EAGLE nabs 3 interstate drug peddlers, 3.25 kg opium worth Rs 17 lakh seized
Police arrested Savlaram Bishnoi (43), Hapuram Bishnoi (38) and Lalaram Bishnoi (41) all native of Jalore District, Rajasthan. They were earning about Rs 4 lakh over every 1 kg of Afeem.
According to the police, Telangana has a huge enterprising and bubbling diaspora from Rajasthan. Since the last few years drug smugglers are targeting this community and its youth by supplying them Opium and Amphetamine-based drugs. 45 days back Eagle received a very small lead that one consumer received Opioid drug delivery. The Eagle technical team worked hard for 45 days to develop this lead into an actionable intelligence. The prime accused Savlaram and his brother Gangaram came to Hyderabad for livelihood during the year 2008-2009 and learnt steel railing work. He has the habit of consuming Afeem for the past 20 years. As there is demand for Afeem among the Rajasthani people who are staying in Hyderabad, and selling of Afeem is profitable, he and his brother have been selling Afeem in Hyderabad for the past 10 years.
In this process, during the year 2019 his brother Gangaram was arrested by Bowenpally Police while he was in possession of 3.4 kg of Afeem. As the surveillance of Police increased over Gangaram, he shifted to his native place and assisted Savlaram in procuring Afeem from the suppliers in Rajasthan and transporting the same to Hyderabad.
Hapuram is a close relative of Savlaram and he promised of giving commission, to assist him in drug business and Lalaram he has been assisting Savlaram in transporting drugs to Hyderabad and also storing drugs in his house at Adilabad. About one month back Savlaram handed over 3.25 kg of Afeem drug to Lalaram. On Thursday, Savlaram contacted Lalaram and instructed him to get the above drug to Hyderabad. When Savlaram, Hapuram and Lalaram were waiting in Bowenpally area for selling the drug to their peddlers/customers, the EAGLE team apprehended them along with the drug.

Women villagers on outskirts of Bengaluru seek police help over liquor shop menace
Villagers of Rajaghatta, especially women, raised concerns over what they called rampant sale of liquor, and claimed that it is destroying families by pushing their husbands into addiction and joblessness. They sought police help to contain the menace. The issue was brought up during the SC/ST grievance meet organised by the Bengaluru district police along with 'Mane Manege Police' (door-to-door police service) on Sunday. Lakshmamma, one of the villagers, who spoke on behalf of other women in the locality, told Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba that the liquor shops in the area open at 6 a.m., and operate till midnight or beyond . 'This is posing a threat to the families, as the men get drunk early in the morning and do not go to work. Most of the families face a difficult situation due to the alcohol menace and it is pushing them into penury. Even grocery and vegetable shops have started stocking up liquor, making them accessible round the clock,' she said. Mr. Baba summoned the excise department officials to ensure that the liquor shops should adhere to the time specified in the licensing condition. The department and the jurisdictional police have also been asked to conduct regular checks on the illegal sale of liquor at the shops. Meanwhile, a few students present at the meeting complained of being humiliated at schools as they were ridiculed by their friends and classmates for their caste. 'We were mocked and called casteist names. The teachers and village elders are not doing anything despite being aware of this situation,' a student told senior police officers. Taking strong objection, Mr. Baba asked the Panchayat Development officer, and officials of the education department present at the meeting to take immediate action and ensure such practices are not repeated. The police later visited Dalit colonies and pasted stickers containing the names and numbers of police officers to be contacted in any eventuality with the intention of instilling confidence among the general public that the police are at their service. Mr. Baba, along with other officials also had lunch with the villagers. The villagers were urged to help the police force in fighting crime and maintaining law and order.

Fertility scam busted: 8 held in baby-selling scam in Hyderabad; clinic run by mother-son duo
Representative image NEW DELHI: An illegal surrogacy and baby-selling racket operating out of a fertility clinic in Hyderabad was busted Sunday, leading to the arrest of eight individuals, including the clinic's owner and fertility specialist, Dr A Namratha. A detailed investigation revealed that Namratha, 64, was running a large-scale scam through clinics located in Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Kondapur. She allegedly collected between Rs 20–30 lakh from each client under false pretenses, police said. Police further disclosed that Namratha's son, an advocate by profession, managed the clinic's financial operations from the same premises. He also reportedly intimidated clients who raised objections. Authorities, as cited by PTI, added that over 10 previous cases had been registered against the accused at various police stations across Andhra Pradesh. Despite the medical and health department cancelling the clinic's registration earlier, it continued operations using the name of another certified doctor on official documents. The clinic at Gopalapuram in Hyderabad was sealed with assistance from the medical department. The racket resurfaced after a couple, who believed their child was born through surrogacy, discovered through a DNA test that the baby was not biologically theirs. Alarmed, the couple approached the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone–Hyderabad) S Rashmi Perumal told PTI that Dr Namratha, along with her associates and agents, targeted vulnerable women—particularly those seeking abortions—and persuaded them to continue their pregnancies in exchange for money or other inducements. These newborns were then passed off as surrogate babies, misleading clients into believing they were their biological children. According to the police, the victim couple had approached Namratha's clinic in August 2024 for fertility and IVF consultation. After initial tests, they were advised to opt for surrogacy. They were then referred to the clinic's Visakhapatnam branch for specimen collection and were told the clinic would arrange a surrogate and handle the embryo transplant. Over the course of nine months, the couple made several payments totaling more than Rs 35 lakh. In June 2025, they were informed that a baby boy had been delivered via C-section in Visakhapatnam. The child was handed over to them along with documentation falsely listing them as the biological parents. "The baby was not shown as a child born to a surrogate, which drew their suspicion. Later, the couple went in for DNA test which revealed that the child's DNA did not match theirs," said Rashmi. When the couple sought clarification from the clinic, they were denied documentation and threatened, prompting them to file a police complaint. In the current case, police traced the baby's biological parents, originally from Assam and residing in Hyderabad, through agents. They had reportedly been paid a small amount after giving up the child. Both were arrested on charges of baby selling, and the infant has been handed over to 'Shishu Vihar' as per protocol. Dismissing certain media reports, Rashmi clarified, "It is a case wherein the victim couple were told that they were going in for surrogacy, but in reality the baby was sold by the original parents and that the baby was shown to this complainant couple (by the accused) as their child. But when they did the DNA test it was revealed as not matching with theirs." She also refuted claims that the child had cancer or that donor sperm had been used, reported PTI. The investigation remains underway, and additional legal action is being taken.

12 interstate theft accused held
1 2 3 4 Ranchi: A total of 12 accused wanted in two cases have been arrested on Saturday, Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said on Sunday. Nine were accused of robbing Namkum-based electricity department's central store on July 15. Another three members of a Durgapur-based gang were planning to steal from a power grid centre at Ormanjhi, he added. Police said that in the first case, 11 armed miscreants had broken into the Namkum-based electricity department's central store on July 15 and taken the employees captive before decamping with copper clips, conductors, and plate angles worth around Rs 16 lakh. The SSP said, "A case was registered and a special investigation team (SIT) led by DSP Amar Kumar Pandey formed to solve the case. Based on a tip-off and technical inputs, nine accused were arrested from different areas of the district. An auto rickshaw, a machine to cut wire, and the stolen materials were seized from the arrested." Furkan sold the materials to Jitendra for Rs 4 lakh. Raids are under way to nab the others involved in the case, police added. Dinesh is an accused in five cases lodged with Patratu and Khalari police stations. SSP Sinha said, "In another operation, police on Saturday received a tip-off that a group was conducting surveillance around the power grid at Ormanjhi." A team arrested Jai Prakash Paswan, Dinesh Choudhary, and Bhola Choudhary, all natives of Durgapur in West Bengal, from near Chetanbadi village. A country-made pistol, two cartridges, a four-wheeler, a wire cutter and eatables were confiscated from them, the SSP added.
