Maalik Box Office Collection Day 10: Rajkummar Rao's Film Nears Rs 25 Crore-Mark
Maalik, the action drama starring Rajkummar Rao, has been struggling at the box office to gain traction since its release. This is due to the competition from films such as Superman and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and the latest release this week, Saiyaara. As per the latest numbers, the film could not earn a crore on any day in its second week which started on July 18. The total collection stands at Rs 23.45 crore so far.
According To Sacnilk, the second week began with a mere Rs. 65 lakh collection on Friday, which increased to Rs. 75 lakh on Saturday. On Sunday, the film grossed Rs. 85 lakh. With this, the net India collection for Maalik after 10 days stands at Rs. 23.45 crore and is expected to cross the 25-crore mark this week.
Maalik also stars Manushi Chillar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anshumaan Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, Saurabh Sachdeva and Saurabh Shukla in key parts. Speaking about the underwhelming performance of the film, Manushi Chillar said, 'With a movie like this? No, not really. Because as an actor, your job is to deliver the best, to be the character in the best possible way. One has to realise that many, many things create a blockbuster, and it's not just the quality of the film. And honestly, it is timing. Also, Maalik is not a family-friendly film. Maalik is A-rated. That automatically cuts down the audience."
Maalik tells the story of Deepak, a farmer's son who rises to prominence as a gangster in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in the 1980s. The film follows his transformation from a humble man to a feared figure, motivated by ambition and personal grief, as well as his involvement in the sociopolitical scene of the period. Directed by Pulkit, the film marks his first theatrical release. Kumar Taurani produces the film under the Tips Films label alongside Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films.

Archana Puran Singh comes out in support of nepotism: 'Bollywood people prefer to work with actors from film families'
Archana Puran Singh recently weighed in on the ongoing nepotism debate, sharing her perspective from personal experience. In a candid conversation with Ajay Devgn on her YouTube channel, she reflected on why filmmakers often place such high value on stardom when casting star kids. Professional habits often begin at home According to her, individuals who grow up in film families typically absorb a sense of discipline and professionalism from an early age. She suggested that this early exposure is valuable for their understanding of the expectations of this industry-whether it is punctuality, behavior on set, or, more importantly, understanding the hierarchy of a film crew. Ajay seemed to agree but added that children from the film industry often learn to keep a stronger line of delineation between acting as a craft and being a star. He meant to say that outsiders sometimes confuse talent with fame without understanding the journey required to hone one's skill. 2025: A year filled with debutante buzz The conversation coincided with a spate of star kid launches in 2025. Junaid Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Ahaan Panday all announced their arrival in the sparkling limelight. Ahaan was especially mentioned in the audience while saying 'Saiyaara', his film, which was a sleeper hit, had won much praise for emotional depth and presence. While the new entrants get mixed reaction online, the whole ruckus has completely blurred the fact that the public is always curious about industry legacies.
