‘Lupin' Writer Tony Saint Working on Action-Thriller Series ‘King's Ransom' Set in Elite Boarding School (EXCLUSIVE)
The show — based on an original idea by Chris Peppe ('The Flash,' 'Nikita') — is about a hostage taking at the world's most elite Swiss boarding school — but in this school the students aren't just privileged, they stem from families that make up the very foundations of global power. According to the synopsis, the mercenaries holding them hostage 'might be after much more than money.'

'King's Ransom' is being developed and produced by Globalgate Entertainment, Barry Films, Wachafilm, and U.K.-based Anton. Saint has been tapped to write the pilot episode and serve as showrunner.

Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Mueller of Barry Films will executive produce along with Clifford Werber, William Pfeiffer and Paul Presburger of Globalgate Entertainment, Manuela Noble and Mark Sandell of Wachafilm, and Sebastien Raybaud ('Fuze,' 'Greenland: Migration'), Caroline Kusser and Serena Karp of Anton.
'In partnership with Barry Films and Globalgate Entertainment and with Tony Saint as showrunner, King's Ransom is a perfect fit for Anton's mission to deliver high quality, premium entertainment for global audiences, with top notch IP, talent and partners,' said Anton CEO Raybaud.
Last year, Anton secured new financing of more thank $100 million through a group of institutional investors, led by funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, which it said would be pumped into its film and TV output.

"Mr. Robot" follows Elliot Alderson (Malek), a brilliant but troubled cybersecurity engineer in New York City. While working for the megacorporation Allsafe Cybersecurity, he's recruited by an anarchist known as "Mr. Robot" (Christian Slater) to join a society of hacktivists. Their radical mission includes wiping out global consumer debt by encrypting the data of one of the world's largest corporations, which is also Allsafe's biggest client. Caught between his day job as a tech worker and his new secret mission to destroy the very system he serves, Elliot walks a dangerous tightrope. All the while, he also grapples with severe mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and dissociative identity disorder. His fractured sense of reality often fuels his hacking abilities, giving him a unique edge, but at the cost of serious problems in his personal life — many of which he doesn't fully understand or even recognize. The show was a sensation when it first premiered back in 2015. "Mr. Robot" wrapped up in 2019, before the rise of TikTok and transition to AI-powered everything sparked by ChatGPT and the like. Technology has only become further entrenched in our lives since then, likely why viewers are eager to watch Elliot and his fellow hackers turn the very tools of corporate control against their creators. Its message is just as resonant today as it was when season 4 wrapped. I'm far from the only one raving about USA Network's hit show. The first season received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, and Malek won Outstanding Lead Actor for his breakout performance. Every season of "Mr. Robot" earned a 90% critics' score or higher on Rotten Tomatoes, and the series finale is a particular high point with the second-highest rating of the bunch (96%, just shy of the first season's 98%). The Guardian's Richard Vine described "Mr. Robot" as "perfect binge-watch material: turn it on and on again." The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus for season 1 reads: "'Mr. Robot' is a suspenseful cyber-thriller with timely stories and an intriguing, provocative premise." Charlize Theron is choosing to be single, she told ‘Call Her Daddy': That can be ‘a sign of strength,' says relationship expert
Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has had her share of romantic relationships. Among the most famous were her relationships with Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins and actor Sean Penn. But these days, the mother of two is choosing to be single, she recently told Alex Cooper on podcast "Call Her Daddy." For her, building her family was about "being honest with who I am and what I can give right now," she said, adding that she realized she "was not somebody who should be having kids with another person." Here's why Theron chose to be a single mom, and why relationship experts support her decision. For Theron, there were two main motivations. First, Theron's parents had a tumultuous relationship. "There was a lot of alcoholism in my family," she said, "on both sides." And she grew up seeing the repercussions of that painful dynamic and wanted to avoid repeating what she saw at home. Second, it was a recognition of how she functioned in a romantic relationship. "I used to be someone in relationships that would lose herself," she said. She would often attract narcissists, which meant "walking on egg shells, trying to protect ego," she said. And she avoided conflict, preferring to placate to them than to fight. Ultimately, it was about "being very honest with myself and understanding that I did not have the capability of being healthy in a relationship," she said. Sara Nasserzadeh, sexuality and relationship expert and author of "Love by Design: 6 Ingredients to Build a Lifetime of Love," lauds Theron's decision. "I hear a woman choosing alignment," she says. "She is not turning away from love, she is choosing not to recreate cycles that would compromise her ability to live and love truthfully." She also sees Theron's choice as one made by an awareness of her surroundings. Historically, women have relied on men for financial stability, for example. "For many, partnership was a necessity more than a preference," Nasserzadeh says. "Charlize has the clarity, the support, and the resources to choose otherwise, and that is powerful." Psychotherapist and author of "13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don't Do" Amy Morin has seen many women make a similar choice. "Some were moms who didn't want to expose their children to their dating lives," she says, adding that, "others had done a lot of work on themselves but didn't want to practice their new relationship skills while the kids were around." Others, still, simply felt their lives were full. They didn't need the romantic relationship. "Some have experienced backlash as others question if they're truly happy or make jokes that there must be something wrong with them," says Morin. "But choosing to stay single can certainly be a sign of strength, not weakness."

Beyoncé skips '16 Carriages,' flying car again Night 1 in D.C.: Are they permanently cut?
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter delivered another dazzling performance during her first "Cowboy Carter" concert in the Washington, D.C.-area, keeping safety at the forefront by once again cutting a hit song and signature flying car stunt from the show. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her July Fourth show at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland — five miles east of Washington, D.C. The concert marked Beyoncé's first of two shows at the stadium on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She is also set to perform on July 7. During the Fourth of July show, Beyoncé once again skipped her single "16 Carriages" after she faced a technical mishap during her first concert in her hometown of Houston. During the H-Town opener, which took place at NRG stadium on June 28, Beyoncé was forced to pause the show because a technical glitch caused the vehicle to tilt midair. She told everyone to "stop" repeatedly before being safely lowered and landing the car among the audience. There were no injuries. At the following Houston show, Beyoncé cut "16 Carriages" from the set list completely and avoided flying in the air in a car. During Thursday's show, fans wondered if she would bring back the song and the stunt. However, that question was soon answered. One fan wrote, "Yeah she's off that car for the rest of the tour, which means no more 16 Carriages? 😭💔" As fans know, Beyoncé first announced the eighth studio album in February 2024 during a surprise Super Bowl commercial, releasing singles "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages." The tunes quickly gained popularity ahead of the album's full release March 29, 2024. It's unclear if Beyoncé will perform the song in any variation for the rest of the tour. Of course, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26.
