The bronze medals in the women's competition were shared between Belinda Weddell and June Scheepers from Jeffreys Bay Bowling Club, and Jill van Rensburg and Jessica Carter, representing Westview Bowling Club.
On the men's side, spectators were treated to a nail-biting finish.
After a tightly contested match, the final went into a dramatic sudden-death extra end, where Wihan Visser and Wouter Minnie of Despatch Bowling Club narrowly edged out Kevin Oates and Travis Paulson from Westview to clinch the title.
This marks the second consecutive year that Wouter Minnie has lifted the trophy, though with a different partner this time.
The teams of Lourens van der Walt and John Hayes from Middelburg Bowling Club, and TJ McLean and Stephen Pittaway representing Albany Bowling Club, won bronze medals.
The weekend's finals highlighted not only high-level skill but also the growing depth of talent in Eastern Province bowls. — EP Bowls

Kolbe shines through storm to power Boks to dominant win

Barbarians coach Robbie Deans is an admirer of Kolbe's work. 'I always enjoy watching Cheslin. Even when you're playing against him. He's just so positive. You can see his positivity into contact and in the air. He is just a freakish footballer.' Kolbe, 31, showed that his desire to make an impression in the Bok jersey remains undiminished. To be fair, that attitude permeated the Boks ranks with several players putting shoulder to the wheel in the kind of match often dismissed for its frivolity. After a two-year absence lock Lood de Jager made an impressive return to the Bok fold. He tirelessly toiled for 70 minutes before being withdrawn from the action. Jean-Luc du Preez, another Bok absentee in the last few seasons, also showed his worth in the No.8 jersey. He however left the field injured just before the break. Flank Vincent Tshituka went through a huge workload and would have been well satisfied with his effort. Like Kolbe, Kurt-Lee Arendse also sparked when opportunity presented. It was the need to impress before the two-Test series against Italy that drove the Boks. In the second half in particular they played with greater hunger and urgency, displaying also the willingness to go the extra mile. Centre Andre Esterhuizen certainly fell into that category when he was deployed as a loose forward when he came on as a second-half substitute.

Proteas dominate in Bulawayo despite heroic hundred from Williams

South Africa maintained a significant advantage despite Sean Williams' sixth century in the opening Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Sunday. The Proteas will start day three on 49/1, a lead of 216 runs, after they bowled out Zimbabwe for 251, halfway through the final session. Williams, 38, scored 137, to hold the Zimbabwean innings together, while the rest of his teammates struggled against a South African attack for whom debutant Codi Yusuf and all-rounder Wiaan Mulder were the stand out performers. Mulder finished with 4/50 while Yusuf, who took his maiden Test wicket with his fifth ball, ended with figures of 3/42 in 14 overs. The Proteas declared their first innings overnight on 418/9, a total that didn't seem likely when they slumped to 23/3 in the first hour of day one. But centuries from Lhuan-dre Pretorius, also making his debut, and Corbin Bosch, who finished with 100 not out, gave stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj the chance to allow his bowlers to make use of the pitch in chilly conditions on Sunday morning. Yusuf did superbly, inducing a false shot from Takudzwa Kaitano, to pick up his first wicket in the first over. His second followed shortly afterwards, when Nick Welch swung wildly at a wide delivery that was edged to wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne. Kwena Maphaka who struggled with his rhythm through three different spells, inflicted further damage, when a bouncer struck Brian Bennett flush on the front of the helmet. The aggressive opener had hit four fours and was on 19, but was forced to retire and was later withdrawn from the Test match because of concussion. He was replaced by Prince Masvaure. Williams led Zimbabwe's best period of the match thereafter, punishing the short ball and also using his feet to upset Maharaj's lengths.

EP got it right in Potch, says Coetzee

'It was important for us to get the win away from home and also at altitude, which makes it even more special. 'It was really a satisfying showing from the team after we started slowly and then got into our stride. 'We showed our ability to score tries and we got four before halftime, which was very pleasing. 'EP are still creating too many soft moments in the game where we don't control the chaos, but we are creating a bit of it. 'That was why the Leopards came back in the second half. 'But, having said that, I am really pleased with the showing away from home and we are still on track to achieve our goals. 'EP wanted to be much better in terms of execution and accuracy. 'There were a lot of turnovers and unforced errors that we conceded. 'We talked about taking ownership during the week and players know where they stand. 'They had to look at themselves after the defeat against the Griffons. 'It was a big step up and EP pitched up in Potchefstroom 'I am really pleased with our defence because we held them to three tries and we scored six. 'That shows our improved performance in terms of physicality and us dominating the set piece.'
