How to watch the USWNT vs. Ireland on Sunday, their second friendly this week
Rose Lavelle is back on the pitch, and she now gets to show out for her home city. The USWNT plays the second of its two friendlies with the Republic of Ireland on Sunday afternoon. Even with changes coming to the lineup, the Americans should be in good form on the heels of Thursday's 4-0 result. Avery Patterson scored her first international goal with a brilliant header, assisted by Lavelle in the 18th minute. Mainstay scorer Sam Coffey made it 2-0 off her left foot, and Lavelle found the back of the net in style early into the second half. Agreeable vibes all around. Then, this: brb watching this Alyssa Thompson goal on repeat #USWNT x @VW — U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (@USWNT) June 27, 2025 This was some video game work from Alyssa Thompson in the 63rd. She looked like she was playing FC25 against a beleaguered child or a sleepy kitten. Lilly Reale was credited with the assist in her first USWNT cap. The Americans almost scored a fifth goal at the end of the match, when 19-year-old call-up Olivia Moultrie launched a fearless shot from long distance and hit the crossbar. Advertisement The four goal scorers represent four different NWSL teams (Patterson for the Houston Dash, Coffey for the Portland Thorns, Lavelle for Gotham FC and Thompson for Angel City FC). Claudia Dickey notched a shutout on the other end, though she didn't face a single shot on target. Ireland has just one goal in 16 meetings with the United States. More than 18,000 fans were in attendance at the Colorado friendly, and Sunday's second leg should be just as crowded for Lavelle's homecoming. 2015: 'Abby Wambach scored twice as the United States defeated Ireland, 3-0, on Sunday in an exhibition match in preparation for the Women's World Cup. A goal by defender Julie Johnston extended her scoring streak to three straight matches. It was the fifth straight shutout for the Americans, and it was Hope Solo's 83rd in her career with the United States. Wambach added to her career scoring record of 180 goals. Sunday's match was her 44th with multiple goals.' 2003: 'Julie Foudy had a goal and two assists, and Abby Wambach scored her first two goals of the season to lead the United States to a 5-0 victory over Ireland last night in an exhibition match in Salt Lake City. Mia Hamm, who came in as a substitute in the second half, also scored for the United States, which will have three more tuneups before the World Cup this fall. Heather O'Reilly also scored.' Tyrone 'kept going' in Dublin win - O'Rourke
Tyrone boss Malachy O'Rourke praised the attitude of his players in their 0-23 to 0-16 All-Ireland quarter-final win against Dublin. In a tight and tense affair, the Red Hands' substitutes made the difference with the likes of Ruairi Canavan and Eoin McElholm scoring late to help them pull away from the Dubs. Advertisement And O'Rourke was pleased that his side kept going until the end as they booked their place in a first All-Ireland semi-final since 2021 and secured a first championship win over Dublin since 2008. "Delighted for them all to get over the line and get through. It wasn't a brilliant game to watch, but you have to acknowledge you're up against a quality opposition and you're not going to have it all your own way," he told BBC Sport NI. "I'm delighted with the way the boys dug, defended really well and scored some good scores." O'Rourke said the conditions made the game even harder but that he was happy with the contributions of the whole squad, particularly in the second half. Advertisement "In the first half we were a bit disappointed with how we played and the two- pointers kept us in it and we went in a point ahead. "We felt there was more in us, we gave the ball away cheaply with unforced errors and Dublin putting us under pressure. We wanted to turn the table second half and play with more urgency and more pressure on them, and we achieved that fairly well, "he added. "It was tit for tat, we made a few wrong choices, and our execution shots weren't as good as what they could have been, but the boys kept going as we knew they would, they were hungry to win the game and we finished really strongly."

USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back
USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. USC continues to hold the top spot in the national recruiting rankings. One Big Ten rival, however, added a four-star power back who was on the Trojans' radar early on the trail. Advertisement Amari Latimer chose Wisconsin in shutting down his college football recruiting process Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Latimer held a litany of scholarship offers. Including the Trojans, who offered back on Feb. 6. Ironically, Latimer's offer came before USC skyrocketed to the top of the rankings with an aggressive February blitz. The native of Tyrone, Georgia pulled in approximately 50 scholarship offers. The Sandy Creek High star reeled in one other Californian offer, but from Atlantic Coast Conference representative Cal. So how did Wisconsin win over the power back compared to USC, Cal, Big Ten champion Oregon and the long list of power conference suitors for him? His father explained it to Evan Flood of 247Sports. Sep 7, 2024; Los Angeles, California, USA; USC Trojans running back Woody Marks (4) runs the ball against Utah State Aggies linebacker Clyde Washington (42) during the second quarter at United Airlines Field at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Jonathan Hui-Imagn ImagesJonathan Hui-Imagn Images "Their relationship is one that Amari sees as almost like a big brother, an authoritative type big brother," said Giimere Sr. "Amari values their conversations." Advertisement He's verbal commit No. 15 for Luke Fickell and the Badgers coaching staff. The Badgers even offered him before USC and Lincoln Riley made their pursuit -- as Wisconsin got on Latimer during the summer of 2023. Latimer became drawn to the pipeline of backs who have strolled through Madison. Names like Jonathan Taylor and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne come to mind. He's also going to join his older brother Geimere Latimer on the roster, as the cornerback came via the transfer portal. But now USC has a future 220-pound locomotive to game plan for in Big Ten play. The Trojans visit Camp Randall in the 2026 season.
