A 20,000-square-foot tech wonderland is opening in Times Square this week
Opening Tuesday, July 29, in the historic Candler Building (yes, the one that once housed the 24-hour McDonald's), tm:rw is a 20,000-square-foot, three-level immersive tech emporium that's part theme park, part concept store and all-out sensory overload. Think: a Formula 1 show car, the world's largest retail hologram and a cotton candy robot, all under one LED-bathed roof.
Dubbed 'the store of tomorrow,' tm:rw is the brainchild of Smartech Retail Group co-founders Nathalie Bernce and Jacov Nachtailer, who cut their teeth transforming innovation retail across Selfridges, KaDeWe and Rinascente. But this is their first standalone concept—and it's a full-throttle leap into the future.
Designed by Harry Nuriev of Crosby Studios (yes, that Balenciaga collaborator), the space is sleek, sculptural and full of surprises. 'If Bergdorf had a baby with Brookstone but raised it in a Disney utopia, that's kind of what we've built,' Jordan Traxler, global head of marketing, told Time Out New York during a preview tour.
The layout is loosely organized by lifestyle category—gaming, wellness, audio, travel, etc.—but tm:rw favors exploration over linearity. Touch everything. Try everything. Book a test drive on a professional-grade racing simulator ($20 for 10 minutes), then wander into The Sanctuary, a nearly soundproof oasis of Alexa-powered serenity, smack in the middle of Times Square.
At the heart of tm:rw is its mission to democratize innovation. 'So much of cutting-edge tech is locked behind paywalls—only seen at CES or in corporate offices,' said Traxler. 'We wanted to make it accessible, tactile, even fun.'
And it is. Highlights include LG's transparent OLED TV (only one of three on public display in the U.S.), a slick grooming lounge by Gillette and Braun, next-gen wearables from WHOOP and a retro-inspired karaoke lounge with plenty of secret events planned for the future. There's even a café with cotton candy spun by robots.
The 'Corner Shop' concept store rotates every few weeks and opens with an exclusive WHOOP installation. Meanwhile, hidden cameras (privacy-compliant, of course) provide real-time feedback to brand partners, tracking everything from dwell time to predictive purchasing behavior.

Reddit forecasts strong revenue on AI-driven ad strength, shares surge
July 31 (Reuters) - Reddit (RDDT.N), opens new tab forecast third-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on Thursday, betting on growing digital advertising driven by its artificial intelligence-powered marketing tools and sending its shares up 9% in extended trading. The forecast follows bigger rival Meta's upbeat second-quarter results and strong revenue outlook on Wednesday, lifted by the Facebook and Instagram parent's core ad business. Advertisers are increasingly turning to platforms such as Reddit, Meta (META.O), opens new tab, and TikTok, which offer advanced AI-powered tools for automated ad creation, precise audience targeting and access to fast-growing user bases. Reddit offers marketers various ad formats, including conversation placement ads, which allow brands to advertise directly within discussion threads in its interest-based communities known as subreddits. The San Francisco, California-based company last month launched two new AI-powered ad features designed to help brands drive engagement by tapping into user conversations on the platform. Reddit expects third-quarter revenue of $535 million to $545 million, well above analysts' average estimate of $473 million, according to data compiled by LSEG. Second quarter revenue rose 78% to $500 million, beating estimates of $426 million. Daily active unique visitors increased 21% to 110.4 million in the quarter ended June 30, while global average revenue per user jumped 47% to $4.53, the company said.

I tried McDonald's ‘weirdest' McFlurry yet that ‘tastes like Calpol'
McDonald's has launched its 'weirdest menu yet', and it includes a brand new McFlurry flavour that's causing quite the stir online. Alongside the return of fan favourites like The Big Tasty, Chicken Big Max and Spicy Chicken Nuggets, the fast food giant has introduced a controversial new dessert: the Jaffa Cakes McFlurry. And no, we're not talking about the cake vs biscuit debate. The £2.49 treat dropped on July 30 and has already divided social media users. Some customers have called it 'incredible' and say it's McDonald's most 'exciting new product'. Others, however, compare the flavour to kids' medicine, with one review claiming it 'tastes like Calpol'. Which could, arguably, be a positive or a negative. So, with no clear verdict out there, I had to try it myself. If you're someone who actively seeks out Jaffa Cakes in the supermarket, the new dessert is probably going to be up your street. It's a mixture of rich orange syrup with the classic vanilla biscuit base, covered with chocolate-covered shortcake pieces. But as someone who doesn't go out of their way to buy Jaffa Cakes, I found it a bit sickly. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the Calpol comparison – and I don't remember the sickly sweet medicine fondly. It's slightly overwhelming and a bit too artificial. That said, I do think it would have been better with actual chunks of Jaffa Cakes on top. Using shortbread biscuits seems a bit rogue, especially considering the aforementioned historical debate about whether Jaffa Cakes are biscuits or cakes. (They're cakes, by the way). Either way, I won't be ordering it again. I'll stick to a classic Smarties McFlurry next time. As part of its menu shake-up, McDonald's has also introduced fruity syrups to customise a standard Sprite Zero. These syrups are already available in US branches, but it's a first for the UK. Customers can now add a pump of Apple or Mango & Passionfruit syrup to their drink. I tried the Apple-flavoured Sprite. The bright green beverage is a mixture of Sprite Zero and sugar-free Apple flavoured syrup, costing £2.19 for a medium size. It tasted exactly like Apple Sourz, just without the alcohol – and I was instantly reminded of chaotic nights out at 18. I wouldn't rush to buy it again, but overall, I enjoyed it. I'd also be open to trying McDonald's other syrup flavours. Still, it's fun to see McDonald's trying something new, even if the results are hit-and-miss. This August, The Big Tasty and Big Tasty With Bacon, which are rarely featured on the menu, are returning. More Trending There's a catch, though. The Big Tasty range is only available as a regional exclusive in East Anglia. Similarly, those in Tyne & Tees are getting treated to the Steakhouse Stack. Elsewhere in the UK, the Chicken Big Mac is making its return. It features two patties, a slice of cheese, pickles, lettuce and Big Mac sauce. View More » But the whole of the UK will be able to enjoy a bunch of other returning fan-favourites, including Spicy Chicken McNuggets served with a Spicy Chilli Dip, the Fajita Chicken One, (a wrap made with creamy fajita sauce, tomato salsa, onions, cheese and lettuce with either crispy or grilled chicken), Chilli Cheese Bites and the Milky Way McFlurry with milk chocolate stars, malt flavoured pieces and a chocolate sauce. RETURNING: Milky Way McFlurry, £2.49 Chicken Big Mac (available everywhere except East Anglia and Tyne & Tees), £5.19 Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon (only available in East Anglia), £7.19 without bacon, £8.09 with bacon Steakhouse Stack (only available in Tyne & Tees), £6.49 Chilli Cheese Bites, £2.69 The Fajita Chicken One (replacing the Katsu Chicken One), £3.69 NEW: Jaffa Cakes McFlurry, £2.49 Sprite Zero with Green Apple Syrup (medium), £2.19 Sprite Zero with Mango & Passionfruit Syrup (medium), £2.19 Do you have a story to share? But if it's the HONITURE Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop you're after, you're not alone, as it's already earned a strong following, with some shoppers calling it 'life-changing.' So I thought best to give it a try… Very smart, suction is very good… makes housewives' life a lot easier.' Another described it as 'really great,' adding: 'Glides along the floor sweeping up any dirt… leaves the kitchen tiles sparkling… My daughter was so impressed that she has purchased one as well.' A third praised its suction and mopping, saying: 'It's amazing with good suction power. As a mop, it's ok for everyday cleaning… The customer service is amazing, I had a problem with the first one I ordered and got a replacement straight away.' However, not everyone was fully satisfied. One reviewer noted: 'The mop is not very good, leaves a lot of streaks… the battery has depleted quickly after a year.' They added that the product felt 'ok' overall, but struggled with corners and didn't receive manufacturer support. Another said: 'It's very 'just okay'… gets stuck on power cords or toys… the mapping on the app is poor quality and doesn't remember the last cleaning map. Handy for in-between cleaning, but still need a proper hoover weekly.' Still, with its combination of mopping, vacuuming, and smart features, the HONITURE Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop remains a strong contender in its price range. Get this product HERE.
