Ex-EPA enforcement chief joins DC law firm

E&E News15-05-2025
David Uhlmann, who led EPA's enforcement arm during the Biden administration, is moving to private law practice, while keeping one foot in academia.
After spending the last 35 years either with the federal government or at the University of Michigan law school, Uhlmann starts Thursday as a partner with Marten Law, based in Washington. Calling Uhlmann a visionary leader, founding partner Bradley Marten in a news release said the firm is 'thrilled' to have him aboard as it expands representation of state and local governments while continuing its corporate practice.
The firm's clients include 'major energy and mining companies, consumer product manufacturers, municipal agencies, and agribusinesses,' according to its website.

In an interview, however, Uhlmann said his practice will focus on 'supporting state and local governments in their efforts to address climate change and to protect communities across America from the harmful effects of PFAS and other emerging contaminants.' It will also include work on behalf of renewable energy companies.
