Historic depot bustles again with 19 buses in service
During the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, Nakrekal constituency Congress candidate Vemula Veeresham promised to revive the depot and bring back its past glory. Staying true to his word, now as the elected MLA, he collaborated with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and succeeded in adopting the Narketpally depot under a special initiative.
So far, three new buses have been added to the fleet, bringing the total number of buses operating from the depot to 19. In the previous year alone, 15 buses generated a revenue of Rs 40 lakhs. New routes have been started from Narketpally to Hyderabad and Amanabole, and plans are underway to further expand services to Nakrekal, Chityal, and Ramannapet mandals.
The depot holds historical and emotional significance for locals. It was the first to be established in the united Nalgonda district and served crucial routes such as Hyderabad-Vijayawada and Addanki.
Over the years, however, previous administrations allegedly attempted to benefit from the land and assets of the depot, planning to lease it out and redirect its services elsewhere. These attempts were strongly opposed by the public and thwarted by leaders like then MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who vowed to protect the depot from privatization.
Locals are overjoyed by the revival. They believe that with better services to Yadagirigutta and Hyderabad, the depot can return to profitability. They are also urging for the reinstatement of Palle Velugu buses connecting the 29 panchayats in Narketpally mandal, enabling students, elderly citizens, and daily commuters to access nearby towns with ease.
Citizens now look forward to full-scale development of the bus stand, and hope that the combined efforts of Veeresham and Ponnam will lead the Narketpally bus depot into a new era of service and significance.

Second unit of Telangana's Yadadri thermal power plant inaugurated
Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka , along with three state ministers, on Friday inaugurated the 800 MW Unit 1 of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station . With this, two units of the 4,000 MW (5x800 MW) power plant have been commissioned. The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also the Energy Minister, along with ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Adluri Lakshman, inaugurated the unit near Damaracherla in Nalgonda district. They also laid the foundation stone for an integrated township in Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS). The township is being constructed at a cost of ₹970 crore on 55 acres. Unit 2 of the plant was commissioned in December 2024. Being constructed by the Telangana Power Generation Corporation (TGGENCO), it is billed as the biggest thermal plant in the public sector. The ministers announced that the third unit of 800 MW would be commissioned by October, followed by the fourth unit in December. Vikramarka said the entire project would be dedicated to the nation in January 2026. He said that due to the negligence of the previous government, there was a delay of two years in the completion of the project. The Deputy CM said the BRS government delayed the process of seeking environmental clearance , and as a result, the project's cost escalated significantly. He claimed that within two months after the Congress came to power, environmental clearance was obtained. He said monthly and weekly targets were fixed for the works, and as a result of these efforts, two units of 1,600 MW have been commissioned. The Deputy CM said those who gave their lands for the power project would be paid compensation by August 15. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress government would provide employment to all families who lost their lands for the Yadadri and Pulichintala power projects. Job appointment orders would be issued by August 15, reaffirming the government's commitment to fulfilling its promises on humanitarian grounds, he said. The minister said that the Congress government believed in working with compassion and sensitivity, especially towards those affected by large-scale development projects. The displaced families of both Yadadri Thermal Power Plant and Pulichintala Power Project would be employed in the same plants, honouring the assurance given to them. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that providing long-term housing and facilities to workers is a commendable step. He praised Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka for playing a crucial role in reviving the long-stalled thermal project. He ensured the completion of public hearings and secured long-pending environmental clearances, paving the way for the project's restart. It was his leadership, initiative, and dynamism that brought this project back to life and helped us begin 1,600 MW of power generation, the minister said.

The farm laws - comprising three separate legislations that would have deregulated the government-run wholesale markets - were introduced in 2020 but withdrawn after over a year due to massive protests by farmers. This was after Arun Jaitley died, pointed out his son, Rohan Jaitley. The BJP, too, snubbed Mr Gandhi's claims as "fake news". Rahul Gandhi accuses EC of rigging 2024 polls, says poll system is 'dead'
Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi has made serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI), claiming that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were rigged and that the country's electoral system is 'already dead'. He was speaking at a legal conclave on Saturday in Delhi, where he strongly criticised the ECI, claiming that the current Prime Minister is in power with only a 'thin majority'. During the event themed "Constitutional Challenges: Perspectives and Pathways", Gandhi said, 'The truth is that the election system in India is already dead. Please remember one thing that the prime minister of India enjoys a very slim majority. If 10-15 seats were rigged, and we suspect the actual figures to be closer to 70-80 to 100, he would not have been the prime minister of the country.' He added that the Congress party has collected proof of fake voting in a Karnataka Assembly seat. 'We checked photographs and names of electors and found that out of 650,000 voters, 150,000 votes were fake," he said. He claimed the evidence will soon be made public: 'You will see the shockwave that is going to go through the electoral system when we release this data. It is literally like an atom bomb.' Gandhi said the Congress will soon present irrefutable proof showing how the 2024 election was manipulated. 'In the coming few days, we are going to prove to you without any doubt how a Lok Sabha election can be rigged, and it was rigged,' he alleged. 'Constitutional institutions have been taken over' The Congress MP accused the ECI of failing in its duty to protect democracy. 'I have said 'vote chori' is happening and now we have open and shut proof that the Election Commission is involved in 'vote chori'.' He stressed that these are not baseless claims. 'I am not saying this lightly. I am saying this with 100 per cent proof. As soon as we release it, the whole country would know that ECI is indulging in 'vote chori'. It is doing it for the BJP.' He further added that the party conducted a six-month investigation into the election process after raising doubts during the Madhya Pradesh polls and the Maharashtra results. He also alleged the ECI did not cooperate, prompting Congress to dig deeper. 'What we have found is an atom bomb. When it explodes, the EC would have no place to hide in the country," Gandhi said.
