Iraqi, Saudi Defense Ministers discuss regional stability
Iraq's Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the two ministers reviewed the "brotherly ties" between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and explored avenues to strengthen cooperation in military and defense sectors.

Iraq's Development Road project to boost Turkey's economy
Baghdad ( – The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said Iraq's massive project to construct a 1,200-kilometer railway and a parallel freeway from southern Iraq to Turkey's northern border could pump $50 billion into the Turkish economy. During a worldwide transportation conference held in the Turkish city of Istanbul over the weekend, Erdogan said that Iraq's Development Road may provide over 63,000 job opportunities in Turkey. The Turkish president indicated that Iraq's $17 billion project represents the greatest rail system in the Middle East and an important milestone for regional economic integration. Erdogan defined the project as a massive infrastructure project aiming at connecting Iraq to Europe through Turkey, and he stated that it will spur substantial rail growth in Turkey. The Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, revealed in November that Turkey will invest $19.9 billion to build railways and roads connected to Iraq's Development Road project. In remarks made to the Anadolu Agency, Oraloglu said that the project's current and planned railway investments will contribute to strengthening regional collaboration. As part of the Development Road project, a 2,094-kilometer railway line will be built in Turkey, according to Oraloglu. The Turkish minister mentioned that Turkey will invest $17.9 billion to construct 1,655 kilometers of railway lines that will connect to 439 kilometers of existing railway lines. Oraloglu explained that out of the 1,924 kilometers of land roads included in the project inside Turkey, the Turkish government will invest $2 billion in the construction of 331 kilometers of highways. Iraq, Turkey, the UAE, and Qatar signed last April a quadripartite agreement on Iraq's Development Road project, aiming to enhance cooperation on Iraq's strategic project. The four countries will develop the necessary frameworks to carry out the project. The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Razzaq Al-Saadawi, revealed recently that Turkey formed a council involving Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia to arrange the connection of Europe with Iraq's Development Road. In addition to the railway and road network, the project will also feature pipelines for the transportation of energy. As a regional route for the transportation of goods and energy, the project will also serve as a center for global trade.

Expert expects Iran-Israel conflict to resume: New weapons on horizon
Shafaq News – Tehran The conflict between Iran and Israel is not over despite the current pause in hostilities, the Iranian affairs expert Mohammad Ali al-Hakim said on Wednesday, warning that Tehran may deploy new types of weapons if fighting resumes. Speaking to Shafaq News, al-Hakim explained that Israel initially believed it could dismantle the Iranian regime within five or six days, 'But after Iran absorbed the shock, and responded with unexpected strikes, the assumptions were turned upside down,' he noted. He also revealed that before the US strike on Iran's Fordow nuclear facility, Tehran had received warnings through a third-party state. According to al-Hakim, Iran removed all 60%-enriched uranium from the Fordow nuclear facility, relocating it to an undisclosed location. He added that following a parliamentary vote supporting withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), 'it is not unlikely that Iran may take a final decision to exit the agreement.' Al-Hakim argued that the war remains unresolved, as Israel failed to achieve its strategic goals. 'Judging by statements from both US and Israeli officials, another round appears likely,' he expected. Concluded that if a new round of conflict breaks out, Iran's response would be 'different and unprecedented,' al-Hakim suggested the use of new types of missiles and weaponry. He claimed that during the previous exchange, Iran had used only 20% of its missile capabilities. On June 13, Israel launched the 'Rising Lion' operation targeting key Iranian military and nuclear sites, in which senior Iranian commanders and scientists were killed. Iran responded with a large, continuous ballistic missile strike on Israeli military bases in an operation named 'True Promise 3,' hitting dozens of sites. The United States became directly involved in the conflict on June 22, conducting airstrikes mainly against Iran's Fordow nuclear facility, after which Iran targeted the US Al Udeid base in Qatar. Shortly, a ceasefire was announced by US President Donald Trump on June 24, ending 12 days of escalation.

Iraqi Speaker meets Turkish FM; Confirms Water Deal

The Iraqi Speaker of Parliament Dr Mahmoud al-Mashhadani met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara on Wednesday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and joint initiatives. Dr al-Mashhadani called for deeper cooperation between the two nations, proposing the activation of parliamentary friendship committees and requesting Turkey to ease residency procedures for Iraqis, including renewal processes and protection from arbitrary deportation. The two sides also reviewed progress on the proposed "Development Road" project, which is expected to boost economic ties, trade connectivity, and regional integration by facilitating a low-cost trade corridor from Asia to Europe. Dr al-Mashhadani also thanked Turkey for increasing water releases into the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and urged continued cooperation on water issues. Later the same day, Dr al-Mashhadani received a phone call from Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, who confirmed additional water flows-reaching 420 cubic metres per second-as agreed with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an earlier meeting. Dr al-Mashhadani expressed gratitude to both Turkish leaders, describing Turkey as a vital neighbour and affirming Iraq's readiness to deepen cooperation on mutual interests.
