never consider buying an EV," Galloway said. "He's cozied up to the people who aren't interested in EVs." Pushback soon spilled onto the streets. A March fire at a Tesla showroom in Rome destroyed 17 cars. Activists organized "Tesla Takedown" rallies in Berlin, Stockholm and San Francisco in April. Tesla's global sustainability lead canceled a Rome conference appearance over security concerns as vandalism cases multiplied. Trending: Invest early in CancerVax's breakthrough tech aiming to disrupt a $231B market. Musk said in May he was returning full time to his companies, posting on X, "Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms." He said his round-the-clock shift would center on X, xAI, Tesla and a May 27 Starship launch. During last month's Qatar Economic Forum, Musk said he would "do a lot less" political spending because "I think I've done enough." He added that he planned to stay Tesla's CEO for at least five years. Investor confidence in Tesla has increasingly hinged on the recent launch of its robotaxi pilot—launched last month in Austin, Texas—and consistent Model Y deliveries. Both developments will be critical indicators for investors. Read Next: Maximize saving for your retirement and cut down on taxes: Image: Shutterstock UNLOCKED: 5 NEW TRADES EVERY WEEK. CoreWeave is the first cloud provider to deploy Nvidia's latest AI chips
Nvidia's Blackwell Ultra chips, the company's next-generation graphics processor for artificial intelligence, have been commercially deployed at CoreWeave, the companies announced on Thursday. CoreWeave has received shipments of Dell-built shipments based around Nvidia's GB300 NVL72 AI systems, Dell said on Thursday. It's the first cloud provider to install systems based around Blackwell Ultra. The Blackwell Ultra is Nvidia's latest chip, expected to ship in volume during the rest of the year. The systems that CoreWeave is installing are liquid-cooled and include 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 Nvidia Grace CPUs. The systems are assembled and tested in the U.S., Dell said. CoreWeave shares rose 6% during trading on Thursday, Dell shares were up about 2% and Nvidia rose less than 2%. The announcement is a milestone for Nvidia. AI developers still clamor for the latest Nvidia chips, which have improvements that make them better for training and deploying models. Nvidia said Blackwell Ultra can produce 50 times more AI content than its predecessor, Blackwell. Investors closely watch how Nvidia manages the transition when it announces new AI chips to see if there are production issues or delays. Nvidia CFO Colette Kress said in May that Blackwell Ultra shipments would start in the current quarter. It's also a win for CoreWeave, a cloud provider that rents access to Nvidia GPUs to other clouds and AI developers. Although CoreWeave is smaller than the cloud services operated by Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, its ability to offer Nvidia's latest chips first give it a way to differentiate itself. CoreWeave historically has a close relationship with Nvidia, which owns a stake in the cloud provider. CoreWeave went public earlier this year, and the stock price has quadrupled since its IPO.
