Anusha Dandekar is back on screen in Hunter Season 2, and as usual, she's bringing fire, flair, and fearlessness. The multi-talented star has worn many hats over the years, from MTV VJ to fashion influencer, singer to host. She sat down for an exclusive candid chat with News18 Showsha where she opened up about navigating the entertainment industry as a 'multi-hyphenate," being stereotyped because of her accent, and refusing to be boxed in. Excerpts from the conversation:
You're a woman of many talents — VJ, actor, host, fitness enthusiast, fashion influencer. But do you ever feel stuck under this 'multi-hyphenate" label? Like, people can't take you seriously in just one lane?
That's actually a really good question. There are always pros and cons to being seen as someone who does many things, but I honestly don't view it as a negative. If anything, I see it as a gift because I get to wake up every day and do something I love, and I never get bored.
So the variety energises you?
Absolutely! I'm the kind of person who wouldn't survive a 9-to-5. I'm too hyper for that! I need change, I crave it. One day I'm doing a photoshoot or shooting an ad. The next day, I'm hosting my own show. Then I'm acting in a Hindi web series with Sonia Shetty and Jackie Shroff. The next day, it's a Marathi film. Then it's an awards function or maybe I'm hosting that too! It keeps life exciting.

But in an industry that loves boxes, how do you deal with being typecast?
You break the box. Or at least try to. I've been doing that since the beginning, and it's still a battle — it never really ends. I do get typecast, and then there's the whole accent thing. People still think I'm faking it. I mean, seriously — how can someone fake an accent for this long? I don't think I'm that talented! (laughs)
And yet you use that perception to your advantage?
Exactly. You have to. Stereotypes exist so break them, but also learn how to flip them and make them work for you. That's what I'm doing. That's what I'll keep doing.
