Ford inspires England to Argentina win on 100th cap
Ford, 32, kicked 15 points and assisted one of England's four tries as Steve Borthwick's side claimed victory before next Saturday's second and final Test of the series.

The hosts trailed 22-0 after 50 minutes before crossing twice in a disappointing performance after beating the British and Irish Lions in their last game.
Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi made seven changes from July 20's win over the Lions as No 8 Facundo Isa started the game in his first international appearance since October 2023.
England boss Borthwick was without 13 first-choice players away with the Lions, including captain Maro Itoje, as centre Seb Atkinson and winger Will Muir made their international debuts.
Ford ran out on his own in front of a packed crowd at a hostile Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi before kick-off as he became the eighth male player to reach the century of England Test appearances, having made his debut in 2014.

Contepomi's Pumas controlled an ill-disciplined opening quarter from England as flanker Alex Coles was shown a yellow card but they failed to make the most of their dominance.
Ford opened the scoring after 21 minutes with Coles off the field by slotting the seventh drop goal of his England career, three of them coming against Los Pumas in the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool stage.
Atkinson followed Coles to the bin but Ford's clinical effort was the only points of the first half.
Ford's influence on the encounter was illustrated even further as he played a crucial part to set-up full-back Freddie Steward with a vintage pass from the stand-off, sandwiched between two efforts from winger Tom Roebuck.

The hosts' attempted comeback was kicked off by flanker Pablo Matera crossing on his 110th cap after 52 minutes before lock Pedro Rubiolo also strolled over as they cut the deficit to 10 points.
Their hopes of victory were then dashed as Ford added two further penalties and winger Cadan Murley sneaked over in the final quarter as England won a third straight game over Argentina, a run which started with Ford's three drop goals two years ago.

Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is still going strong at the age of 40 and will lead out Fluminense against the Blues in Tuesday's Club World Cup semi-final (Paul ELLIS) Chelsea's young side are targeting a place in the final of the Club World Cup when they take on Fluminense in the last four on Tuesday, with the Brazilian team marshalled by former Blues defender Thiago Silva who is still going strong at the age of 40. Silva was already a veteran when he signed for Chelsea in 2020 before going on to have an impressive four-year stint at Stamford Bridge. He played 155 games for the London club and left 12 months ago after helping oversee the development of some of the young talents now featuring regularly under Enzo Maresca. "He's a legend of football, a top player," Marc Cucurella, a teammate of Silva's for two years, told English media, adding that the two had exchanged messages about their impending reunion. "We have the opportunity to play against him again and hopefully we can do good things, win this game and play in the final." Advertisement Silva initially made his name at Fluminense, featuring in the team that reached the Copa Libertadores final in 2008 before losing to LDU Quito of Ecuador. He returned there upon leaving Chelsea, once again pulling on the green, red and white of the Rio de Janeiro outfit who won the Copa Libertadores in 2023. The evergreen Brazil international was then reunited earlier this year with Renato Gaucho, the coach in 2008 who is now in his sixth spell in charge. An impressive run at the Club World Cup has seen Fluminense hold Borussia Dortmund in the group stage, eliminate Inter Milan in the last 16 and get the better of Saudi powerhouse Al Hilal in the quarter-finals. "We know the financial size of these teams, the difference is enormous, absurd. "I have watched some games that they have played and you can see that they are very well organised. They have some very good players. 'Kick in the teeth' - Carlisle United probe leaked kit images

Images of the 2025/26 home and away strips were widely shared on social media before the Blues' official launches. And chief executive Nigel Clibbens has now confirmed that Carlisle are looking seriously at the situation, which he described as 'a real kick in the teeth' for the club and its retail team. Numerous fans saw pictures of the home and away designs in advance of the launches, with the home shirt being a blue, red and white striped homage to 1994/95's 'deckchair' away kit, and the new away shirt a black, green, white and grey number. Australian media reaction to Fiji performance
Australia had the opportunity on Sunday to ignite interest in the Lions series had they played well and beaten Fiji handsomely. That didn't happen and there is now fear that the pre-Tour predictions of a Lions 3-0 series sweep could come to fruition. Advertisement That's despite the Lions ropey win over the Waratahs. The Australian newspaper ran a damning editorial with the headline, 'They beat Fiji, but the Wallabies are on track for a train wreck.' The article goes on the say, 'Australian rugby is spiralling out of control towards another trainwreck that the code may struggle to recover from. Already heavy underdogs to overcome the combined forces of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Australia's lucky 21-18 win over Fiji at Newcastle on Sunday was an embarrassment that has now guaranteed the Lions will start at shorter odds to win the three-match series.' Advertisement The daily newspaper did offer one caveat. 'The only hope is if the Aussies are foxing and trying to pull off rugby's version of the rope-a-dope when Muhammad Ali let George Foreman pummel him until he exhausted himself. 'If only that was the case because the brutal reality is that with less than two weeks before the first Test in Brisbane on July 19, the Wallabies appear clueless and are running out of time to mount a serious challenge to the Lions.' Rugby Union already plays second fiddle to rugby league in this part of the world and to other sports like Aussie Rules. This once in twelve years series is hugely important to Rugby Australia from a financial point of view and for keeping the sport in the shop window and at the forefront of Aussie sports fans minds. For all these reasons the Australian side need to show up and challenge the Lions. The Aussie media has their doubts.
