I don't want to play a 50-year-old: Gaurav M Sharma on exiting Jhanak
Gaurav M Sharma joined Jhanak just a month ago, but his role has ended owing to the time leap that the show has just taken. While he is understandably disappointed, he is clear that he doesn't want to play an older character.
'Jhanak has taken a 20- year leap and I wouldn't want to play a 50-year-old guy. I quit Anupamaa earlier for the same reason,'
he says.
The actor shares that he has consistently tried to avoid being typecast, yet he's often offered grey or negative characters. He says, 'After I played the antagonist in Diya Aur Baati Hum, makers thought of me for similar roles. I wanted to break that stereotype and hence took a break. After a short hiatus, I acted in OTT shows, but later realised how TV is a mass medium and lucrative.
Today, I am glad that I am offered different kinds of roles.
'
He adds, 'I'm not limiting myself to just TV. I want to do more OTT and films, but TV is a great mass medium, and it helps me survive.'
Currently, the show has taken a leap and
Arjit Taneja
and
Riya Sharma
are playing the lead roles. The current track focusses on how Jhanak's daughter is now 18 years old and they both live in the same village. In Kolkata, Arshi's daughter has grown up and she works as a teacher in college. Arjit Taneja plays a police inspector and he is posted in the same village where Jhanak lives with her daughter.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Rules TRP Chart Amid Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta's Exit Rumours
Last Updated: TMKOC is followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, whereas Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa has slipped to the third spot on the TRP list this week. For the second week in a row, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has managed to top the TRP chart. Reportedly, the current track has managed to impress the audience and therefore, for the second consecutive week, TMKOC is in the first spot of the TRP chart. It is followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, whereas Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa has slipped to the third spot this week. On the fourth spot is Kanwar Dhillon and Neha Harsora starrer Udne Ki Aasha. It is followed by Laughter Chefs 2, which is now heading for its season finale. Interestingly, this comes days after rumours of Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta's exit from TMKOC made headlines. It all started after fans noticed that Jethalal and Babita Ji had been missing from the 'Bhootni' plot for a long time. All the members of the Gokuldham society were on vacation in a haunted bungalow. While other characters like Bapu ji, Popatlal, Sodhi and others joined Taarak Mehta and Anjali on this vacation, Jethalal and Babita Ji were missing in action. This left everyone wondering if Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta were planning to quit the show. However, the show's maker, Asit Kumarr Modi, later issued a statement and clarified that Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta were still a part of his popular sitcom. 'As you know, social media these days has become so negative that you should try to keep a positive mindset. And Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a completely positive show. It's a family show that spreads happiness. So some people should think positively about it. It's not right to spread rumours over small things or say anything inappropriate. That's not a good thing," he told Money Control. Explaining why the two actors have been absent from the recent episodes, Asit added, 'Lekin kuch nahi hai, sab log hamari team ka part hai. Kuch unke personal reasons the to us time nahi the. To aise koi baat nahi hai." (But there's nothing like that, everyone is part of our team. They were not present at that time due to some personal reasons. So, there's no such issue.) First Published:
