New Delhi [India], June 13: In a year when lakhs of students appeared for the CBSE Class 10 examinations, Aarav Malhotra has emerged as one of the shining stars, scoring a perfect 500 out of 500. The Noida-based student's incredible feat has made his family and school proud and inspired thousands of aspiring students across the country.
In an exclusive conversation, Aarav opened up about his preparation strategy, the challenges he faced, and the role Oswaal Books played in his journey to perfection.
'I believe consistency and smart study matter more than just long hours. I never followed a fixed number of study hours, but I made sure every hour I studied was distraction-free and meaningful,' says Aarav, who aspires to pursue science in his higher secondary education.
When asked about how he approached different subjects, Aarav explained, 'Each subject needs a different strategy. For Math and Science, I focused more on concept clarity and practicing as many different types of questions as possible. Social Science and English were more about understanding and expressing well.'
Aarav credits a significant part of his success to the right study material. 'I relied heavily on Oswaal Books -- especially their Question Banks and Sample Papers. The way their content is structured makes it easy to revise topics quickly. The mind maps and concept videos in their books were extremely helpful,' he shares.
He also pointed out that practicing from Oswaal's sample papers gave him a real exam-like experience. 'Solving those papers helped me manage time better and understand the CBSE paper pattern more clearly. In fact, many similar questions appeared in the actual exam.'
Despite the pressure, Aarav remained calm and focused, a quality he attributes to support from his parents and teachers. 'They never pressured me for marks but encouraged me to do my best,' he says with a smile.
For future aspirants, Aarav has a simple message: 'Stay consistent, trust the process, and use quality resources like Oswaal Books. They really make a difference.'
As Aarav steps into the next chapter of his academic journey, he remains grounded and focused. His story is a powerful reminder that with the right mindset, guidance, and resources, achieving excellence is well within reach.

LDA begins translocation of old trees for green corridor project

Lucknow: The LDA on Friday begun the process of translocating old trees that are in the way of the proposed green corridor between Hanuman Setu and Kukrail. A total of 166 trees, aged around 12 to 15 years, will be relocated instead of being axed. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The initiative was launched by LDA chairperson and divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob near Hanuman Setu. On the first day, 21 trees were translocated to the Gomti Riverfront. LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said the green corridor project spans 28Km from IIM Road to Kisan Path. As part of this, the embankment is being widened between Hanuman Setu and Nishatganj, and then onwards to Kukrail. "During planning, it was identified that 166 mature trees fall within the construction zone. Instead of cutting them, the LDA's engineering and horticulture teams were directed to prepare a translocation plan. A Delhi-based firm was consulted, and following a detailed site inspection, the transplantation process was initiated," he said. Preparation for the relocation began six days prior, during which a suitable natural environment was recreated at the new site. Soil from around the roots of the original location was blended with the soil at the new site. Earth balls were formed around the roots, and appropriate quantities of insecticides and vermicompost were added. Experts estimate a survival rate of 60 to 80% for the translocated trees. Jacob instructed that the relocated trees be planted not only at the riverfront but also at other LDA project sites. Additionally, she directed that the ghat area near Nadwa College be cleaned and used for future plantation drives.

Delhi University UG admissions: second phase starts next week

Delhi University (DU) will start the second phase of the admission process on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal over the coming week. The university made the announcement on Thursday, a day before the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results were announced. In the first phase, applicants have to register on the portal. In the second phase, candidates can mark their preferences for colleges and programmes on the CSAS dashboard. The first phase of the admission process, which started on June 17, is still under way, said an official, adding that the date for the commencement of the subsequent phase has not been decided yet. The university is offering 71,624 undergraduate seats in 69 colleges and departments. It has earmarked a total of 1,347 seats under the extracurricular activities (ECA) quota, which has been divided into 14 categories — creative writing (English and Hindi), debate (English and Hindi), digital media (photography, film-making, animation), divinity, fine arts (sketching, painting, sculpture), music - vocals (Indian and western), music - instrumental (Indian and western), dance (Indian classical, Indian folk, western, choreography), theatre, quiz, National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, and yoga. 'All prospective applicants are advised to start applying for CSAS Phase-I, if not done so far. Candidates are also advised to start preparing their list of preferred 'Programs and Colleges' in advance,' read the university notification. It advised applicants to monitor the online admission portal for updates and urged them to 'take informed decisions and avoid any mistakes while filling their choices in the CSAS Phase-II as soon as it is launched'. Last year, the admission process was delayed by nearly a month and the academic session began on August 29 due to the late declaration of the CUET results by the National Testing Agency. This year, DU has announced that it plans to start the academic session on August 1. Hence, the second phase is unlikely to last for more than a week. The process During the second phase, which begins every year after the declaration of CUET results, candidates must log in to their dashboard and map subjects by selecting those they studied or those similar to the ones they studied in Class 12. Completing this process allows candidates to view the programmes for which they are eligible. Following this, they can mark their preferred course and college combinations in order of preference on the CSAS portal. This is the most crucial step, say university officials, as the order of preference will determine their chances during the allocation of seats. Before the first round of seat allocation, DU will issue simulated ranks to help students gauge the probability of their allocation to a particular programme, giving them another chance to revise and reorder their preferences. 'Auto-upgrade' option The candidates are then allocated the best possible option based on their preferences, merit, availability of seats, and category. Once the seat is allocated, the candidate will have to accept the allocation in order to be considered for upgradation in the subsequent rounds.
