Homebuyers of 16 stalled housing projects by Supertech have written to Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking their intervention to hand over these projects to state-owned NBCC instead of NCR-based Apex Group.The homebuyers called for vacating a stay imposed by the top court on a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) order in December 2024, directing that all these projects be entrusted to NBCC (India) Ltd for time-bound completion.The stay was based on a proposal Apex Group submitted to the Supreme Court to revive the projects.'After enduring over a decade of financial loss, mental trauma, and shattered dreams, we now face the imminent threat of being handed over once again to a private entity — Apex Heights Pvt Ltd — whose proposal and compliance affidavit submitted to the SC is fundamentally flawed, financially unviable, ethically questionable, and devastating for homebuyers,' they said in the letter.The 16 stuck projects of Supertech comprise 50,962 homes, of which 39,870 are sold and 11,092 remain unsold. Of the sold homes, 24,871 have been handed over to buyers, while 14,999 are yet to be delivered.An investment of Rs 1,700 crore is required to complete the sold homes, while receivables from these units are estimated at Rs 2,200 crore.'NBCC has delivered large-scale, complex stalled housing projects such as Amrapali. It has the technical expertise, government backing, operational credibility, and most importantly — the trust of homebuyers,' said Mujeebur Rahman, a homebuyer.The buyers have also demanded the disqualification of Apex from the resolution process and the complete removal of Supertech promoters from it.'We have requested the Supreme Court that no further interlocutory applications (IA) be entertained at this advanced stage of the proceedings. It has already been 15 long years, and more than 50,000 homebuyers are still waiting for their homes, having suffered immense financial and mental distress,' Rahman said.Homebuyers have alleged that Supertech is attempting to block NBCC's onboarding by pushing the Apex proposal.Supertech, however, said once the Supreme Court approves the resolution plan submitted by Apex Heights, it will pave the way for all stakeholders to complete the 16 projects, with deliveries to homebuyers starting within three months and being completed in the next 24 months, in addition to repayment to financial institutions and land authorities as agreed in the plan.'Since the de-linking of the Doon Square Project in reverse insolvency, the handover of units has been done by Ametek, the codeveloper in the project, well before the time stipulated. NCLAT had directed delivery in 12 months, whereas 100% handover of units to homebuyers has been successfully completed in nine months,' Supertech said in a statement.Apex Group has agreed to clear Rs 678 crore of dues to five banks and around Rs 1,900 crore to Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna authorities. In the initial phase, the company has committed to invest Rs 500 crore, with plans to deliver the flats within two years of taking over.

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday said every patriotic Indian has sought answers on China since the 2020 Galwan incident but the Modi government has chosen to obfuscate and hide the truth with its policy of 'DDLJ -- deny, distract, lie, and justify'. The opposition party also alleged that the Modi government is responsible for the biggest territorial setback India has faced since 1962, and accused it of pursuing 'normalisation' with a hostile China because of its cowardice and misplaced economic priorities. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said ever since 20 brave soldiers were martyred in Galwan on June 15, 2020, every patriotic Indian has sought answers. In a post on X, Ramesh went on to ask a series of questions. 'Why did the Prime Minister give a clean chit to China saying 'Na koi hamari seema mein ghus aaya hai, na hi koi ghusa hua hai' on 19 June 2020, only four days after our soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives for the country in Galwan?' Ramesh said. 'Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has said: 'We want to go back to the status quo of April 2020'. Does the withdrawal agreement of 21 October, 2024, take us back to the status quo?' he said. Are Indian patrols not required to take Chinese concurrence to access their Patrolling Points in Depsang, Demchok, and Chumar, whereas earlier they were able to freely exercise India's territorial rights, Ramesh added. Are Indian patrols not prevented from accessing their Patrolling Points in Galwan, Hot Spring, and Pangong Tso by 'buffer zones' that lie predominantly within the Indian claim line, he further asked. 'Was it not widely reported in 2020 that 1,000 sq km of eastern Ladakh had come under Chinese control, including 900 sq km in Depsang? Did the SP of Leh not submit a paper at the annual Director General of Police Conference in which he stated that India had lost access to 26 out of 65 Patrolling Points in eastern Ladakh?' AI disruptions will be brief as reskilling drives new jobs: IT Min
New Delhi/ Bengaluru Disruptionsfrom Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be brief and new jobs will emerge, Karnataka's IT and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge has said, highlighting the state's large-scale reskilling initiatives are underway to prepare talent for new-age technologies. In an interview with PTI, Kharge asserted that Karnataka retains a comfortable lead over others in technology, with strong data and performance vectors backing its position. The state encourages innovation and collaboration, ensuring 'that any entrepreneur or corporation who dreams of making it big globally, starts from Karnataka', he noted. On the issue of disruptions due to AI, the minister said, Nipuna Karnataka, the state's large-scale reskilling and upskilling initiative, aims at safeguarding and future-proofing its talent pool. 'While there might be certain job losses, new jobs will be that is why we need a massive reskilling and upskilling programme. So, there will be disruption, but the disruption will be for a brief while, until we are able to reskill and upskill people,' he said. Nipuna Karnataka is a Rs 300 crore reskilling initiative, industry-driven and industry-focused, with ambitious targets to train talent at scale, he added. In the coming financial year, the state government aims to skill individuals in key areas, like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and other technologies, in line with the global tech demands. 'We intend to scale over 5,00,000 people in the coming financial year, in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and anything that the industry might need. So, we are closely talking to them through our skill council for emerging technologies, taking their feedback, taking their curriculum, and seeing how we can ensure that we give the most affordable and most talented human resources for them. 'And this programme is just not catering to the local ecosystem, we are catering to the global ecosystem also,' Kharge noted. He said Karnataka retains its lead over others, and data ranging from IT exports to startups and GCCs play, underscores its competitive strengths. 'We are far ahead of the curve when it comes to our neighbours or neighbouring states. So, while we love competition, we are not afraid of it. It also helps us pull up our socks,' he said. As many as 20,000 startups are registered with the state government, he said, adding that of 110 unicorns, more than 45 are from Bengaluru. 'We contribute 21 per cent of the national bioeconomy, and 65 per cent of defence electronics manufacturing happens in Karnataka. And GCCs, we have close to over 800 GCCs and their units, totalling about 1,500,' Kharge said. The same trend is evident in office space demand, real estate leasing, and GCC momentum. 'Last year, we gobbled up close to around 47 per cent of the entire country's real estate for GCCs. This year, just in the last six months, 13.1 million square feet has been given only for GCCs. So, where is the competition? I don't see that,' Kharge said. The minister emphasised that the state's policies are backed by strong, actionable outcomes like the recent Quantum Roadmap. 'We are just not announcing mere policies for the sake of announcing them. So, when we keep the Karnataka quantum roadmap in front, people believe is because over the years, we have managed to build a strong foundation of skills. 'We have topped that with incubators, and we have topped up with centres of excellence across sectors. So, I run more than 25 centres of excellence from agritech to space tech. And through these, we are innovating and inventing. On top of that, we have put budgets. On top of that, we put policies,' Kharge said.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh released from jail again, this time on a 40-day parole
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, currently serving a 20-year jail term for raping two of his disciples, was granted a 40-day parole by the Haryana Government and released from the Sunaria prison in Rohtak Tuesday morning. Singh left the Sunaria prison early morning, and will stay at his Dera's headquarters in Sirsa during the period of his release. He was released on a 21-day furlough in April last time. In January, he was released on a 30-day parole a week before the Delhi Assembly elections, and stayed at the Dera's headquarters in Sirsa. In earlier instances, when he was out of jail, he remained at the Dera's ashram in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat. Paroles and furloughs given to him have often coincided with the elections in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi or Rajasthan. Several constituencies of these states, especially Haryana, are said to have a sizeable number of the Dera's followers. In August 2017, a Panchkula court found Singh guilty on two counts of rape and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. The court also ordered him to pay a fine of Rs. 15 lakh to each victim.
